The Tenderisation of Shin Beef Using a Citrus Juice Marinade

    Get PDF
The effectiveness of organic acids (acetic, citric, lactic) and a citrus juice marinade as tenderising agents in shin beef muscle was investigated. At 0.2 M, citric acid was more effective as a tenderising agent than acetic or lactic acid. Immersion of shin beef strips in citric acid (0–0.05 M) showed that a significant tenderising effect was obtained above a concentration of 0.013 M. When shin beef strips were immersed in the citrus juice marinade (31% orange juice, 31% lemon juice, 38% distilled water) mean pH decreased from 5.7 to 3.1 and mean sample weight increased by ∼65%. The mean Warner–Bratzler shear force value decreased from 178 to 44 N cm−2 following marination while mean sensory analysis scores for tenderness and juiciness increased following marination. A mean total collagen content of 1.4 g/100 g was recorded in shin beef of which 9% was soluble in unmarinated samples and 29% was soluble in marinated samples. The results indicated that the tenderisation of beef samples using a citrus juice marinade could be attributed to marinade uptake by muscle proteins and also to solubilisation of collagen

arious media publish sports news for sports lovers to enjoy. Each media and news portal certainly has a unique way of delivering, writing and uploading the news. This article was written by researchers to find out how the Kompasiana media framed a news story about the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae Yong. Many media have highlighted Shin Tae Yong's behavior in coaching the Indonesian national team and the positive and negative influences that had an impact on the Indonesian national team when Shin Tae Yong became the coach of the Indonesian national team. The writing of this article uses a framing analysis approach with a qualitative method. The framing analysis model used is Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicky. The results obtained from writing this article are the Kompasiana media news portal framing Shin Tae Yong to have a positive side and a fairly good strategy for Indonesia's victory to be proud of. Meanwhile, CNN frames Shin Tae Yong in a different way so that it can lead the opinion of sports lovers, especially in terms of football

Optimal Policy Intervention and the Social Value of Public Information

    Get PDF
Svensson (2006) argues that Morris and Shin (2002) is, contrary to what is claimed, pro-transparency. This paper reexamines the issue but with an important modification to the original Morris and Shin framework. Recognizing that central banks impact the economy not only indirectly via public announcements, but also directly through policy actions, we consider the social value of public information in the presence of active policy intervention. Our results strengthen Morris and Shin's conclusions considerably: in particular, we find that public disclosure of the central bank's information is unambiguously, i.e., regardless of parameter values, undesirable. Equivariant embeddings of rational homology balls

    Get PDF
We generalise theorems of Khodorovskiy and Park-Park-Shin, and give new topological proofs of those theorems, using embedded surfaces in the 4-ball and branched double covers. These theorems exhibit smooth codimension-zero embeddings of certain rational homology balls bounded by lens spaces.Comment: 27 pages, 25 figures. Observations on the cultivation of M.leprae and M. tuberculosis in medium V and V1

    Get PDF
Skin scrapings from five different active sites were collected from 14 leprosy patients and inoculated into medium V. Shin scrapings from three leprosy patients were inoculated into medium V 1. All the cultures were incubated at 8-10°C. M. tuberculosis H37Rv, pretreatment isoloates and streptomycin resistant strains were inoculated into medium V, with and without antibiotics, and incubated at 8-10°C as well as 37°C. Smears were made from the M. leprae and M. tuberculosis cultures at 0 hours and at different time points. The number of bacilli in the smears were counted. There was no increase in the number of M. leprae or M. tuberculosis in any of the cultures

Demand For International Reserves in ASEAN-5 Economies

    Get PDF
The ASEAN-5 economies were observed to increase their demand for international reserves after the 1997 Asian financial crisis. This was coincided with their consistent current account surplus during the same period. Thus, this study attempts to investigate the existence of long-run relationship between reserve demand and current account for the period of 1997-2005. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bounds test approach as proposed by Pesaran, Shin, and Smith (2001) was employed, and the empirical results revealed that current account surplus leads to the rise in the demand for international reserves in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.Bound Test, ARDL Approach, International Reserves, ASEAN-5

The purpose of this research is to examine how the influence of discipline and work motivation on work productivity. This study uses a quantitative methodology which includes descriptive and verification analysis. The analytical method used is multiple regression. The population of this research is the employees of Pt. Chang Shin Indonesia from lean production with a workforce of 450 people. By collecting 60 respondents, the sample for this study was randomly selected. data collected through a questionnaire. To draw conclusions and test the hypothesis used descriptive analysis, verification and multiple regression. The t, R and F tests were used. The results of this study found that (1) the labor productivity of PT. Chang Shin Indonesia is partly influenced by work motivation. (2) Labor productivity of employees of PT. Chang Shin Indonesia is partly influenced by labor discipline. (3) Discipline and work motivation affect the work productivity of employees of PT. Chang-Shin Indonesia at the same time. Nonlinear unit root tests of PPP using long-horizon data

    Get PDF
The Kapetanios, Shin, and Snell (KSS, 2003) test for a nonlinear unit root is used to study purchasing power parity using Taylor's extensive data set, d to include recent exchange rate and price level data. The results i) indicate that PPP holds with respect to the US dollar for most countries and ii) are more supportive of PPP than those from standard linear unit root tests.

Portuguese tourism demand:a dynamic panel data analysis

    Get PDF
This article considers the determinants of Portuguese tourism demand for the period 2004-2013. The econometric methodology uses a panel unit root test and the dynamic panel data (GMM-system estimator). The different techniques of panel unit root (Levin, Lin and Chu; Im, Pesaran and Shin W-stat and augmented Dickey-Fuller - Fisher Chi-square) show that the variables used in this panel are stationary. The dynamic model proves that tourism demand is a dynamic process. The variables relative prices, income per capita, human capital and government spending encourage international tourism demand for Portugal.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
