This paper proposes methodological aspects of evaluation of organization efficiency of personnel management and motivation on the bases of application of economic and mathematical tools by implementing a three-component algorithmic model. The structural divisions heads’ work effectiveness evaluation is carried out on the basis of econometric systems of structural equations that allow you to rank personality, communicative, innovative, social and corporate managers characteristics that have the greatest impact on the overall performance indicators of the bank staff among which are considered amount of attracted funds;  assessment of employee's compliance with the standard;  activity efficiency (number of contracts); contribution to development. The obtained modeling results confirm the hypothesis that structural unit managers need to work on the development of their communicative, innovative, personal and social characteristics. Models for analyzing the personnel motivation factors on the bases of the methodology of multivariate statistical factor analysis with initial list of 13 main indicators of staff motivation are proposed; as a result, we set up the aggregated factors that reflect the properties of several motivational components such as financial, social incentives and medical insurance for employees. The model for estimating influence of motivation factors on results of bank's activity on the bases of nonlinear econometric functions is constructed. The regression equation of the motivation factors  influence on the bank total profit is obtained. The proposed model toolkit for evaluation of efficiency of management and staff motivation will allow the bank's management to improve motivation and incentives mechanisms in order to raise efficiency of stuff productivity in direction of increasing bank profitability and competitiveness.

Similarity of organized patterns in driving and basal stresses of Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets beneath extensive areas of basal sliding

The rate of ice transport from the interior of ice sheets to their margins, and hence the rate with which it contributes to sea level, is determined by the balance of driving stress, basal resistance, and ice internal deformation. Using recent high-resolution observations of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets, we compute driving stress and ice deformation velocities, inferring basal traction by inverse techniques. The results reveal broad-scale organization in 5–20 km band-like patterns in both the driving and basal shear stresses located in zones with substantial basal sliding. Both ice sheets experience basal sliding over areas substantially larger than previously recognized. The likely cause of the spatial patterns is the development of a band-like structure in the basal shear stress distribution that is the results of pattern-forming instabilities related to subglacial water. The similarity of patterns on the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets suggests that the flow of ice sheets is controlled by the same fundamental processes operating at their base, which control ice sheet sliding and are highly variable on relatively short spatial and temporal scales, with poor predictability. This has far-reaching implications for understanding of the current and projection of the future ice sheets' evolution

Improvement of Adhesion of the Wheels of the Railway Carriage to the Rails by Means of Supply of the Scale and Magnetite Particles to the Contact Zone

The article proposes a method to improve adhesion of the wheels to the rails of the railway carriage by means of supply of abrasive loose materials as an alternative to quartz sand to the zone of their contact: metal scale (Fe₃O₄ ) being the waste of rolling and forging, as well as the iron oxide—magnetite (FeO·Fe₂O₃) of the natural origin. The comparative assessment of efficiency of use of scale and magnetite was carried out in relation to quartz sand traditionally used for railway transport. The adhesion coefficient and wear intensity are used as comparison criteria

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm experiment and Bell inequality violation using Type 2 parametric down conversion

We report a new two-photon polarization correlation experiment for realizing the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPRB) state and for testing Bell-type inequalities. We use the pair of orthogonally-polarized light quanta generated in Type 2 parametric down conversion. Using 1 nm interference filters in front of our detectors, we observe from the output of a 0.5mm beta - BaB2O4 (BBO) crystal the EPRB correlations in coincidence counts, and measure an associated Bell inequality violation of 22 standard deviations. The quantum state of the photon pair is a polarization analog of the spin-1/2 singlet state

