MiRNA-34 and stress response

Psychiatric disorders are known to result from a strong interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental factors, mainly exposure to stressful events. Environmental events can modulate genes expression, possibly via epigenetic mechanisms, and affect onset/expression of a disease [1]. Epigenetic mechanisms include, among others, post-transcriptional regulation by non-coding RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs). MiRNAs are small non-coding RNAs predicted to regulate hundreds of targets and to be engaged in every biological process [2]. Thanks to their ability to fine-tune gene expression, miRNAs can control gene expression patterns favoring organism’s adaptation to internal and environmental (external) factors [3], such as stressful events

Como sabemos la heteronormatividad se funda en el reconocimiento único de dos sexos claramente definidos que se vinculan en función de la procreación. A los dos sexos, a la pareja heterosexual y a la familia por ella construida se los define como “naturales”. Para sostener este orden de cosas concurrieron a lo largo del tiempo las religiones tradicionales, el derecho y la sexología. Los tres poderes utilizaron toda su fuerza (estigmatización, castigo, eventual muerte) y su capacidad de encierro (conventos, cárceles, manicomios) para sostener esa “naturalidad” lo que resulta claramente contradictorio dado que lo natural debería haberse sostenido por sus propios medios. Los libros y las bibliotecas tuvieron un lugar central en la vida de Guillermo Obbiols. Siempre conservó el carnet que lo identificaba como socio de la sala infantil de la Biblioteca Pública Central de esta ciudad así como el que obtuvo cuando era estudiante para acceder a esta misma biblioteca que a partir de hoy va a llevar su nombre. Quisiera, como ejemplo de su relación con los libros, hacer una brevísima referencia a uno que, creo, lo marcó profundamente. Muchas veces le escuché mencionar a lo largo de los años ese texto autobiográfico de Sartre, Las palabras, señalando con admiración que sus dos únicos capítulos fueran nombrados con las actividades a las que Guillermo dedicó la mayor parte de su vida: leer y escribir.Departamento de Filosofí

Note autografe di Giovanni Pico della Mirandola a un esemplare della Guida dei perplessi

Some of the manuscripts once part of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola’s collection transmit autograph notes, which have been useful to reconstruct his library. A peculiar case is represented by the notes transmitted in a codex containing the Latin translation of Moses Maimonides’ Guide of the Perplexed. These notes are actual corrections to the translation made mostly on the basis of a comparison with the Hebrew text, while in some other cases they derive from a specific interpretation. The aim of this paper is to present some characteristics of the textual revisions, in particular with reference to the Hebrew source. The palaeographic data demonstrate Pico’s direct involvement, which leads to the question of the authorship of these notes, namely if they were the result of an autonomous work or of a collaboration with some other scholar

¿De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de “culturas juveniles en la enseñanza media”?

This work attempts to question the propositions of this dossier, that is, youth cultures in high schools, in order to allow the visualization of their underlying tensions. Firstly, youth cultures/adult culture tension is analyzed, considering youth culture origins and current developments; the consumer market/youth rebelliousness tension; the new/old tension; the Authority/authorities tension. All this within the National State crisis context and the loss of meaning of the school institution, particularly at the secondary level. Finally, the knowledge/ acknowledgement of youth cultures is deemed mandatory, as part of the process by which we teachers assume responsibility for the world we represent in order to build our authority, while acknowledging the authority of the young. The proposition includes learning from teachers working in rural and marginal areas in conditions of socio-economical diversity and multiple cultures, since these conditions currently appear in most schools as a result of changes in the second half of the twentieth century.Se trata aquí de problematizar la propuesta de este dossier, las culturas juveniles en la enseñanza media, permitiendo visibilizar las tensiones que subyacen a la misma. En primer lugar se analiza la tensión culturas juveniles/cultura adulta considerando los orígenes de las culturas juveniles y sus desarrollos actuales; la tensión mercado de consumo/rebeldía juvenil; la tensión nuevo/viejo; la tensión Autoridad/autoridades. Todo esto dentro del contexto de la crisis del Estado Nación y la pérdida de sentido de la institución escolar en particular en el nivel medio. Finalmente, se considera imperioso conocer/reconocer las culturas juveniles como parte del proceso por el cual los/las educadores/as nos hacemos responsables por el mundo que representamos de manera de construir nuestra autoridad reconociendo la de los jóvenes. Se propone aprender de los educadores que trabajaron en zonas rurales y marginales en condiciones de diversidad socioeconómica y multicultural ya que aquellas aparecen hoy en la mayoría de las escuelas por los cambios ocurridos en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. RELEYENDO ADOLESCENCIA, POSMODERNIDAD Y ESCUELA: Veinte años después

