COVID-19 causing virus is a single stranded RNA virus which has spread across the globe causing human respiratory tract infection. The novel virus which started from Wuhan was named as Wuhan coronavirus or 2019 novel corona virus (2019-nCov) by the Chinese researchers. The international committee on taxonomy of viruses named the virus as SARS-CoV-2 and the disease as COVID-19. There is preliminary in vitro evidence of the ability of CQ and HCQ to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 activity. Various small group clinical studies conducted in china indicated efficacy of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in Covid-19 cases but results were inconclusive. Based on these studies national agencies in various countries issued guidelines mentioning that chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine are only to be used in clinical trials or emergency use programs. However, USFDA does not recommend use of both these drugs for treatment of COVID-19 cases. Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are known to produce dose dependent toxicity including fatal arrhythmias therefore its possible benefit has to be assessed against its risk. Large number of international and national studies are ongoing to assess exact status of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for treatment and prophylaxis of COVID-19 infection. Based on these results ICMR recommend to use hydroxychloroquine for prophylaxis of COVID-19 in India and hydroxychloroquine has been is included  in schedule H1 hence they can be sold by pharmaceutical chemists only strictly with a valid prescription and require record to be maintained but chloroquine is still under schedule H which require to be sold with prescription.

Evaluation of Cyclic Behavior of Aircraft Turbine Disk Alloys

    Get PDF
An evaluation of the cyclic behavior of three aircraft engine turbine disk materials was conducted to compare their relative crack initiation and crack propagation resistance. The disk alloys investigated were Inconel 718, hot isostatically pressed and forged powder metallurgy Rene '95, and as-hot-isostatically pressed Rene '95. The objective was to compare the hot isostatically pressed powder metallurgy alloy forms with conventionally processed superalloys as represented by Inconel 718. Cyclic behavior was evaluated at 650 C both under continuously cycling and a fifteen minute tensile hold time cycle to simulate engine conditions. Analysis of the test data were made to evaluate the strain range partitioning and energy exhaustion concepts for predicting hold time effects on low cycle fatigue

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C23H23ClFN5O2, contains two crystallographically independent molecules. In one molecule, the pyrazole ring makes dihedral angles of 43.93 (7) and 35.82 (7)°, respectively, with the fluoro- and chloro-substituted benzene rings, while the corresponding angles in the other molecule are 52.26 (8) and 36.85 (7)°. The piperazine rings adopt chair conformations. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are connected via intermolecular N—H⋯O, C—H⋯F, C—H⋯N and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane. The crystal structure is further stabilized by a weak π–π interaction with a centroid–centroid distance of 3.6610 (8) Å and by C—H⋯π interactions

The title compound, C10H10N2O, crystallizes with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, having closely comparable geometries. The dihedral angles between the 1H-pyrazole and benzene rings in the two molecules are 39.57 (14) and 41.95 (13)°. The two molecules are each connected to neighbouring molecules by pairs of intermolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming dimers with R 2 2(8) ring motifs. These dimers are further linked into R 4 4(10) ring motifs by intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [101]. The crystal structure is further stabilized by a C—H⋯π interaction

Nutritional Status In A Cohort Of Hemodialysis Patients Receiving Tocotrienol Supplementation

Kidney disease is defined by a loss of kidney function over time [1]. It is expressed in terms of glomerular filtration rate at five stages calculated by the MDRD formula [5]. The fifth stage (\u3c15 mL/min/1.73m2) is designed as end stage renal disease requiring renal replacement therapy in the form of hemodialysis [5]. This requires the use of an artificial kidney (dialyzer) to filter out by-products from the blood for excretion [8]. The issue arises when toxin accumulation due to decreased renal function, dialytic factors such as incompatible dialyzer membranes reacting with blood, and co-morbid conditions such as infection or diabetes mellitus [3]. This increases inflammation within the body, leading to a negative nutrient/energy balance, resulting in a loss of body mass thereby increasing the mortality risk [10]. Tocotrienols (T3), a more potent and underutilized form of Vitamin E, are being administered to attenuate this increase in inflammation via supplementation in addition to food intake. In order to attend to this issue, the nutritional status was assessed utilizing three measures: examining nutrient intake profiles (while supplementation was taken into consideration), obtaining anthropometric findings of body mass index, and analyzing biochemical profiles of serum albumin and pro-inflammatory markers (i.e. IL-6). This data was obtained via a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study of 81 dialysis patients. At two times over the course of 16 weeks, blood collection for serum albumin and inflammatory markers was analyzed and dietary intake was assessed using 24-hour diet recalls and Nutritionist Pro software. Statistical analyses of paired t-tests and correlation studies revealed no significant differences between the two groups later showing no noticeable effect of T3 supplementation. Reasoning may be multifactorial such as underestimation of food intake, transcription of diet recalls may not be truly representative, or T3 supplements may not have had an effect on the nutritional statuses. It may be beneficial for patients to receive more extensive nutritional counseling as opposed to nutritional supplementation to ensure compliancy with recommended intakes

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C25H14ClFN4S, contains two independent molecules (A and B). Each molecule consists of five rings, namely chlorophenyl, fluorophenyl, 1H-pyrazole, thiazole and benzonitrile. In molecule A, the 1H-pyrazole ring makes dihedral angles of 52.54 (8), 35.96 (8) and 15.43 (8)° with respect to the attached chlorophenyl, fluorophenyl and thiazole rings. The corresponding values in molecule B are 51.65 (8), 37.26 (8) and 8.32 (8)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked into dimers by C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, generating R 2 2(10) ring motifs. These dimers are further linked into two-dimensional arrays parallel to the ab plane via intermolecular weak C—H⋯N and C—H⋯F hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further stabilized by weak π-π interactions [with centroid–centroid distances of 3.4303 (9) and 3.6826 (9) Å] and weak C—H⋯π interactions

    \u3ci\u3eNostra Aetate\u3c/i\u3e to Combat Anti-Judaism

This essay explores the reason the Catholic Church felt the need to release Nostra Aetate, specifically Article 4, and were they in fact successful. The intention to improve Catholic - Jewish relationship and to denounce anti-Judaism were primary. Christianity grew on the backs of centuries of anti-Judaism rhetoric expressed by Catholic Church leaders and anti-Jewish literature written by the Church fathers. All this negativity against the Jewish people contributed to the beginnings of anti-Semitism and purposely or inadvertently influenced the reality of the Shoah. These sentiments included the deicide condemnation of the Jewish people, the replacement theory or concept of supersessionism, and the Church’s continued attempts to evangelize the Jewish people proclaiming salvation only through Jesus Christ. Desecration of synagogues, hate messages against the Jewish people and violence against the Jewish nation continues up to this very day. Proposals by the United States National Catholic Bishops calling for critical changes in Church beliefs and teachings have not been realized. The intended transformative message of Nostra Aetate seems to be confined to theologians and scholars, unknown to Christian believers of our time. The pedagogy of the Crucifixion, and the hermeneutics of the blood cry must be rectified, otherwise we will keep encountering events that may very well lead us to another Holocaust. Unless Christians learn to read, understand, and interpret Scripture from the vantage point that Yeshua is, was and will always be a Jew, any path towards reconciliation between Christians and Jews, is very unlikely
