Enhancement of flexural strength on reinforced concrete beams strengthened with GFRP under cyclic loading.

    Get PDF
This paper presents experimental research on reinforced concrete beams with flexural strengthening by Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) under cyclic loading. A total of 54 beams were cast and externally bonded with different configurations and three beams were cast without Strengthening (control beam). Each beam was tested under reversed cyclic loading under a two-point loading system. The loads are applied as positive and negative loads. The test specimens were evaluated in terms of load-displacement and cracking patterns. The experimental results show that strengthened RC beam load carrying capacity is observed to be in the range of 0 % to 25% for forwarding loading (Positive load) and 23.33 % to 66.66% for reverse loading (Negative load). Deflection is increased in the range 5.34% to 98.96% for forward loading (Positive load) and 0 % to 123.56% for reverse loading (Negative load) as compared to the control beam.

    Legislature Library of Maharashtra State

The paper describes the Legislature library, one of the oldest, richest and largest libraries, managing wide ranges of information e.g. Acts & Bills, Proceedings, Gazettes, Rare books, LT papers, Old News Paper, Debates, Report etc. There is hardly any library other than Legislature library handling all kinds and variety of information resources. This makes the management and functioning of legislative library unique. The Legislature library has ‘Research and Reference’ services for members of assembly have gradually developed into what is now referred to as the library and Reference, Research, Documentation and Information service more familiar. The Legislature library is under the control of Government of Maharashtra. This easily offers information to the various users of different fields such as government officers, administrative staffs, MLAs, ex –MLAs etc.The optimum use of Legislature library is instrumental in making the members of assembly and overall function of the assembly very effective

Morphometry and length weight relationship of the Catfishes Arius caelatus (Valenciennes, 1840) and Arius thalassinus (Ruppell, 1837) off Mumbai, Veraval and Vishakhapatanam coasts

    Get PDF
The catfishes, Arius caelatus and Arius thalassinus have been compared morphometrically for seven characters with reference to fork length from Mumbai, Veraval, Vishakhapatnam and Veraval coasts respectively. For Arius caelatus, significant differences were found between the sexes at the same locality, within the same sexes at different localities and between both sexes combined from Mumbai and Veraval four out of seven characters were investigated. Similarly, for Arius thalassinus, significant differences were noticed between and within the sexes at the same locality and when the sexes were combined, almost all the characters showed highly significant differences between the Veraval and Vishakhapatnam populations, which have been attributed to separation of stocks. The sex specific length weight relationships between the sexes as well as locations were not significant for A. caelatus, hence a relation common to both sexes and regions was established. But A. thalassinus showed highly significant differences, in respect of sexes as well as locations. Therefore, separate relationships were obtained for sexes and locations for the latter

Density, viscosity, DFT and FTIR study of tertiary butyl alcohol and ethanol with DMSO and DMF at room temperature

    Get PDF
In this work, we report a combined experimental density, viscosity, FTIR and theoretical density functional theory (DFT) method of tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA)+dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), ethanol (ET)+DMSO, TBA+(dimethyl formamide) DMF, ET+DMF mixtures at room temperature. Density and viscosity data over the entire composition range have been used to compute excess molar volumes and deviation in viscosity, respectively. The excess molar volume (VE) is negative for whole composition range for both systems, DMF+ET, DMF+TBA. The negative values of VE indicate of the important interaction between unlike molecules. The deviation in viscosity (∆η) is positive over whole composition range for DMF+ET and negative for the DMSO+ET, DMSO+TBA and DMF+TBA. The negative ∆η suggests the forces between pairs of unlike molecules are less than the forces between like molecules. The molecular geometry, harmonic vibrational frequencies, Mulliken atomic charges have been calculated by using DFT theory/B3LYP method with 6-31G(d) basis set. Energies of HOMO-LUMO predict the strength and stability of complexes

Biochemical changes in banana fruits due to postharvest fungal pathogens

    Get PDF
The nutritional value of fruits chiefly depends on the quality and quantity of nutritive substances. In the present investigation, four fungi were studied from banana fruits which cause considerable biochemical changes to alter the quality of banana fruit. The infected bananas showed a decrease in the quantity of total soluble sugar, protein, ash, ascorbic acid and mineral elements when compared with the control of fruit. B.theobromae, R.oryzae, G.musarum, A.niger, A.flavus and F.roseum were found to be associated with the ripening of bananas and also causes rot during storage

Effect of fungal infections on nutritional value of papaya fruits

    Get PDF
The nutritional value of fruits chiefly depends on the quality & quantity of nutritive substances. Various fungi causes rots in fruits of papaya. The fungi are very selective in their nutritional requirements. They influence the stored substances by observing them or by converting some of the complex forms into simple ones. In the present investigation total five fungi were isolated from papaya fruits. The effect of these fungi on considerable losses in proteins, ash and nitrogen content were observed in the papaya fruits. In general the amount of the amino acids in free as well as bound forms increased in infected fruits. Considerable decrease in total sugar and increase in reducing sugar was observed in most of the fungi

Information Technology Act 2000 in India - Authentication of E-Documents

    Get PDF
The Information Technology Act 2000 has enacted in India on 9th June 2000. This Act has mentioned provision of authentication of electronic document. It is the need of hour at that time that such provision is needed in the Indian Law system, especially for electronic commerce and electronic governance. Electronic commerce”, which involve the use of alternatives to paper based methods of communication and storage information. To do electronic commerce there should be authentication of particular document. The working of internet is the documents are traveling in terms of bits from one destination to other destination, through various media like – Co-axial cable, fiber optic, satellite etc. While traveling this document there is probability of making changes in that document by any third party is high or some document may get changed due to noise/disturbance in communication media. This Act required to provide legal recognition carried out by means of electronic data interchange and other means of electronic communication

Bio-Efficacy of Aureofungin-sol in Control of Downy and Powdery Mildews in Grape

    Get PDF
Bio-efficacy of Aureofungin-sol, an antifungal antibiotic, for control of downy mildew and powdery mildew of grape was evaluated during October 2008 - April 2009 fruiting season in vineyards at three locations in Maharashtra. Four to nine sprays of Aureofungin-sol, @ 0.108, 0.163 and 0.217 g/l, starting from 12-16 days to 46-75 days after fruit pruning gave good control of downy mildew on leaves and bunches, and increased harvestable yield over the Control. Similarly, four sprays of Aureofungin-sol @ 0.108 g/l at 11 to 20 days' interval at 65 days after pruning provided complete control of powdery mildew on leaves and bunches. No residue of Aureofungin-sol was found in harvest samples above the limit of detection (0.1 mg/kg)