RESUMEN Hace 20 años, en 1993, publicamos con Guillermo Obiols Adolescencia, posmodernidad y escuela. En ese texto analizábamos la llamada “crisis modernidad/posmodernidad”, la adolescencia y la escuela media atravesadas por ella. La pregunta que guía esta relectura es: ¿qué ha cambiado en estos veinte años? Lamentablemente no está Guillermo para actualizar el análisis de época y puntos fundamentales en relación a la escuela y a la adolescencia así que ésta será, necesariamente, una relectura parcial de ese trabajo. Me resulta enriquecedor incorporar al análisis los conceptos de sociedad disciplinar y sociedad de control (Deleuze, 1991) y hacer hincapié en que la época que nos toca vivir ha terminado con algunas certezas.   PALABRAS CLAVE: Posmodernidad; adolescencia; escuela.     RESUMO Há 20 anos atrás, em 1993, a autora publicou com Guillermo Obiols Adolescência, pós-modernidade e escola. Neste texto serão analisados a chamada crise da modernidade/pós-modernidade", a adolescência e o ensino médio permeados por ela. A questão norteadora desta releitura é: o que mudou em vinte anos? A autora adverte que devido a ausência de Guillermo Obiols, para atualizar o período de análise e pontos-chave em relação à escola e adolescência o texto será uma releitura parcial desse trabalho. São incorporados à análise os conceitos de sociedade disciplinar e sociedade de controle (Deleuze, 1991) para enfatizar que nos tempos atuais não existem mais algumas certezas.   PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Pós-modernidade; adolescência; escola.     ABSTRACT Twenty years ago, in 1993, the author published with Guillermo Obiols Adolescence, postmodernity and school. In this text, the so-called crisis of modernity / postmodernity will be analyzed, "adolescence and high school permeated by it." Literal and Non-Literal Translation in Maimonides’ Dux neutrorum

The question of the Dux neutrorum’s origin has been lengthily debated. To disclose part its “mystery” it would be useful to understand the cultural project behind such an enterprise: Why was this text translated and who was the public addressed? A closer examination of the translation technique can reveal important information concerning the historical and methodological circumstances of the Dux neutrorum’s composition: is it to be considered as a literal translation or as a paraphrase? Are some original passages omitted, and if yes, which ones? The answer to these questions could reveal the aim that moved the translator, by indicating his interest with regard to some sections and disinterest with regard to omitted passages. Secondly, it provides information that can be compared to similar methods applied within the context of the thirteenth-century translation movement.La question de l’origine du Dux neutrorum a été longuement débattue. Pour y répondre, il serait utile de comprendre ce qu’était le projet culturel de cette traduction. Pourquoi ce texte a-t-il été traduit et quel en était le destinataire ? Une analyse approfondie de la méthode de traduction pourrait donner des informations importantes sur les circonstances historiques et les particularités méthodologiques de la composition du Dux neutrorum : ce texte doit-il être considéré comme une traduction littérale ou plutôt comme une paraphrase ? Y a-t-il des passages omis ? La réponse à ces questions pourrait indiquer le but du traducteur, en montrant son intérêt pour certaines sections ainsi que son manque d’intérêt pour les passages omis. Ces informations pourraient être utiles pour une comparaison avec les méthodes appliquées dans le cadre du mouvement des traductions vers le latin au treizième siècle.שאלת מקורו של התרגום הלטיני כבר נידונה רבות. כדי לענות עליה כדאי לבדוק את ההקשר התרבותי של מפעל זה: מהן הסיבות שהוליכו לתרגום ומי היה קהל היעד שלו? ניתוח שיטת התרגום עשוי לגלות מידע בעל חשיבות הן על הנסיבות ההסטוריות של מלאכת התרגום והן על השיקולים המתודולוגיים בקומפוזיציה שלו. השאלות המרכזיות הן : האם התרגום הינו מילולי או שמדובר בעיבוד? האם ניתן לאתר קטעים שהושמטו? תשובה על שאלות אלו עשוייה לחשוף את מטרותיו של המתרגם, את מידת העניין (או חוסר העניין) שהוא מגלה בקטעים נתונים ובנוסף לכך ניתן להשוות את שיטת התרגום עם אותן האופייניות לתנועת התרגום ללטינית במאה ה-13
