Das Internet als Basis für die Produktinformation im Bauwesen

Die Gesamtheit der Produktinformationen im Bauwesen stellt sich als sehr inkonsistente und redundante Informationsmenge dar. Die Hersteller stehen vor der Aufgabe, diese Produktinformationen nicht nur in der üblichen Katalogform sondern auch in neuen Medien wie CD-ROM und WWW zu publizieren. Einmal betriebener Erfassungsaufwand muß sich dabei durch eine einfache Mehrfachverwendung der Daten rentieren. Wegen seiner technologischen Eigenschaften eignet sich das WWW sehr gut als primäre Quelle für Produktinformationen. Vor allem wegen der möglichen Aktualität sollte es Grundlage für Publikationen in den anderen Medien sein. Mit verhältnismäßig geringem Aufwand lassen sich die WWW-Präsentation von Produktdaten so strukturieren, daß eine automatisierte Erfassung und Verarbeitung dieser Daten vereinfacht wird. So kann die Datenkonsistenz von der visuellen Präsentation in herkömmlichen Katalogen bis zur automatisch erstellten Produktdatenbank durchgängig gesichert werden. Vor dem Hintergrund der von Schnittstellenproblemen, heterogener Softwarestruktur und unzureichender Ausnutzung der Möglichkeiten der Informatik gekennzeichneten Situation im Bauwesen wird in generalisierter Ansatz mittels SGML vorgestellt. Mit einem derartigen Datenangebot werden neue, verteilte und vernetzte Anwendungen auf Grundlage derselben Produktdaten ermöglicht

Conflicting Roles of CIOs and their Negative Effects on the Workplace of the Future

Demographic change is forcing companies to find new ways to attract skilled knowledge-workers to safeguard strong economic performance. In particular, in the case of younger generations, companies have the opportunity to increase their attractiveness apart from usual incentives like a high salary by addressing these generations’ altered expectations towards their professional life and their work-life balance. Recent studies show, however, that companies often struggle to implement the necessary information technology. Drawing on role theory and existing literature, we developed a role framework to identify intra-role conflicts perceived by the chief information officers and inter-role conflicts between the IT and other departments. Through qualitative interviews with representatives from five companies, we identify numerous role conflicts, particularly common in smaller companies and companies managed by their owners. New developments in event generator tuning techniques

Data analyses in hadron collider physics depend on background simulations performed by Monte Carlo (MC) event generators. However, calculational limitations and non-perturbative effects require approximate models with adjustable parameters. In fact, we need to simultaneously tune many phenomenological parameters in a high-dimensional parameter-space in order to make the MC generator predictions fit the data. It is desirable to achieve this goal without spending too much time or computing resources iterating parameter settings and comparing the same set of plots over and over again. We present extensions and improvements to the MC tuning system, Professor, which addresses the aforementioned problems by constructing a fast analytic model of a MC generator which can then be easily fitted to data. Using this procedure it is for the first time possible to get a robust estimate of the uncertainty of generator tunings. Furthermore, we can use these uncertainty estimates to study the effect of new (pseudo-) data on the quality of tunings and therefore decide if a measurement is worthwhile in the prospect of generator tuning. Door-to-Door Mobility Integrators as Keystone Organizations of Smart Ecosystems: Resources and Value Co-Creation – A Literature Review

Cities around the world face major mobility-related challenges, such as traffic congestion and air pollution. One primary cause of these challenges is the decision of citizens to use their private car instead of alternative mobility services such as public transport, car-sharing and bike-sharing. Technological progress offers new possibilities to address these challenges by making alternative mobility services easier and more convenient to use. This paper focuses on door-to-door (D2D) mobility integrators, which aim to offer citizens seamless D2D transport by packaging alternative mobility services. To better understand the practical barriers D2D mobility integrators face, this interdisciplinary literature review provides a holistic picture of their operand and operant resources, revealing significant gaps in our understanding of their capability to attract actors to their ecosystem and to manage value co-creation. Based on these gaps, we identify a potential avenue of future research
