The main aim of this study is to investigate the moderating role of marital satisfaction in explaining the relationship between perfectionism and both dimensions of work-family conict (i.e. family-to-work and work-to-family). The study also examines gender differences regarding both dimensions of work-family conict. The study included 132 married participants (57 female, 75 male). In order to collect data from the participants demographic information form, Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, Relationship Stability Scale and Work-Family Conict Scale were used. The results of the t-test analysis for independent samples have revealed a signicant gender difference indicating that men experience higher levels of family-to-work conict. As a result of the hierarchical regression analyses, marital satisfaction was found to have a moderating role in explaining the relationship between perfectionism and both dimensions of workfamily conict. It was found that compared to perfectionism, marital satisfaction is more related to work-family conict in marriage

ABSTRACT KESKİN, Seçil İrem. A Technical Anaylsis of Lajos Montag Double Bass Method (1) Master of Arts Thesis, Ankara, 2018. This research, is designed to study the method of playing double bass techniques written by Lajos Montag, who is regarded as one of the most significant pedagogues and virtuosos of the instrument, and aims to determine what technical teachings and methods the double bass students at the beginner level should acquire to learn the instrument and thus move along. It has also been aimed to discover the conveniences and advantages of this method which was primarily written for the beginner level in double bass training both for educators and students.ÖZET KESKİN, Seçil İrem.

Bulgular: Çalışmaya 51’i erkek, 39’u kız olmak üzere toplam 90 hasta alındı. Etiyolojik faktörler incelendiğinde olguların %33,3’de asfiksi görüldü. En sık görülen serebral palsi tipi %43,3 oranında spastik quadripleji idi. Olgularımızın %60’ında göz problemleri tesbit edildi. Bunun %54,4’nü kırma kusurları, %35,6’sını şaşılık, %22,2’sini optik sinir patolojileri oluşturmaktaydı. Ambliyopi olguların %11,1’inde görüldü. Serebral palsinin spastik dipleji tipinde şaşılık daha fazla görülmesine rağmen, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık yoktu. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak serebral palsili çocuklarda göz problemleri sık görülmektedir. Bu nedenle, hastaların algılama ve iletişim güçlüklerini azaltmada faydalı olacağından rutin göz muayenesi öneriyoruz. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate eye problems in children with cerebral palsy in our region. Materials and Methods: 90 patients which was diagnosed as cerebral palsy, treated and followed up in Pediatric Neurology Department of Mustafa Kemal University, were included to this study. The history was taken, and a physical examination was performed to determine the etiology of the disease and type of SP. All of the patients were underwent a detailed ophthalmological examination including visual acuity, refractive error, amblyopia, strabismus, nystagmus and fundus examination. Results: Totally 90 patients, 51 male and 39 female, were included to the study. When the etiologic factors were evaluated, the asphyxia was seen in 33.3% of the patients. The most common type of cerebral palsy was spastic quadriplegia at the rate of 43.3%. Eye problems were detected in 60% of our cases. Of this, 54.4% were refractive errors, 35.6% were strabismus, and 22.2% were optic nerve pathologies. Amblyopia was found in 11.1% of cases. Although strabismus is more common in spastic diplegia type of cerebral palsy, there was no statistically significant difference Conclusions: In conclusion, eye problems are common in children with cerebral palsy. Therefore, we recommend routine eye examination in these patients due to be beneficial in reducing the detection and communication difficulties

Maternal mortality cases from pulmonary embolism: A nation-wide study in Turkey

The aim of the study was to evaluate the maternal mortality cases attributed to pulmonary embolism (PE). PE constituted 7.58% of maternal deaths in 2013. Risk factors for PE were present in 15 (88.2%) of the women. Five women (29.4%) were overweight, and 5 (29.4%) were obese. Four women (23.5%) had cardiac diseases. PE occurred in the postpartum period after caesarean delivery in 9 (52.9%) patients. Eleven (64.7%) of the maternal deaths were recognised as preventable. More deaths attributed to PE occurred in the postpartum period (n = 11) than the antepartum period (n = 5). One other maternal mortality case was after therapeutic abortion. Caesarean section, obesity and cardiac diseases were important risk factors. It can be suggested that monitoring all risk factors and timely recognition of related symptoms and signs with initiation of appropriate management have paramount importance for reducing maternal mortality rate related to pulmonary embolism. Increasing awareness of healthcare professionals as well as the public, and continuously reviewing the cases are also important tools for achieving this goal

Background/Aims: Lipodystrophy is a rare metabolic disorder characterized by a near-total or partial lack of subcutaneous adipose tissue and is associated with insulin resistance. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) imaging to explore the fat content of the liver in patients with lipodystrophy and to determine the relationship between liver fat accumulation and clinical presentations of lipodystrophy.
