    Get PDF
Purpose. This research is focused on identification of illegal dumps in the territory of Dubna, their geometrical sizes, composition, sources of education; assessment of ecological danger of dumps and analysis of dynamics of a situation over the last ten years: 2004-2014.Design/methodology/approach. Researches were carried out by means of field, calculation, statistical and cartographical methods. Findings. Hundred illegal dumps are founded in the territory of Dubna in 2014, over the last 10 years the amount of dumps has reduced much in a residential zone of Dubna, the situation has improved not so significant in recreational zones. Eighty percent of dumps are characterized as dangerous since they are located in relief depressions, in residential and “green” zones of the city, near reservoirs; they contain dangerous components in their own composition. Plastic, glass and wood waste have the greatest volumes in damps. Vacationers in “green” zones of the city and inhabitants of the private sectors are the main pollutants. The lack of containers for collecting waste in places of a recreation and around some garden associations is revealed. All obtained data are presented in the complex GIS-project that gives ample opportunities of processing and the analysis of data.Practical implications. All obtained and processed data are communicated to the company responsible for the waste management in the city of Dubna (JSC “RFK Ekosistem”), the part of dumps is liquidated, container network and routes of export of waste are perfected

On Pragmatics of Circumstantial Clauses in Egyptian Proverbs

    Get PDF
This article concerns a problem of syntax and pragmatics of circumstantial clauses (jumal ḥāliyya) in Egyptian Arabic, and particularly, in Egyptian proverbs. According to the most common definition, a circumstantial clause characterizes a state or condition (ḥāl – lit. “state, condition”) of a main clause subject or object at the moment described in the main clause. In Arabic, it is used “to express an action or event which took place simultaneously with the situation or event expressed in the main clause” (modal and temporal circumstantial clauses) [Woidich 2004: 191]. Firstly, we claim that ḥāl is not a clause, it is a syntactic position that could be represented by a single word (a participle) or a clause. In traditional Arabic grammar ḥāl is described as a “second predicate” (ḫabar), or comment, that forms the semantic and pragmatic focus of the sentence [Pak & Soukhareva 2008: 255]. So, when it occurs in Egyptian paremia, ḥāl represents the essence of a proverb. Secondly, the structure of a proverb which contains a circumstantial clause is one of three types: a circumstantial clause may accede a noun, a genitive construction or a clause; the conjunction w(i)- (waw al-ḥāl) is optional. The fact that a circumstantial clause may equally supplement a noun or a clause in the sentence demonstrates that pragmatically this noun is an equivalent of a whole clause. The question arises about the syntactic position that this single noun would have in a sentence

Effect of vacuum desalination on heat exchange parameters

    Get PDF
On the example of a thermal scheme of a waste-distillation vacuum desalination plant, it is considered how the heat exchange parameters change depending on the time of year and the region of navigation of the vessel or the location of the plant. The performance of the desalination plant depends on the performance of the engine and the temperature of the sea water, since the main engine is cooled by sea water, which in turn is used to heat the heating battery in the desalination plant. In this thermal scheme, water is heated in a heat exchanger, the characteristics of which can be selected the same as those of the main engine of the vessel

The article presents aspects the systemic view to the continuous environmental education concept. The environmental education system of the local level with analysis of all necessary features is considered in more details. It is shown that integrated environmental education can be the basis for overcoming of the most difficulties that arise in the implementation of the sustainable development concept.

Pharmacoeconomics of Cyclamen europaeum in the management of Acute Rhinosinusitis

Objective. To carry out a pharmacoeconomic analysis of Cyclamen europaeum (CE) in the management of acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) in Spain using data from the PROSINUS study. Study Design. This was a prospective observational study to compare the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness between therapies including CE vs. other therapies in the management of ARS. Methods. The study was carried out as a secondary analysis of the PROSINUS, combining healthcare resource use, productivity loses, and health outcomes from the observational study with costs representative of the Spanish Health System. Results. CE given as monotherapy appears to be more effective (cure rate) than other monotherapies (15.3% higher, p<0.05) and combination (10.3% higher, p<0.05) therapies. The addition of CE to other single-drug or combination therapies showed a statistically significant improvement in terms of cure rates when adding CE to 2-drug combinations (93.9% vs. 76.5%; p<0.05), and no significant effect when added to combinations of three or more drugs (81.1% vs. 79.8; NS). CE based therapies generally showed lower indirect costs, although only the comparison of CE alone vs. other monotherapies, with a net cost savings of 101 per patient, reached statistical significance (331 vs. 432 , p<0.05). In addition, CE-based therapies show lower cost per cured patient in all comparisons except when CE was used in combination with three or more other drugs. Conclusions. The use of Cyclamen europaeum may be associated to better clinical outcomes at no additional cost for the healthcare system, respect to treatments commonly used for ARS in clinical practice

Phytotherapy of acute and chronic rhinosinusitis from the position of evidence-based medicine

The article highlights the problem of using phytotherapy in the treatment of the most topical inflammatory diseases of the ENT organs, namely acute and chronic rhinosinusitis. Phytotherapy of ENT diseases has always attracted both doctors and patients. However, from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine there were a lot of questions about most herbal remedies due to the small number of reliable, well-controlled studies. This article presents the data of evidence-based studies on phytotherapy of acute and chronic rhinosinusitis. They allow us to speak about secretolytic, secretomotor, anti-inflammatory, anti-edema, moderate antibacterial and antiviral effects of phytopreparations. A common pharmacological property of plants included in phytopreparations is the ability to block the phase of exudation and reduce the permeability of the vascular wall. Phytotherapy is a good alternative method of treatment of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Data on the complex therapy of rhinosinusitis are given. Nevertheless, the safety and efficacy of phytotherapy for the treatment of patients with CRS are currently uncertain. The clinical guidelines of the Russian Ministry of Health 2021 on the treatment of acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) note the following: any patient with ARS can be prescribed herbal remedies with proven anti-inflammatory and mucolytic effects in the absence of contraindications to accelerate resolution of the disease symptoms. The results of works devoted to the use of preparations of plant origin for the treatment of patients with acute and chronic sinusitis allow to estimate them as rather effective in the complex treatment of this group of patients. However, further controlled studies are required to obtain additional data on the effectiveness of phytotherapy

Follow-up observation of 44 patients who had cytomegalovirus infection (CMV) in the first months of life with the assessment of the health status of these children in terms was conducted during more than 7 years (control group consisted of healthy children). The study of course and outcomes of CMV infection of the first months of life showed that up to school period 43 % of patients had formed chronic pathology and 14,2 % of children at early age formed group of "children with disability". The structure formed chronic pathology up to school period in almost all parameters values. In main group central nervous system pathology occurred 4 times more often (р < 0,001), allergy - 3 times more often (p = 0,05), the pathology of the cardiovascular system - 3 times more often, endocrine pathology - 3 times more often, pathology of gastrointestinal tract and hepatobiliary system - 5 times more often
