Multicolor genomic in situ hybridization (mcGISH) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) using repetitive DNA probes were used to characterize the genomic composition of the wheat-Thinopyrum ponticum partial amphiploid BE-1. The amphiploid is a high-protein line having resistance to leaf rust (Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici) and powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici) and has in total 56 chromosomes per cell. Multicolor GISH revealed 16 chromosomes originating from Thinopyrum ponticum and 14 A genome, 14 B genome and 12 D genome chromosomes. Rearrangements involving Thinopyrum chromosomes and the A, B and D genomes of wheat were visualised. FISH using repetitive DNA probes allowed the identification of all wheat chromosomes present and the determination of the chromosomes involved in translocations

Poetic Images, Presence, and the Theater of Kenotic Rituals

This book explores the interrelation of contemporary French theatre and poetry. Using the pictorial turn in the various branches of art and science, its observable features, and the theoretical framework of the conceptual metaphor, this study seeks to gather together the divergent manners in which French poetry and theatre address this turn. Poetry in space and theatricality of poetry are studied alongside theatre, especially to the performative aspect of the originally theological concept of ""kenosis"". In doing so the author attempts to make use of the theological concept of kenosis, of central importance in Novarina’s oeuvre, for theatrical and dramatological purposes. Within poetic rituals, kenotic rituals are also examined in the book in a few theatrical practices – János Pilinszky and Robert Wilson, Jerzy Grotowski and Eugenio Barba – facilitating a better understanding of Novarina’s works. Accompanied by new English translations in the appendices, this is the first English language monograph related to the French essayist, dramaturg and director Valère Novarina’s theatre, and will be of great interest to students and scholars in theatre and literature studies

Leukemia is a most common children malignancy. Chemotherapy has been very effective in the management of leukemias. Chemotherapy is a systemic therapy, therefore the chemotherapy drug is not only directly related to the cancer but also damaged the normal tissue. Physiological effect of chemotherapy is important to be inspected because each individual is unique so it has different physiological effect, so it will require different treatment. The aim of this research is to understand physiological effect of chemotherapy in children with leukemia. This research is quantitative research, used descriptive analitic. The sample of this research were 30 sample with total sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire of physiological effect of chemotherapy. The results showed that the physiological effect of chemotherapy were children with alopecia of 24 (80%) , Nausea of 17 (56.7%), vomiting of 16 children (53.3%); Decreased appetite of 14 children (46.7%); oral ulceration of 19 children (63.3%);Diarrhea of 3 children (10%); Fatigue of 14 children (46.7%); increase in risk factors for infection consisting of fever of 16 children (53.3%), cough of 13 children (43.3%), and flu of 8 children (26.7%); Bruises of 8 children (26.7%), bleeding of 14 children (46.7%); and other side effects there are 14 children (40%). The conclusion of this research is the most common physiological effects of children undergoing chemotherapy are alopecia, oral ulceration, nausea and vomiting, and feve

Chromosome–nuclear envelope tethering – a process that orchestrates homologue pairing during plant meiosis?

During prophase I of meiosis, homologous chromosomes pair, synapse and exchange their genetic material through reciprocal homologous recombination, a phenomenon essential for faithful chromosome segregation. Partial sequence identity between non-homologous and heterologous chromosomes can also lead to recombination (ectopic recombination), a highly deleterious process that rapidly compromises genome integrity. To avoid ectopic exchange, homology recognition must be extended from the narrow position of a crossover-competent double-strand break to the entire chromosome. Here, we review advances on chromosome behaviour during meiotic prophase I in higher plants, by integrating centromere- and telomere dynamics driven by cytoskeletal motor proteins, into the processes of homologue pairing, synapsis and recombination. Centromere–centromere associations and the gathering of telomeres at the onset of meiosis at opposite nuclear poles create a spatially organised and restricted nuclear state in which homologous DNA interactions are favoured but ectopic interactions also occur. The release and dispersion of centromeres from the nuclear periphery increases the motility of chromosome arms, allowing meiosis-specific movements that disrupt ectopic interactions. Subsequent expansion of interstitial synapsis from numerous homologous interactions further corrects ectopic interactions. Movement and organisation of chromosomes, thus, evolved to facilitate the pairing process, and can be modulated by distinct stages of chromatin associations at the nuclear envelope and their collective release

    Gyümölcsültetvények nedváramlási dinamikája

Kutatásunkban egyedi, fatörzsön mért nedváramlási adatokra támaszkodva megvizsgáltuk, hogy hogyan változik a vízfelvétel mértéke intenzív módon művelt, sűrű ültetésű cseresznyeültetvényben. Számításokat végeztünk a fák és az ültetvény egészének vízfogyasztására vonatkozóan, a vegetációs időszak bizonyos hónapjaira. Kiszámítottuk, hogy helyi körülmények között hogyan változik a haszonnövény transzspirációs index értéke korai érésű, intenzív cseresznyeültetvényre. A nedváramlás és a légköri viszonyok – mint külső vezérlő tényezők – között fennálló kapcsolatrendszer megismeréséhez a hőmérséklettel, a globálsugárzással, a telítési hiánnyal és a széllel való kapcsolatot vizsgáltuk. Méréseinket a Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem Soroksári Kísérleti Üzem és Tangazdaságában végeztük 2008-tól 2011-ig a vegetációs időszakokban

Non-destructive texture measurement methods for centreless X-ray diffractometers in reverse modified Χ (CHI) mode

    Get PDF
Conventional X-ray diffraction-based pole figure measurements have been carried on with dedicated instrument which are accompanied with certain limitations such as sample size, geometry, and no possibility for on-site measurements. These restrictions limit the availability of texture measurements to situations in which cutting a small sample from large parts is difficult or even not allowed at all. The present paper introduces new texture measurement method developed on mobile centreless X-ray diffractometers which are originally applied for residual stress measurements. The essence of this new method, named reverse modified mode is that it uses the data obtained by residual stress measurement to describe anisotropic characteristics, even to the determination of pole figure. Using this method, pole figures can be obtained with all the benefits of centreless diffractometers: no need for sample cutting, flexibility in case of large components with complex shapes, short measuring time and portability. The obtained pole figures are equivalent to the pole figures determined by conventional diffractometers. The presentation describes the measurement method and includes the validation with conventional pole figure measurements and provides instances of applications of the new technique
