A Training Program for Local Church Elders/Leaders in Northeast India

    Get PDF
Problem Local church elders and leaders in the Northeast India Union have regularly cared for nurturing and evangelism within the church. They have performed pastoral responsibilities because there are only eighteen paid district pastors in charge of over 130 organized churches and more than 300 companies. However, elders and leaders have no training to perform the task effectively. To enable local church elders and leaders to minister effectively, leadership training is required. Method The project considered first the concept of Christ\u27s servant leadership as a basis for the work of elders and local leaders within the chinch. It also reviewed Christ\u27s method of training the Twelve as a model of servant leadership. A biblical perspective on the duties and qualifications of elders/leaders and deacons was studied. My past twelve years of experience as a Union Church Ministries Director helped me to ascertain the most needed areas for local leadership training. A training program was designed for elders/leaders and deacons. Three workshops were developed in detail, with lessons and other instructions. The topics were spiritual formation for elders/leaders, how to conduct Bible studies for nonmembers, and how to preach sermons. Results Following the pilot training program, church attendance improved and tithes and offerings increased. Lay participation in evangelism and in nurturing increased. In addition, the morale of congregations was improved. Conclusions Local church elders/leaders and deacons appointed to a position may not know how to adequately perform their duties. To equip the local church leaders, the church should schedule, together with the district pastor and local conference, a training program once or twice a year as a continuous educational program for the church

Abstract The unusual lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic has exploded globally, revealing the whole population and touching all areas in our lives: education, work, politics, entertainment, economy, markets, etc. Online teaching and learning during pandemics have exposed students to technology, ultimately resulting in ingesting of digital media. In this favor, the research aims to determine the use of smartphones among university students during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to examine the use of smartphones by university students during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study collected 165 respondents from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (A central university), Lucknow. This study used survey techniques, questionnaire tools and stratified random sampling techniques for collecting data. Data screening, factor analysis and reliability tests were conducted to confirm the validity and reliability of the instruments, further mean value was calculated, then t-test and ANOVA test were carried out to check the stated hypotheses. Factor analysis yielded three factors, i.e., improved learning, sharing information and access to materials. The findings suggested that gender has a significant difference with improved learning (p=0.050) and respondent’s age has a substantial difference with access to materials (p=0.022)

Observation of Enhanced Network Performance in IoT Process Control and Data Sensing with RINA

Internet of things (IoT) is one of the leading technologies which spanned from the trivial consumer applications to time-critical industrial applications. The current research in IoT focuses mostly on network performance as it is experiencing bottlenecks in data communication. IoT communication preferred UDP due to the limitations of TCP hard-state handshaking procedures on throughput. Proposed work developed a prototype with IoT devices communicating on a new internet architecture i.e. recursive inter-networking architecture (RINA) which has eliminated hard-state handshaking procedures. The impact of RINA on the network performance in process control and data acquisition is observed in terms of latency variations, network jitter and throughput. The results were compared against the network performance when the proposed prototype was communicating on TCP/IP. A Comparative analysis was provided to identify the improved network performance in RINA. This prototype was implemented in closed network configurations like LAN and WLAN in RINA as well as TCP/IP

An integrated multiple layer perceptron-genetic algorithm decision support system for photovoltaic power plant site selection

There is a need for non-renewable energy sources in generation of power for almost every domestic and commercial purposes. This source of energy helps in the development of a country. Because of the increasing usage of the fossil fuels and depletion of these resources, our focus has been shifted towards the renewable sources of energy like solar, water and wind. Therefore, in the present scenario, the usage of renewable sources has been increasing rapidly. Selection of a solar power plant (SPP) requires environmental factor, local terrain, and local weather issues. Thus, a large amount of investment is required for installation. Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is a method that identifies one in choosing the best sites among the other proposed options. This paper gives a detailed study of optimal ranking of SPP site using analytical hierarchy process (AHP), multiple layer perceptron (MLP) neural network trained with back propagation (BP) algorithm and genetic algorithm (GA). Three SPP sites of India were considered and various important criteria like local weather, geographical location, and environmental factors are included in our study as SPP site selection is a multi-criteria problem. A precise comparison of these three methods is listed in this paper

Abstract Purpose - The purpose of this study is to inspect the mobile reading behaviors and readers’ content predilection in Hyderabad city, India and to find out the interrelated problems. Design/methodology/approach - This study used a survey method and questionnaire tool for collecting data. Simple random sampling technique is employed to determine the sample population. SPSS software is used for analyzing data, independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA tests are conducted to test the stated hypotheses. Findings - The findings from t-test results discloses that there is a significant difference concerning males and females in term of reading e-books (t-value = -2.570, p-value = 0.011), particularly stories/novels (t-value = -4.021, p-value = 0.001), and time spent for emails (t-value = -3.394, p-value = 0.001). The role of the Library and Information professionals has been integral in promoting knowledge cultures throughout the centuries. Libraries have undergone a sea change and have been keeping pace with the networked and digital world. Libraries are the gateways to the information resources that engage the readers in different ways and capacities. A crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic shut the doors of the physical libraries but the opportunities and the doors for the digital libraries were opened like never before in history. LIS professionals all around the world have taken up the challenge of providing the information services to the user communities and engaged them in the most positive manner. Digital libraries have mustered up to continuously promote, supplement and complement the online education that was ushered in the society. The study explores the type of services provided by libraries for the society particularly in the context of library services and library professionals who faced both the opportunities and challenges that arose out of the COVID-19 crisis. LIS professionals have a greater role to play in the coming times to lift the spirits of the society by providing innovative services. The study highlights the significant initiatives and information engagements undertaken by the libraries in the global context to meet the post lockdown needs and look beyond the COVID-19 era

294-299Through a questionnaire survey, the study has examined the relationship between awareness, dissemination and sharing of cultural heritage knowledge among the youth of Tangkhul tribe, Manipur, state. Factor analysis for the cultural heritage information (CHI) requirements produced two factors i.e. awareness and dissemination, and factor analysis for sharing cultural heritage knowledge resulted in six factors, namely: rewards, intention to share, expected relationship, enjoy helping, self-efficacy and reciprocity. Multiple regression analysis was carried out and it was found that “intention to share” is the most vital variable affecting awareness on cultural heritage knowledge with β-value=0.152, p-value=0.031 and R-value=0.118. Similarly, the Beta coefficients of rewards (β=0.141; p-value=0.015) and self-efficacy (β=0.244; p-value=0.000) are the most significant variables affecting dissemination on cultural heritage knowledge with R-value=0.131. This study enables us to understand the most sought cultural heritage information needs i.e. awareness. Youth seek cultural heritage information to make themselves aware about their rich culture and determine factors for sharing cultural heritage knowledge
