PATTERN OF ANTIBIOTICS UTILIZATION IN NEONATAL SEPTICEMIA: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY FROM RURAL TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL WESTERN MAHARASHTRA, INDIA
Objective: To assess the quantification of use of antibiotics and to find out empiric antibiotic regimen practiced for neonatal sepsis in rural tertiary health care centre. Methods: A hospital, record based cross-sectional study was conducted in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) at tertiary care hospital located in western Maharashtra, India. The study was planned during the year 2011-12 among 84 neonates with sepsis. Data were collected by using proforma includes demographic details, antibiotic prescriptions and relevant information. Results: Among the total 84 neonates, max, 60.71% had a history of term delivery. The proportion of early and late onset of sepsis was 47.61% and 52.38% for which total 18 antibiotics were used of which max, 88.88% were injectables. Amikacin was used in max, 78.57% neonates followed by cefotaxime, 45.23% and ampicillin, 35.71% in single or combination form respectively. Amikacin was used for max; 929 d followed by cefotaxime, 523 d and ampicillin 331 d respectively. Antibiotics used in single, double and multiple regimens were 19.04%, 46.42% and 34.52% respectively. Empiric antibiotic regimens practiced were cefotaxim+amikacin and cefotaxim+ampicillin, of which max, 80% patients were treated with the cefotaxim+amikacin antibiotic regimen. Out of 84 neonates max, 70% were improved at the time of discharge. Conclusion: Neonatal sepsis was well treated by cefotaxim+amikacin empirical injectable regimen with maximum survival
Geodesic bipancyclicity of the Cartesian product of graphs
A cycle containing a shortest path between two vertices and in a graph is called a -geodesic cycle. A connected graph is geodesic 2-bipancyclic, if every pair of vertices of it is contained in a -geodesic cycle of length for each even integer satisfying where is the distance between and In this paper, we prove that the Cartesian product of two geodesic hamiltonian graphs is a geodesic 2-bipancyclic graph. As a consequence, we show that for every -dimensional torus is a geodesic 2-bipancyclic graph
Ontology Based Approach for Services Information Discovery using Hybrid Self Adaptive Semantic Focused Crawler
Focused crawling is aimed at specifically searching out pages that are relevant to a predefined set of topics. Since ontology is an all around framed information representation, ontology based focused crawling methodologies have come into exploration. Crawling is one of the essential systems for building information stockpiles. The reason for semantic focused crawler is naturally finding, commenting and ordering the administration data with the Semantic Web advances. Here, a framework of a hybrid self-adaptive semantic focused crawler – HSASF crawler, with the inspiration driving viably discovering, and sorting out administration organization information over the Internet, by considering the three essential issues has been displayed. A semi-supervised system has been planned with the inspiration driving subsequently selecting the ideal limit values for each idea, while considering the optimal performance without considering the constraint of the preparation of data set.

Coarse grained dynamics of the freely cooling granular gas in one dimension
We study the dynamics and structure of clusters in the inhomogeneous
clustered regime of a freely cooling granular gas of point particles in one
dimension. The coefficient of restitution is modeled as or 1 depending
on whether the relative speed is greater or smaller than a velocity scale
. The effective fragmentation rate of a cluster is shown to rise
sharply beyond a dependent time scale. This crossover is coincident
with the velocity fluctuations within a cluster becoming order . Beyond
this crossover time, the cluster size distribution develops a nontrivial power
law distribution, whose scaling properties are related to those of the velocity
fluctuations. We argue that these underlying features are responsible behind
the recently observed nontrivial coarsening behaviour in the one dimensional
freely cooling granular gas.Comment: 7 Pages, 9 Figure
Association between Smoking and Dental Caries among People of Kolhapur District, Maharashtra, India
INTRODUCTION: Smoking as a public health problem, harms one’s general and oral well-being leading to increased morbidity and mortality.AIM: To find out the association between dental caries and smokers (current and past) with non-smokers among people of Kolhapur District, Maharashtra, India.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present cross-sectional study was conducted among 1366 (449 smokers, 440 past smokers and 447 non-smokers), and the patients were divided among three age groups (35-44, 45-60 and >60 years). Data was recorded using a pre-tested, pre-validated questionnaire recording the demographic details and modified DMFT index. The data was analyzed using t- test, calculation of Odd’s Ratio (OR) and logistic regression was applied to find out association, if any using a licensed SPSS version 22.0.RESULTS: It was revealed that the highest mean DMFT was seen among smokers (3.66±5.78) followed by past smokers(3.01±2.66) and non-smokers (3.01±2.66). Also, the maximum DMFT was seen among 35-44 years (3.82±2.4), which was found out to be significant as compared to past -smokers and non-smokers. Odd’s ratio analysis revealed that as compared to non-smokers, current smokers and past smokers were 1.6 and 1.1 respectively. The multiple regression analysis revealed that significant difference was seen between smoking(.01) and age (0.02) with respect to DMFT.CONCLUSION: Efforts are required by clinicians to educate people about the ill-effects of tobacco and provide tobacco cessation counselling to reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality caused by tobacco
