One of the problems faced by students of Al-Ikhwan Islamic Boarding School is personal hygiene, such as skin hygiene, hands, nails, genitalia, feet and clothes. Bad habits in maintaining personal hygiene are one cause of health problems in the form of scabies disease. Scabies is one of the most common skin diseases. This study aimed to determine the analysis of environmental sanitation and personal hygiene with the incident of scabies at Al-Ikhwan boarding school Pekanbaru City. This research used the method of analytical description and cross sectional design. The population in this study were santriwati which amounted to 143 students. The sample in this study were 83 students with the inclusion criteria being students who were willing to become a respondent in class VII until IX. Sampling technique used simple random sampling. Chi Square statistical test results for personal hygiene p = 0.047, POR (95% CI) = 3.010 (1.119-8.098) means that there was a relationship between personal hygiene and the occurrence of scabies at Al-Ikhwan Islamic Boarding School and there was also a relationship between knowledge and scabies at Al-Ikhwan Islamic Boarding School with a value of p = 0.011, POR (95% CI) = 0.254 (0.095-0.681). Suggestion for the management of Islamic boarding school to provide additional lessons and counseling about the pattern of hygienic behavior and personal hygiene to the santri in order to generate a high awareness of good health behavior in preventing transmission of scabies diseases

Streptococcus suis bacteria are one of the most serious health problems for pigs and an emerging zoonotic agent in humans working in the swine industry. S. suis bacteria express capsular polysaccharides (CPS) a major bacterial virulence factor that define the serotypes. Oligosaccharides resembling the CPS of S. suis serotypes 2, 3, 9, and 14 have been synthesized, glycans related to serotype 2 and 9 were placed on glycan array surfaces to screen blood from infected pigs. Lead antigens for the development of semi-synthetic S. suis serotype 2 and 9 glycoconjugate veterinary vaccines were identified in this way

Abstract Genotoxic effect as tested of chronic exposure to three different concentrations of Chromium (III) on polytene chromosomes of larvae of Chironomus riparius (syn. Chironomus thummi) from the embryonic stage to the IV larval instar for two successive generations. In chromosomes AB, CD, EF and G significant differences of chromosome aberrations were found between exposed and control larvae as well as changes in functional activity (induction of novel puffs not corresponding to those induced during normal larval development in arms A, B, C and E, telomeric and centromeric decondensations especially at telomeres of chromosome G and arm C.). No significant differences were found between the effects of the three treatments nor between the two generations. In chromosome G the Balbiani Ring system (where some permanently active regions are involved in transcription of salivary proteins) appeared as a model for studying the response of the genome to Cr (III) treatment.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy and effectiveness of nintedanib as a first-line therapy in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients have been demonstrated by clinical trials and real-life studies. Our aim was to examine the safety profile and effectiveness of nintedanib when it is utilized as a second-line treatment in subjects who have discontinued pirfenidone. METHODS: The medical charts of 12 patients who were switched from pirfenidone to nintedanib were examined retrospectively. The drug's safety was defined by the number of adverse events (AEs) that were reported; disease progression was evaluated based on the patient's vital status and changes in forced vital capacity (FVC) at 12-month follow-up. RESULTS: The numbers of patients experiencing AEs and of the AEs per patient in our study group didn't significantly differ with respect to a group of 56 individuals who were taking nintedanib as a first-line therapy during the study period (5/12 vs. 22/56; p = 0.9999, and 0.00 (0.00-1.00) vs. 0.00 (0.00-3.00); p = 0.517, respectively). Two out of the 3 patients who had been switched to nintedanib due to a rapid disease progression showed stabilized FVC values. CONCLUSIONS: Nintedanib was found to have an acceptable safety profile in the majority of the IPF patients switched from pirfenidone. Prospective studies are warranted to determine if the drug can effectively delay disease progression in these patients

Dancing, which is integrally related to music, likely has its origins close to the birth of Homo sapiens, and throughout our history, dancing has been universally practiced in all societies. We hypothesized that there are differences among individuals in aptitude, propensity, and need for dancing that may partially be based on differences in common genetic polymorphisms. Identifying such differences may lead to an understanding of the neurobiological basis of one of mankind's most universal and appealing behavioral traits—dancing. In the current study, 85 current performing dancers and their parents were genotyped for the serotonin transporter (SLC6A4: promoter region HTTLPR and intron 2 VNTR) and the arginine vasopressin receptor 1a (AVPR1a: promoter microsatellites RS1 and RS3). We also genotyped 91 competitive athletes and a group of nondancers/nonathletes (n = 872 subjects from 414 families). Dancers scored higher on the Tellegen Absorption Scale, a questionnaire that correlates positively with spirituality and altered states of consciousness, as well as the Reward Dependence factor in Cloninger's Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire, a measure of need for social contact and openness to communication. Highly significant differences in AVPR1a haplotype frequencies (RS1 and RS3), especially when conditional on both SLC6A4 polymorphisms (HTTLPR and VNTR), were observed between dancers and athletes using the UNPHASED program package (Cocaphase: likelihood ratio test [LRS] = 89.23, p = 0.000044). Similar results were obtained when dancers were compared to nondancers/nonathletes (Cocaphase: LRS = 92.76, p = 0.000024). These results were confirmed using a robust family-based test (Tdtphase: LRS = 46.64, p = 0.010). Association was also observed between Tellegen Absorption Scale scores and AVPR1a (Qtdtphase: global chi-square = 26.53, p = 0.047), SLC6A4 haplotypes (Qtdtphase: chi-square = 2.363, p = 0.018), and AVPR1a conditional on SCL6A4 (Tdtphase: LRS = 250.44, p = 0.011). Similarly, significant association was observed between Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire Reward Dependence scores and AVPR1a RS1 (chi-square = 20.16, p = 0.01). Two-locus analysis (RS1 and RS3 conditional on HTTLPR and VNTR) was highly significant (LRS = 162.95, p = 0.001). Promoter repeat regions in the AVPR1a gene have been robustly demonstrated to play a role in molding a range of social behaviors in many vertebrates and, more recently, in humans. Additionally, serotonergic neurotransmission in some human studies appears to mediate human religious and spiritual experiences. We therefore hypothesize that the association between AVPR1a and SLC6A4 reflects the social communication, courtship, and spiritual facets of the dancing phenotype rather than other aspects of this complex phenotype, such as sensorimotor integration
