Testing an integrated destination image model across residents and tourists
Tourism research has yet to confirm whether an integrated destination image model is applicable in predicting the overall destination image and behavioral intentions of local residents. This study examines whether the cognitive, affective and overall image - hypothesized to be predictors of behavioral intentions - are applicable to residents and tourists in the resort city of Eilat. The proposed model allowed for the distinct effect of each image component on overall image and behavior to be closely examined. The findings support the applicability of the model to local residents and also showed that among tourists, the affective component exerted a greater influence than the cognitive on overall destination image and future behavior. These findings have theoretical and practical implications for research on destination image

Kajian Ketersediaan dan Kebutuhan Ruang Terbuka Hijau Kawasan Perkotaan di Kota Sukabumi
Tingginya pergerakan dan perpindahan orang serta barang di kawasan perkotaan Kota Sukabumi menyebabkan tekanan terhadap fungsi ekologis kawasan perkotaan, dalam hal ini ruang terbuka hijau. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis interpretasi citra, analisis ketersediaan ruang terbuka hijau berdasarkan regulasi UU No. 6 tahun 2007 dan berdasarkan kriteria tegakan vegetasi minimum, analisis kebutuhan ruang terbuka hijau berdasarkan jumlah penduduk, dan pola persebaran berdasarkan analisis tetetangga terdekat secara kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ketersediaan ruang terbuka hijau secara keseluruhan berdasarkan luas minimal belum memadai yaitu sebesar 1.673.193,20 m2 dengan persentase 5,2% dari luas keseluruhan kawasan perkotaan Kota Sukabumi. Ketersediaan berdasarkan tegakan vegetasi terdapat 20 titik RTH yang tidak sesuai dengan kriteria tegakan vegetasi Kebutuhan RTH yang terdiri dari taman lingkungan, pemakaman, taman kota, hutan kota, dan fungsi tertentu belum memadai, dimana luas ideal RTH sebesar 1.707.048,4 m2 dengan ketersediaan 1.628.702 m2 sehingga membutuhkan RTH dengan luasan 78.346,32 m2. Pola persebaran ruang terbuka hijau cenderung tersebar dimana sebelah utara kawasan perkotaan Kota Sukabumi didominasi oleh RTH taman lingkungan, dan sebelah selatan kawasan perkotaan Kota Sukabumi di dominasi oleh RTH hutan kota dan sempadan sungai
Warmest Sea Surface Temperature Event in the South Eastern Arabian Sea over the Decade using Satellite and INS Sagardhwani Observations
South Eastern Arabian Sea is well known for its prolonged and warmer sea surface temperature (>30 °C) events generally known as Arabian Sea mini warm pool occurring during the pre-monsoon periods (March-May). To study the intensity and spatial extent of the warm pool, ten years (2007-2016) of satellite-derived weekly averaged SST and in-situ data measured from INS Sagardhwani are used. The analysis is done based on the precondition ‘sea surface temperature > 30 °C’ and lasts more than a week. These analysis demonstrate the existence of a strong inter-annual variability. It is also identified that the sea surface temperature in the year 2016 is the hottest over the decade with maximum spatial coverage and prolonged period of occurrence. These anomalous events are also explained in terms of variabilities of the atmospheric water vapour and wind at the sea surface
Compressive strength of eccentrically loaded steel angles.
Forty-seven hot-rolled steel single angles (specified minimum yield stress = 300 MPa) loaded through a single 16 mm bolt on one leg were tested for their compressive resistance. All the connections were snug tight. Fifteen sizes were included in the investigation. Two gauge distances---maximum normal framing eccentricity and minimum edge distance, for each type of specimen were investigated. Out-of-straightness of each angle specimen was measured. The experimental failure loads are compared with loads obtained from a finite element model. The finite element problem has been solved for failure loads under geometric and material nonlinearity. A Newtonian approach with eight-node shell element has been employed for the non-linear solution using commercially available software \u27ABAQUS\u27. The experimental results are compared with those obtained from Finite Element results, CSA S37-94 Antenna, Towers, and Antenna Supporting Structures and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Specification for Load and Resistance Factor Design of Single-Angle members. Grade 3-5 Teachers\u27 Perceptions about their Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices
Many schools are diverse with culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) learners. The problem is that it is unknown if Grade 3-5 teachers in a specific New Jersey school district (SNJSD) perceive their instruction as manifesting characteristics of effective culturally responsive teaching (CRT) and learning practices intended to promote CLD students’ academic growth. The superintendent created an action plan that listed CRT as a solution to meeting needs of diverse students. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to investigate Grade 3-5 teachers’ perceptions regarding their instruction as manifesting characteristics of effective CRT and learning practices in a SNJSD. Gay’s CRT theory that includes eight qualitative attributes of effective CRT framed this study. Grade 3-5 teachers shared perceptions about their ability to provide CRT practices aligned with Gay’s eight attributes of effective CRT. The Grade 3-5 teachers compared their CRT practices to the SNJSD’s action plan used to support student learning during the teaching and learning process. Through purposeful sampling, nine teachers participated in semistructured interviews via Zoom. Data were analyzed thematically, producing four themes: teachers’ perceptions of CRT; more district dedication to CRT; teachers’ requests for additional resources; and lack of knowledge regarding microaggressions, cultural competence, and sensitivity. Results revealed Grade 3-5 teachers requested more CRT support and resources. Grade 3-5 teachers were unaware of microaggressions, cultural competence, and sensitivity. The project was a 3-day training session to support Grade 3-5 teachers’ CRT practices. Implications for social change include improving Grade 3-5 teachers’ CRT practices, curriculum decisions, and student learning during the teaching and learning process
Neural Attentive Session-based Recommendation
Given e-commerce scenarios that user profiles are invisible, session-based
recommendation is proposed to generate recommendation results from short
sessions. Previous work only considers the user's sequential behavior in the
current session, whereas the user's main purpose in the current session is not
emphasized. In this paper, we propose a novel neural networks framework, i.e.,
Neural Attentive Recommendation Machine (NARM), to tackle this problem.
Specifically, we explore a hybrid encoder with an attention mechanism to model
the user's sequential behavior and capture the user's main purpose in the
current session, which are combined as a unified session representation later.
We then compute the recommendation scores for each candidate item with a
bi-linear matching scheme based on this unified session representation. We
train NARM by jointly learning the item and session representations as well as
their matchings. We carried out extensive experiments on two benchmark
datasets. Our experimental results show that NARM outperforms state-of-the-art
baselines on both datasets. Furthermore, we also find that NARM achieves a
significant improvement on long sessions, which demonstrates its advantages in
modeling the user's sequential behavior and main purpose simultaneously.Comment: Proceedings of the 2017 ACM on Conference on Information and
