Experimental studies of Strong Electroweak Symmetry Breaking in gauge boson scattering and three gauge boson production
If no light Higgs boson exist, the interaction among the gauge bosons becomes
strong at high energies (~1TeV). The effects of strong electroweak symmetry
breaking (SEWSB) could manifest themselves as anomalous couplings before they
give rise to new physical states, thus measurement of all couplings and their
possible deviation from Standard Model (SM) values could give valuable
information for understanding the true nature of symmetry breaking sector. Here
we present a detailed study of the measurement of quartic gauge couplings in
weak boson scattering processes and a possibility for same measurement in
triple weak boson production. Expected limits on the parameters alpha_4
alpha_5,alpha_6, alpha_7 and alpha_10 in electroweak chiral Lagrangian are

Flexible body dynamic stability for high performance aircraft
Dynamic equations which include the effects of unsteady aerodynamic forces and a flexible body structure were developed for a free flying high performance fighter aircraft. The linear and angular deformations are assumed to be small in the body reference frame, allowing the equations to be linearized in the deformation variables. Equations for total body dynamics and flexible body dynamics are formulated using the hybrid coordinate method and integrated in a state space format. A detailed finite element model of a generic high performance fighter aircraft is used to generate the mass and stiffness matrices. Unsteady aerodynamics are represented by a rational function approximation of the doublet lattice matrices. The equations simplify for the case of constant angular rate of the body reference frame, allowing the effect of roll rate to be studied by computing the eigenvalues of the system. It is found that the rigid body modes of the aircraft are greatly affected by introducing a constant roll rate, while the effect on the flexible modes is minimal for this configuration
Historical and Present Status of the Black-Footed Ferret
The black-footed ferret (Mustela nigripes) was once widely distributed in the Great Plains and intermountain valleys of North America, its range overlapping the combined ranges of several species of prairie dogs (Cynomys spp.). Most life history information has been obtained from studies of ferrets in southwestern South Dakota (1964-1974) and studies near Meeteetse, Wyoming (1981-present). The ferret\u27s nearly complete dependence on prairie dogs was documented in both study areas. The recent collapse of the Meeteetse population of ferrets due to an outbreak of canine distemper underscores the threat posed by this disease, but reductions of prairie dogs by man and other diseases are also potentially harmful. Eighteen animals are being held for captive breeding, no free-ranging ferrets have been located, and species recovery seems dependent on captive propagation and releases
Molecular Model of the Contractile Ring
We present a model for the actin contractile ring of adherent animal cells.
The model suggests that the actin concentration within the ring and
consequently the power that the ring exerts both increase during contraction.
We demonstrate the crucial role of actin polymerization and depolymerization
throughout cytokinesis, and the dominance of viscous dissipation in the
dynamics. The physical origin of two phases in cytokinesis dynamics ("biphasic
cytokinesis") follows from a limitation on the actin density. The model is
consistent with a wide range of measurements of the midzone of dividing animal

Air hydrodynamics of the ultrafast laser-triggered spark gap
We present space and time resolved measurements of the air hydrodynamics
induced by ultrafast laser pulse excitation of the air gap between two
electrodes at high potential difference. We explore both plasma-based and
plasma-free gap excitation. The former uses the plasma left in the wake of
femtosecond filamentation, while the latter exploits air heating by
multiple-pulse resonant excitation of quantum molecular wavepackets. We find
that the cumulative electrode-driven air density depression channel initiated
by the laser plays the dominant role in the gap evolution leading to breakdown
Observed crustal uplift near the Southern Patagonian Icefield constrains improved viscoelastic Earth model
Thirty‒one GPS geodetic measurements of crustal uplift in southernmost South America determined extraordinarily high trend rates (> 35 mm/yr) in the north‒central part of the Southern Patagonian Icefield. These trends have a coherent pattern, motivating a refined viscoelastic glacial isostatic adjustment model to explain the observations. Two end‒member models provide good fits: both require a lithospheric thickness of 36.5 ± 5.3 km. However, one end‒member has a mantle viscosity near η =1.6 ×1018 Pa s and an ice collapse rate from the Little Ice Age (LIA) maximum comparable to a lowest recent estimate of 1995–2012 ice loss at about −11 Gt/yr. In contrast, the other end‒member has much larger viscosity: η = 8.0 ×1018 Pa s, half the post–LIA collapse rate, and a steadily rising loss rate in the twentieth century after AD 1943, reaching −25.9 Gt/yr during 1995–2012.Fil: Lange, H.. Among the document\u27s recommendations are suggestions that the OLC provide an accurate and honest appraisal of applicable law, even if that advice will constrain the administration’s pursuit of desired policies; and publicly disclose its written legal opinions in a timely manner, absent strong reasons for delay or nondisclosure

Some remarks on the visible points of a lattice
We comment on the set of visible points of a lattice and its Fourier
transform, thus continuing and generalizing previous work by Schroeder and
Mosseri. A closed formula in terms of Dirichlet series is obtained for the
Bragg part of the Fourier transform. We compare this calculation with the
outcome of an optical Fourier transform of the visible points of the 2D square
