Rehabilitation of hearing impaired children in India – An update

    Get PDF
The prevalence of deafness in India is fairly significant. It is the second most common cause of disability. Approximately 63 million people (6.3%) in India suffer from significant auditory loss.1 Rehabilitation of hearing impaired children in India remains a challenging task. Early detection and intervention are the mainstay of this initiative. This article does not purport to detail the clinical aspects and surgical management of hearing handicapped children. We discuss here the resources and options available in India for the education of deaf children and the role of the Government bodies in rehabilitation. Awareness abouteducation and rehabilitation of hearing handicapped is low among the general public and even among the medical fraternity.

Analysis of Steel Made Leaf Spring using FEA Tool ANSYS

Mathematical and computer modelling have been playing an increasingly important role in the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) process of many products in the last 60 years. Simulation offers great advantages in the development and analysis phase of products and offers a faster, better and more cost effective way than using physical prototypes alone. This paper analyses the mechanics characteristic of a composite leaf spring made from glass fibre reinforced plastics using the ANSYS software. Considering interleaf contact, the stress distribution and deformation are obtained. Taking the single spring as an example, comparison between the performance of the GFRP and the steel spring is presented. The comparison results show that the composite spring has lower stresses and much lower weight. Then the automotive dead weight is reduced observably

Diversity oriented one-pot three-component sequential synthesis of annulated benzothiazoloquinazolines

Annulated benzothiazoloquinazolines have been synthesized by a diversity oriented simple and convenient synthesis involving one-pot three-component reaction of substituted 2-aminobenzothiazoles with α-tetralone and aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes in ethanol in the presence of catalytic amount of triethylamine. The synthesized compounds have been characterized by their elemental analyses and spectral data

Execution and Reliability of OPF algorithms is an important issue of research for gainful power structure control and orchestrating. Perfect Power Flow is driven for restricting the objective work. This objective limit can be single regarded target work or different objective limits. In the present research, we have executed perfect power stream in order to constrain the fuel cost while satisfying the constraints, for instance, the voltages, power yields of the generator kept inside embraced purpose of repression. Some other objective can be used reliant on utility's preferred position and needs. Many streamlined framework models have been combined in the past by various researchers for OPF issue, for instance, Linear Programming, Non Linear Programming, Quadratic Programming, Newton Based Techniques, Parametric Methods, and Interior Point Methods, etc. A wide variety of bleeding edge optimization methodologies like Evolutionary Programming, Genetic Algorithm, PSO Algorithm, etc are proposed recorded as a hard copy for handling OPF issue. In this proposition, we have executed improved particle swarm optimization algorithm to restrain cost limit while keeping goals inside acceptable most extreme. The adjustments in particle swarm optimization is finished by introducing the idea of quantum computing and optimization of quickening coefficients. The proposed algorithm is associated with IEEE-30 bus structure. Resuts indicated unrivaled execution of proposed algorithm as contrasted and contemporary techniques

AbstractDue to continuous diminishing of fossil fuel resources and emission of greenhouse gases, the search for alternative fuels such as biodiesel and bioethanol has become inevitable. Biodiesel, also known as fatty acid methyl or ethyl ester, has emerged as a substitute for diesel because of similar fuel properties. Presently, biodiesel is produced from edible, non-edible and microalgal oil. Chlorella protothecoides (lipid content 14.6–57.8%) is being investigated as the potential microalgae species owing to high oil content, less land area required for cultivation and faster growth rate. The present investigation shows the results of the kinetics of transesterification of C. protothecoides microalgal oil carried out at optimum conditions of catalyst concentration, reaction temperature, molar ratio and reaction time. The percentage of methyl ester yield is the only parameter chosen to carry out the optimum parameter and the kinetics of transesterification. The reaction rate constant was to be 0.0618min−1. Furthermore, microalgal biodiesel is characterized for physico-chemical properties that are found to meet American (ASTM D6751) and Indian (IS 15607) standards, especially in cold flow properties and stability of conventional biodiesel

Trends of human influenza infection in Chhattisgarh: a retrospective observational study

    Get PDF
Background: Human influenza virus was recognized as a pandemic in 2009 by the World Health Organization (WHO). Since then many newer incidences was recognized in India, but there was no sufficient data from all state of India. This study will provide data from the Chhattisgarh state of India. Methods: It was a retrospective observational study from December 2015 to November 2017. All patient samples with suspected influenza infection were collected and analysed by Real-time reverse polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results: 341 patients’ sample was collected and analysed; among these samples, 07.9% of patients have all three serotype of influenza positive. Raipur district has the highest incidence of influenza A followed by Durg and Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. There was no significant difference between male and female who was affected by the influenza virus. Conclusions: The incidence of Human influenza virus is lesser in Chhattisgarh as compare to the average states of India and the state capital has a higher rate of sample collection as well as positive influenza infection

Knowledge and attitudinal survey of drug promotional literature among second year undergraduate students: a questionnaire based study

Background: Promotion of drugs has been increased enormously with the advancement of technology and use of internet and media etc. Pharmaceutical manufacturers spend vast amount of money on promotion usually through medical representatives by providing printed advertisements. But, it has been seen that these printed advertisements are not up to the mark usually, they either overemphasize the efficacy or hide the safety profile for the sake of company’s profit. All these promotional activities influence the prescribing pattern of doctors. So, the present study has been conducted to assess the knowledge and attitude of second year undergraduate students about promotional literature and to train them accordingly for improving the prescribing behaviour. Methods: A questionnaire based study containing 9 questions was conducted in 110 second year undergraduate students after taking informed consent. Statistical analysis was done by using descriptive statistics by graph pad prism version 6.01.Results: Among respondents 60 (61.2%) were males and rest 38 (38.8%) were females. 50 (51%) of the respondents have chosen Indian pharmacopoeia as a trusted source of information followed by others. Most common factor affecting the prescribing attitude was reported as updates from clinical trials 49 (50%) followed by prescriber’s knowledge. Most important intervention taken to stop misleading drug promotional activities has been reported as formulation of strict regulation by the health care authorities against any misleading promotion. Conclusions: Promotional activities by manufacturers influence the attitude and prescribing pattern of doctors. So, it is important to teach the students about their rational use by critically analysing it
