Modification of binder with tyre rubber and polymeric networks for usage in road asphalt mixes

Hybrid modification is a relatively new concept of incorporating two or more polymeric modifiers of different nature to a bitumen, in order to take advantage of their complementary features. However, the problem of its inherent storage instability is a major concern that limits the industrial application. Hybrid Systems (HSs) were formulated by the addition of different copolymer (reactive and non-reactive) to a model rubberised binder (Crumb Tyre Rubber Modified Bitumen). The resulting HSs were evaluated by means of thermos rheological analysis, technological characterisation, fluorescence microscopy and modulated differential scanning calorimetry. The results obtained pointed out that both, in-service properties and storage stability were notably enhanced by the development of a complex multiphasic structure of: polymer-rich and asphaltene-rich phases, non-degraded rubber particles and digested rubber chains. This enhancement is attributed to the development of a multiphasic system composed of non-dissolved CTR particles, a polymer-rich phase and an asphaltene rich-phase. In the case of non-reactive HSs, droplets of swollen ethylene copolymer form a well-defined dispersed phase. By contrast, reactive HSs display a different morphology, almost invisible by optical techniques, as consequence to the development of a chemical network that yields by far the highest degree of modification

Introduction: Over the last years there has been an increase in community pharmacy participation in research projects. Patient recruitment plays a key role in the research project success. Pharmacists’ barriers and enablers of recruitment have been identified, but little is known about the influence of research project-related factors. The aim of this paper is to explore patient participation in different studies conducted in community pharmacies and to identify study-specific factors that may be associated with it. Method: An experimental multicenter study was performed in 12 community pharmacies participating in 4 research projects. The number of patients who accepted/refused to participate was recorded. Variables related to each offered study and the project were collected. A bivariate analysis using Pearson’s Chi-Square test and a risk analysis were performed. Results: Participation rate was 90.44 % (n=558). Study type (OR=2.64; 95 % CI=1.47-4.75; cross-sectional vs pragmatic), the type of measurement applied (OR=2.47; 95 % CI=1.43-4.36), the use of a personalized care area (PCA) (OR=2.49; 95 % CI=1.44-4.39), and personal data request (OR=2.53; 95 %CI=1.47-4.42) showed association with participation in the RP (p<0.05). Conclusions: Patient participation in research projects is high and appears to rely on study-specific factors.

Superspace evaluation of the two-loop effective potential for the O'Raifeartaigh model

All-order spurion-corrected superpropagators and superfield Feynman rules are employed to systematically compute a two-loop corrected effective potential for the O'Raifeartaigh model, that realizes spontaneous supersymmetry breaking. Though the shifted superpropagators are rather nontrivial, superspace techniques may be suitably extended and confirm their efficacy in computing radiative corrections even when supersymmetry breakdown occurs.Comment: 24 pages, 2 figures, revtex4, 2 pages added, new appendix adde

Some authors point to the analysis of enterprise cooperation, as a dynamic process, as a future line of research. Within this context and looking at second grade Andalusian oil cooperative movement, we analyse of there is a positive association between the degree of adherence to the cooperative protocol and the development of the cooperation agreement, paying attention to its influence on the achievement of the objectives set forward in the agreement. results suggest that there is a link: the cooperatives that followed strictly the several stages of the cooperation agreement managed better commercial results in the joint commercial framework than those than did not.Cooperation agreements, cooperative integration, dynamic analysis, commercial development.

Introduction: Many lifestyle habits can negatively affect sleep quality (SQ) and lead to poor quality of life. This makes it important to determine the prevalence of poor SQ in the population and the lifestyle habits that may be associated with it, with a view to designing appropriate interventions for improving SQ. The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence of poor SQ among the population of Salamanca (Spain) and its relationship with specific lifestyle habits Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out between July and November 2019. SQ was studied in 261 patients using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the frequency with which patients performed a series of lifestyle habits was quantified. The association between variables was assessed using multivariate binary logistic regression. Results: Almost half of the study population (48.7%) was found to have poor SQ. Physical exercise was a protective factor against poor SQ (OR = 0.221; CI95%: 0.081-0.603). Risk factors for poor SQ included being disturbed at night (OR = 3.606; CI95%: 1.892-6.872), going to bed preoccupied (OR = 3.145; CI95%: 1.528-6.471), reading trivial material (OR = 2.475; CI95%: 1.208-5.070), and playing video games (OR = 3.639; CI95%: 1.326-9.984). Conclusions: In Salamanca (Spain), almost half of the study population stated that they suffered poor SQ. Although numerous lifestyle habits that may relate to poor SQ were studied, a statistically significant relationship was only found for a few of them.

Purpose – Celebrity endorsement is a phenomenon widely used by companies and studied by researchers. Despite the generally positive aspects of endorsement on the evaluation of products, in some cases, celebrities cannot substantially help promote products. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement effect in an aspiring new celebrity. Design/methodology/approach – Four studies involving 664 respondents were conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the endorsement. In addition to verifying the existence of the effect (Study 1), studies were conducted focusing on contextual variables with the potential to modify effect. Study 2 analyzes the brand and charisma effects, Study 3 analyzes the congruence between celebrities and Study 4 analyzes the exposure level of the endorser celebrity. Findings – The results demonstrate the effectiveness of this celebrity endorsement, as well as the effect of different contexts on endorsement, demonstrating that although new celebrities are less affected by acclaimed celebrities, as they become better known, to use the endorsement of celebrities with charisma and who relating in some way to the aspiring celebrity, can be an effective strategy, especially for the beginners in the career. Originality/value – This research contributes to the knowledge of celebrity endorsement to fill the lack pointed out in previous studies in the field over the effectiveness of this effect and, above all, the moderator variables that can influence or even annul this effect. In addition, by developing its own image and reputation, the aspiring new celebrity receives less influence from the endorser
