    An investigation of effects of flow conditioning on straight tube Coriolis meter

    Coriolis meter, despite being very accurate in single phase conditions, fails to accurately measure two-phase flows. It poses a complex fluid-structure interaction problem in case of two-phase operation; there is a scarcity of theoretical models available to predict the errors reported by Coriolis meter in aforementioned conditions, hence the need for experimental research. Experiments are conducted in both single and two-phase flow conditions. Meter accuracy is excellent in single phase conditions and no significant effect is observed on use of flow conditioners, namely inlet swirl and inline mixer. Operational two-phase envelope is determined through experiments at different flowrates. Flow conditioners are used to study the effect of phase segregation and homogenization on accuracy of the meter. Testing is done to cover two-phase flows from both extreme ends, namely aerated liquids and wet gas. Use of flow conditioners show slight improvement in meter accuracy on use of inline mixer, and reduction in accuracy in case of inlet swirl, when both former and latter are compared to results obtained from experiments with no flow conditioners. The difference in accuracies between results with flow conditioner and without flow conditioners is attributed to relative motion between the phases, which is more in case of inlet swirl, due to larger bubble sizes. Flow conditioners show an insignificant effect on meter accuracy during wet gas tests. The reason proposed is annular flow regime, which is not highly affected by flow conditioners. Single phase tests demonstrate that Coriolis meter gives accurate measurement even in presence of severe flow disturbances. There is no need for flow conditioning before the meter to obtain accurate readings from it, which would be the case in other metering technologies like orifice and turbine. In two phase flows, the meter reports negative errors, which is consistent with previous experimental works available in literature. Use of flow conditioners clearly affects the reading of the meter in aerated liquids. This phenomenon can be used to get fairly accurate estimate of flow rate in low gas volume fraction liquid flows

    RFID based Attendance Management System

    Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that uses radio waves to transfer data from an electronic tag, called RFID tag or label, attached to an object, through a reader for the purpose of identifying and tracking the object. RFID technology is a matured technology that has been widely deployed by various organizations as a part of their automation systems. In this project, an RFID based system has been built in order to produce an attendance management system. An automated attendance management software will not only make the entire process simple, but will also provide a well-structured and analyzed report of the pattern of student attendance and time management, which can further help in allocating and using the human resources in an organization to the maximum possible benefit. This system consists of two main parts which include: the hardware and the software. The hardware consists of a motor unit and RFID reader. The RFID reader, which is a low-frequency reader (125 kHz), is connected to the host computer via a serial to USB converter cable. The Time-Attendance System GUI is developed using Visual Basic.Net. The Attendance Management System provides the functionalities of the overall system such as displaying live ID tags transactions, registering ID, deleting ID, recording attendance and other minor functions.     Search for Lorentz-violation through sidereal effect at NO{\nu}A Experiment

    Long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments offer a unique laboratory to test the fundamental Lorentz symmetry, which is heart of both the standard model of particle and general relativity theory. Deviations from the standard neutrino oscillation or the sidereal modulation in neutrino events will smoking-gun experimental signature of Lorentz and CPT violation. In this study, we investigate the impact of the sidereal effect on standard neutrino oscillation measurements within the context of the NO{\nu}A experiment. Additionally, we assess the sensitivity of the NO{\nu}A experiment to detect Lorentz-violating interactions, taking into account the sidereal effect. Furthermore, we highlight potential of the NO{\nu}A experiment to set the new constraints on anisotropic Lorentz-violating parameters

    Auranofin Releasing Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Polyurethane Intravascular Catheter Coatings

    Intravascular catheter related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) are a leading cause of hospital-acquired infections worldwide, resulting not only in the burden of cost and morbidity for patients but also in the over-consumption of medical resources for hospitals and health care organizations. In this study, a novel auranofin releasing antibacterial and antibiofilm polyurethane (PU) catheter coating was developed and investigated for future use in preventing CRBSIs. Auranofin is an antirheumatic drug with recently identified antimicrobial properties. The drug carrier, PU, acts as a barrier surrounding the antibacterial agent, auranofin, to extend the drug release profile and improve its long-term antibacterial and antibiofilm efficacy and potentially the length of catheter implantation within a patient. The PU+auranofin coatings developed here were found to be highly stretchable (exhibiting ~500% percent elongation), which is important for the compliance of the material on a flexible catheter. PU+auranofin coated catheters were able to inhibit the growth of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) for 8 to 26 days depending on the specific drug concentration utilized during the dip coating process. The PU+auranofin coated catheters were also able to completely inhibit MRSA biofilm formation in vitro, an effect that was not observed with auranofin or PU alone. Lastly, these coatings were found to be hemocompatible with human erythrocytes and maintain liver cell viability

    FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF METOCLOPRAMIDE RAPIDLY DISINTEGRATING TABLETS

    Metoclopramide an effective antiemetic; acting on the CTZ, blocks apomorphine induced vomiting. Rapidly disintegrating tablets of metoclopramide hydrochloride were prepared by mass extrusion technique using three different superdisintegrants Sodium Starch Glycolate, Avicel Ph 102, L-HPC. Pre-compression parameters and post-compression parameters were evaluated for all the nine formulations. Angle of repose and % compressibility showed good flowability in all the formulations. Weight variation was found within limits and drug content of all the formulations was found in the range of 9.700 mg - 9.925 mg in each tablet. The hardness of all the formulations was almost uniform and possessed good mechanical strength with sufficient hardness. The wetting time in all the formulation was fast. Formulations F3 containing sodium starch glycolate 10% & F6 containing Avicel ph 102 10% tablets disintegrated rapidly to release the drug. In vitro release studies revealed that 96% of drug releases from SSG, MCC (90%), and L-HPC (85%) for all the formulations were within 15 min. Based on above results, three formulations F3, F6, F9 were selected for stability studies these formulations showed not much variation in any parameter even after the period of 30 days, formulations F3, F6, F9 are found to be stable and retained their original properties. Thus, it may be concluded that formulation containing sodium starch glycolate as superdisintegrants is fulfilling all the parameters satisfactorily. It showed excellent in vitro disintegration, in vitro dispersion time, compared to other superdisintegrants. And the rapidly disintegrating tablets can be prepared by mass extrusion technique Ă‚

    Doctrine of Equivalents: Scope & Limitations

    314-329The scope of a patent is not limited to its literal terms, but instead embraces all equivalents to claims described in a patent application. Limiting the scope of a patent to its literal elements, would allow a competitor to make an unimportant or insubstantial change to the patented invention and thereby defeat the patent. The doctrine of equivalents is an important tool of law (developed by the courts of United States) to determine infringement in cases of non-literal infringement. The doctrine removes unfairness that could result from an overemphasis on the literal language of patent claims, and thereby affords protection accorded to the patent. The doctrine strikes a balance between a fair scope for the patent and the notice the patent provides for the public, along with a balance between incentives to innovate and costs of uncertainty. This paper analyses the scope of the doctrine in the light of the different tests and legal bars, developed by courts. The paper also comments upon the problems associated with the doctrine and the significant changes brought about to it, by the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of United States in Festo Corp v Shokestsu Kinzoku Kogyo Kabushiki Co

To accomplish the exploration, unstructured interviews were used in the paper to contain knowledge of customers' experiences in the retail store................................................................................................ likely to experience customer racial profiling in stores as compared to female customers. This bachelor thesis was conducted during the spring semester of 2022 at Linnaeus University in Växjö by marketing students Adila Aadila, MuhammadTalha Qadri, and Shashank Shukla. While conducting this research the authors had the opportunity to implement some of the knowledge gained throughout the three years of studying the marketing program.
