Today, the waste of electrical and electronic equipment has created a number of global problems, and their solution is as urgent as other environmental problems. The article explores the issues related to the potential danger of e-waste to human health. For this, the data from a number of international normative documents and authoritative journals is collected, systematized and classified. The feasibility of classifying the waste according to the criterion โ€œhazardous-safeโ€ is substantiated. The main goal of the study is to identify the cause-effect relationship between hazardous waste and their harm. The elements and connections of electronic waste, the harmful environment they create, the relationship of pathological conditions related to human health

THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYSTYRENE AGGREGATED GYPSUM BLOCKS Polystyrene aggregated gypsum blocks

Abstract Lightweight concrete is widely used in our day as a filling material for sandwich panels in the construction industry. On the other hand, the use of gypsum in this aspect is very limited. Block or panels as partition walls produced by foamed or porous gypsum has not been widely publicised. According to literature, similar types of gypsum panels are produced and used in Israel and the former East Germany. During our literature survey, using polystyrene beads as an aggregate for the production of the gypsum blocks or panels has not been discovered. In this study, we have observed the use and production gypsum composites, using polystyrene beads. Even though it is possible to mix polystyrene beads and gypsum without additives, better results are obtained by wetting the beads using a glue with a polymer base for binding as the mixture become more homogeneous. Production is planned for samples between 200kg/mยณ and 800kg/mยณ density, among those 500-600 kg/mยณ mixtures have been found to be the most economical ones and the cavities filled with gypsum up to the maximum extent. Even though the mechanical strength is not a critical issue for these samples, it is found to be sufficient, in addition good heat insulation and fire retardant properties has been observed. Due to the above mentioned properties, polystyrene aggregated gypsum can be used in precast or cast in situ panels as a filling material

Applicability of Blockchain Technology in Avionics Systems

Blockchain technology, within its fast widespread and superiority demonstrated by recent studies, can be also used as an informatic tool for solving various aviation problems. Aviation electronics (avionics) systems stand out as the application area of informatics methods in solving aviation problems or providing different capabilities to aircrafts. Avionics systems are electronic systems used in air and space vehicles for many purposes such as surveillance, navigation and communication. In this study, the applicability of blockchain technology as a new approach in the development of avionics systems is discussed, and in this regard, a method inspired by the previously implemented applications in electronic flight systems is proposed to help evaluate the applicability of this technology in new avionics system designs. The potential of blockchain for solving the problems especially in basic services, communication, navigation and flight management systems; the problem structures for which application of this technology would be a reliable solution; and the superiority and inferiority of its use in avionic systems are explained. A guiding paper is proposed for aviation engineers/experts to make a decision on applying blockchain into avionics systems.Comment: in Turkish languag

The Reactions of Some Alkyl(thio)-Substituted 2-Nitrodienes with Piperazines and a Structural Study

Get PDF
Thiosubstituted nitrodiene compound 1a was obtained from 2-nitropentachlorobutadiene and dodecanethiol. Compound 1b was prepared from 2-nitropentachlorobutadiene and hexadecanethiol. Monosubstituted diene compounds 1a and 1b reacted with piperazines such as derivatives of 2 and 4 in CH 2 Cl 2 and gave the novel compounds. 2-Nitro-3,4,4-trichloro-1-dodecylthio-1-(2-fluorophenylpiperazinyl]-1,3-butadiene (3d) was synthesized and its crystal structure was determined

Shallow geophysical techniques to investigate the groundwater table at the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

The near-surface groundwater aquifer that threatened the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt, was investigated using integrated geophysical surveys. A total of 10 electrical resistivity imaging, 26ย shallow seismic refraction, and 19ย ground-penetrating radar surveys were conducted in the Giza Plateau. Collected data for each method were evaluated by state-of-the art processing and modeling techniques. A three-layer model depicts the subsurface layers and better delineates the groundwater aquifer and water table elevation. The resistivity of the aquifer layer and seismic velocity vary between 40 and 80 ฮฉm and between 1500 and 2500 m sโˆ’1, respectively. The average water table elevation is about +15 m, which is safe for the Great Sphinx, but it is still subjected to potential hazards from the Nazlet El-Samman suburb where the water table elevation reaches 17 m. A shallower water table at the Valley Temple and the tomb of Queen Khentkawes, with a low topographic relief, represents severe hazards. It can be concluded that a perched groundwater table is detected in the elevated topography to the west and southwest that might be due to runoff and capillary seepage.</p
