Parsimony-based genetic algorithm for haplotype resolution and block partitioning

    Get PDF
This dissertation proposes a new algorithm for performing simultaneous haplotype resolution and block partitioning. The algorithm is based on genetic algorithm approach and the parsimonious principle. The multiloculs LD measure (Normalized Entropy Difference) is used as a block identification criterion. The proposed algorithm incorporates missing data is a part of the model and allows blocks of arbitrary length. In addition, the algorithm provides scores for the block boundaries which represent measures of strength of the boundaries at specific positions. The performance of the proposed algorithm was validated by running it on several publicly available data sets including the HapMap data and comparing results to those of the existing state-of-the-art algorithms. The results show that the proposed genetic algorithm provides the accuracy of haplotype decomposition within the range of the same indicators shown by the other algorithms. The block structure output by our algorithm in general agrees with the block structure for the same data provided by the other algorithms. Thus, the proposed algorithm can be successfully used for block partitioning and haplotype phasing while providing some new valuable features like scores for block boundaries and fully incorporated treatment of missing data. In addition, the proposed algorithm for haplotyping and block partitioning is used in development of the new clustering algorithm for two-population mixed genotype samples. The proposed clustering algorithm extracts from the given genotype sample two clusters with substantially different block structures and finds haplotype resolution and block partitioning for each cluster

    A tunable carbon nanotube resonator

Nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) have recently been the subjectof much exciting research. They have been proposed for use in various applications such as mass and force detection, RF processing, and investigating quantum effects in the mechanical motion of resonators. Attempts to increase sensitivity for these applications has led to further and further miniaturization of the mechanical devices. When their size reaches the range of hundreds of nanometers, these devices have active masses in the hundreds of the femtograms and operational frequencies in the GHz. An ultimatelimit to this miniaturization is a mechanical resonator based on a single molecule. Such a resonator should not only be able to push the limits of the measurements sensitivities, but can also probe decrease of the quality factor values with size that has so far been attributed to the increase of the surface-to-volume ratios in these resonators. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), thin tubes of graphene, are light, stiff, strong, and electrically active, which makes them a perfect candidate for a such a NEMS structure. By employing a capacitive actuation and detection technique, we investigate the performance of a resonator based on a doubly-clamped, suspended CNT in a transistor geometry. We excite vibrations by applying an AC driving voltage to the gate electrode, and we detect them by measuring the current through the CNT device. Controlling the CNT's tension, by applying a downward DC force with a DC voltage on the gate electrodes, enables us to tune the resonant frequency, resulting in the first tunable and self-detecting carbon nanotube resonator. This setup also allows us to probe the loss mechanisms in these small structures. We systematically study correlation of the quality factor with each of the device characteristics, including electrical resistance, fabrication geometry, and resonant mode harmonic number. We also study dependence of the quality factor on the experimental knobs, such as pressure, temperature, DC gate voltage, and AC driving voltage. We find that the quality factors in CNTs continue the trend previously established by NEMS, and that several dissipation mechanisms must be responsible for losses in this system. We identify coupling to the environment, the thermoelastic effect, and surface-related losses as the three key mechanisms

The article presents the main results obtained from the use of Omnichannel marketing strategy and Beacon technologies in the field of European trade, determines by the difference between multichannel and omnichannel marketing strategies. For the development of the main directions of digital technologies in the field of marketing, proposed in the works of D.J. Peltier, it is necessary to update the components included in the structure of integrated marketing communications. The authors established that under the influence of modern digital marketing technologies, it is necessary to redefine the disparate points of contact with customers that affect the process of consumer engagement and profit generation due to the use of various Omnichannels. Developing practical aspects of the Omnichannel retail strategy put forward by Yu. Melantiu needs to take into account that at the intersection of effective Omnichannel marketing and strategic initiatives, marketers get the opportunity to attract new customers and increase the level of brand loyalty. The paper presents the structure of beacon technology, gives the results of its application in European trade. The study reveals that the emergence of Omnichannel marketing leads to the destruction of the structure fields in the already available points where brands and consumers come into contact. The purpose of the article is to assess the level of application of omnichannel marketing technologies and beacon technologies by European retailers in order to develop a recommendation base necessary for the further effective development of omnichannel marketing in European countries. The authors propose a scheme of interaction between beacon technologies and information technology integrators within the framework of the omnichannel marketing strategy. The study performs a comparative analysis of multichannel and omnichannel marketing strategies. The authors make conclusions related to the development of omnichannel marketing in European countries, as well as determine the possibility of integrating beacon technologies into the omnichannel marketing system

Development of adaptive mechanisms of budget planning in the field of marketing activities in a turbulent economic environment

The article is devoted to the development of complex adaptation mechanisms in the field of financial planning of the organisation of marketing activities in a turbulent economic model, in which large economic systems have a certain asymmetry of the relationship between the dynamics of the growth of the size of the economy and the transformation of degrees of freedom within the organisation of economic activity. The authors clarified the concept of “planning in marketing activities” in terms of issues related to its adaptation to changing environmental conditions, which made it possible to introduce a modern concept: “flexible digital marketing”. An extensive classification of changes in the field of marketing has been given depending on the level of scale of changes in marketing activity plans at different time stages of planning. The authors propose an updated approach to the organisation of marketing activity planning processes based on network modeling, which is presented as a complex set of knowledge on the transformation of developed strategies and plans of marketing activities to abrupt changes. A classification of network planning methods in the field of marketing activities has been compiled, taking into account hypothetical changes in objects within the framework of developed marketing strategies

Transforming adaptive management in knowledge-intensive enterprises

The article considers the aspects of transforming the adaptive management of knowledge-intensive enterprises under highly volatile institutional conditions in the current technological order. The initial scientific hypothesis was that the quality and efficiency of enterprises in the medium and long term is a consequence of management system transformation, as a result of using a wide range of digital technologies in the process of implementating preventive management measures aimed at maintaining a certain level of correspondence between the digital environment and the internal capacity of the management system. The structural aspects of the concept of adaptive transformation of the management system of knowledge-intensive enterprises in a highly variable digital environment have been analysed. An algorithm that represents a complete independent system has been proposed in which the order and levels of interconnection between individual subsystems and elements have been determined, with the adaptive transformation process itself as the central link, which is supported by a complex of different subsystems. A methodological approach for implementating a multicomponent process of adaptive management system development has been presented, detailing the various methodological recommendations and developments. The methodological techniques used for the indicative assessment of the level of efficiency of the management system of knowledge-intensive enterprises have been outlined. An independent and unified digital management environment for knowledge-intensive enterprises enables real-time analysis of business processes in order to make timely, high-quality and effective decisions in the following key areas: investment and financial activities; enterprise knowledge and personnel management; production and technical management; logistics, operations and disposal. The article offers methodological recommendations on the reengineering of business processes in knowledge-intensive enterprises in a new technological mode
