On modeling system-centric information for role engineering

    Get PDF
In this paper we present an approach to modeling system-centric information in order to facilitate role engineering (RE). In particular, we first discuss the general character-istics of the information required in RE. Afterwards, we discuss two informational flow types among authorities in-volved in RE process, forward information flow (FIF) and backward information flow (BIF), together with the intro-duction of an information model which is greatly suitable for use in the backward information flow. System-centric information is incorporated in the information model and UML extension mechanisms are exploited for modeling the information. Not only can the information model provide those different authorities with a method for both analy-sis of resources and communication of knowledge in the RE process, but it can also help lay a foundation for successful implementations of RBAC

Smart Tourism of the Korea: A Case Study

    Get PDF
The utilization of Information Technology (IT) is spreading in tourism industry with explosive growth of Internet, Social Network Service (SNS) through smart phone applications. Especially, since intensive information has high value on tourism area, IT is becoming a crucial factor in the tourism industry. The smart tourism is explained as an holistic approach that provide tour information, service related to travel, such as destination, food, transportation, reservation, travel guide, conveniently to tourists through IT devices. In our research, we focus on the Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO’s) smart tourism case. This research concentrates on the necessity and effectiveness of smart tourism which delivers travel information in real-time base. Also, our study overview how KTO’s IT operation manages each channel, website, SNS, applications and finally suggests the smart tourism’s future direction for the successful realization

Examining Technology Perception and User Competence on Two Types of Smartphone Usages

    Get PDF
This study intends to explain smartphone usage behaviours in the post-adoption stage of information systems (IS) based on the IS continuance model, the technology acceptance model (TAM), and the competence of the users. In this study, smartphone usage is divided into two types: usage of the smartphone’s device functions and usage of applications. This is the first time this concept has been proposed and empirically tested. The results found strong predictors of user satisfaction (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) toward smartphone satisfaction and finally confirmed the influence of smartphone function use on smartphone app use. Finally, several important theoretical and practical implications and directions for future research based on limitations are suggested

Strong ferromagnetism in Pt-coated ZnCoO: The role of interstitial hydrogen

    Get PDF
We observed strong ferromagnetism in ZnCoO as a result of high concentration hydrogen absorption. Coating ZnCoO with Pt layer, and ensuing hydrogen treatment with a high isostatic pressure resulted in a highly increased carrier concentration of 10(21)/cm(3). This hydrogen treatment induced a strong ferromagnetism at low temperature that turned to superparamagnetism at about 140 K. We performed density functional method computations and found that the interstitial H dopants promote the ferromagnetic ordering between scattered Co dopants. On the other hand, interstitial hydrogen can decrease the magnetic exchange energy of Co-H-Co complexes, leading to a reduction in the blocking temperature.open7

Does product market competition affect corporate governance?

    No full text
We examine the extent to which shareholders strategically allow a weak governance structure in response to increasing competition pressures in the product market. We treat acquisitions by rival firms as shocks that increase threats in a competitive product market. We find that firms adopt greater entrenchment provisions when there are greater competition threats. Moreover, firms with high institutional ownership–especially by dedicated investors–and board independence within the compensation committee are particularly aggressive, which is consistent with our theory that aggressive behavior represents a strategic decision by shareholders. Finally, we find positive relationship between the adoption of entrenchment provisions and firm’s future performance, but only for the adoption under relatively severe competitive pressures.Peer reviewe