Background. Targeted therapy in patients with cystic fibrosis, which aims to restore the function of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator protein, is currently revolutionary in the treatment of the disease. The first drug available in Russia for the treatment of patients with this genetic disease is lumacaftor/ivacaftor (Orkambi®), which was registered on December 2, 2020.The aim. To study the efficacy of lumacaftor/ivacaftor during 12 weeks of administration in children in Astrakhan region.Materials and methods. This article presents the clinical experience of Orkambi medicine use in 3 children with F508del/F508del genotype and a severe course of cystic fibrosis for 12 weeks. According to the study design, such indices as body mass index, indexes of external respiratory function, character of respiratory tract microbiota, level of chloride in sweat fluid and pancreatic elastase in feces, dynamics of biochemical blood indexes were evaluated. The study was performed within the time periods specified in the study protocol, namely, before the start of therapy, 2, 4, and 12 weeks of treatment.Results. Two patients had a decrease in sweat test values by 11 and 19 mmol/l from the baseline, a significant increase in forced vital capacity of lungs. One patient had an adverse event in the form of hepatobiliary disorders manifested by increased liver transaminase activity, which was the reason for discontinuing the drug.Conclusions. The short-term experience of using pathogenetic therapy with lumacaftor/ ivacaftor in children in the Astrakhan region demonstrated both the expected effect on chlorine channel function and the possibility of side effects, including severe ones, that can lead to withdrawal of the drug

Discovery of an unusual bright eclipsing binary with the longest known period: TYC 2505-672-1 / MASTER OT J095310.04+335352.8

We report on the MASTER Global Robotic Net discovery of an eclipsing binary, MASTER OT J095310.04+335352.8, previously known as unremarkable star TYC 2505-672-1, which displays extreme orbital parameters. The orbital period P=69.1 yr is more than 2.5 times longer than that of epsilon-Aurigae, which is the previous record holder. The light curve is characterized by an extremely deep total eclipse with a depth of more than 4.5 mag, which is symmetrically shaped and has a total duration of 3.5 yrs. The eclipse is essentially gray. The spectra acquired with the Russian 6 m BTA telescope both at minimum and maximum light mainly correspond to an M0-1III--type red giant, but the spectra taken at the bottom of eclipse show small traces of a sufficiently hot source. The observed properties of this system can be better explained as the red giant eclipsed by a large cloud (the disk) of small particles surrounding the invisible secondary companion.Comment: 8 figures, 9 pages, Astronomy and astrophysics in prin

The photon: Experimental emphasis on its wave-particle duality

    Get PDF
Two types of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen experiments were demonstrated recently in our laboratory. It is interesting to see that in an interference experiment (wave-like experiment) the photon exhibits its particle property, and in a beam-splitting experiment (particle-like experiment) the photon exhibits its wave property. The two-photon states are produced from Type 1 and Type 2 optical spontaneous parametric down conversion, respectively

A broadband source of polarization entangled photons based on type-II spontaneous parametric down conversion from a chirped PPKTP crystal is presented. With numerical simulation and experimental evaluation, we report a source of broadband polarization entangled states with a bandwidth of approximately 125 nm for use in quantum interferometry. The technique has the potential to become a basis for the development of flexible broadband sources with designed spectral properties. © 2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 270.4180, 230.4320. A challenge in high resolution quantum interferometry is the production of high quality broadband polarization entangled states. In the past, broad spectra have been produced with thin crystals since the bandwidth of the spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) spectrum is inversely proportional to the length of the crystal By considering the crystal as a superposition of distributed sources along the propagation direction whose lengths vary linearly as illustrated in the inset of z j − z 0 with j ∈ 1; N, where N is the number of distributed sources, p 0 is the degenerate phase matching period given by p 0 2λ p ∕2n p λ p − n s 2λ p − n i 2λ p , Δp is a chirping parameter, z j is the location of the jth source, and z 0 is the location of p 0 along the propagation axis. For example, a chirped crystal with 20% chirping and p 0 located in the center of the crystal has parameters Δp 0.2 and z 0 L c ∕2, where L c is the total length of the crystal. Assuming a plane wave pump and considering only the collinear signal and idler modes, the joint spectrum of SPDC photons is proportional to the Fourier transform of the longitudinally varying second order nonlinear coefficient. Following the procedure from where The spectrum results from a superposition of single crystal spectra, which is evident from the sum of sinc functions. Because of a position dependent spectral phase, the output spectrum will have "bumpy" features due to interference from spectral components born at different locations in the crystal. The measured tuning curves displaying the spatial and spectral structure of a chirped PPKTP crystal with Δp 0.2 and z 0 L c ∕2 are shown i
