Qualitative and quantitative analysis of mixtures of compounds containing both hydrogen and deuterium
Method allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of mixtures of partially deuterated compounds. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy determines location and amount of deuterium in organic compounds but not fully deuterated compounds. Mass spectroscopy can detect fully deuterated species but not the location
Detectability of Local Water Reservoirs in Europa's Surface Layer under Consideration of Coupled Induction
The icy moon Europa is a primary target for the study of ocean worlds. Its
subsurface ocean is expected to be subject to asymmetries on global scales
(tidal deformation) and local scales (chaos regions, fractures). Here, we
investigate the possibility to magnetic sound local asymmetries by calculating
the induced magnetic fields generated by a radially symmetric ocean and a
small, spherical water reservoir between the ocean and Europa's surface. The
consideration of two conductive bodies introduces non-linear magnetic field
coupling between them. We construct an analytical model to describe the
coupling between two conductive bodies and calculate the induced fields within
the parameter space of possible conductivity values and icy crust thicknesses.
Given the plasma magnetic field perturbations, we find that a reservoir cannot
be detected during a flyby at 25 km altitude using electromagnetic induction.
Potential detection of liquid water reservoirs can be achieved by deploying
magnetometers on Europa's surface, where one magnetometer is placed directly on
the target region of interest and a second one in the nearby vicinity as
reference to distinguish from global asymmetries. With this method, the
smallest reservoir that can be detected has a radius of 8 km and a conductivity
of 30 S/m. Larger reservoirs are resolvable at lower conductivities, with a 20
km reservoir requiring a conductivity of approximately 5 S/m

Innovation cooperation networks: case of a multisectoral and interdisciplinary partnership
Network cooperation processes gained special interest in the new knowledge economy as
they provide better conditions to innovation and knowledge creation and diffusion.
Although the importance of this strategic tool has been increasingly recognized,
individualistic behaviour tends to prevail within small and medium-sized firms and many of
them continue to exhibit an attitude of resistance when dealing with collaborative
experiences.
This paper has two main goals. First, it explores how networks can promote innovation
and help overcome the difficulties inherent in cooperation processes. Second, it illustrates
an innovative approach to network cooperation in a multisectoral and inter-disciplinary
environment, presenting the experience of the āHouse of the Futureā network in Aveiro,

How to promote interdisciplinary R&D in the academia: the case of the āHouse of the Futureā
While empirical research does indeed suggest that collaborative R&D has many desirable outcomes,
it is also clear that collaborative work is difficult and expensive. The challenge becomes increasingly
sharp as complex and expensive research questions require a large pool of resources and a
combination of specialized disciplines. As a result, different organizations get involved in
interdisciplinary projects to expand the frontiers of knowledge. This paper analyzes the strategy
and methodological approaches used to mobilize interdisciplinary R&D within a universityindustry
network named āHouse of the Futureā. We discuss the implications of our research for
R&D networks design
Magnetism in the Brown Dwarf Regime
A suite of discoveries in the last two decades demonstrate that we are now at
a point where incorporating magnetic behavior is key for advancing our ability
to characterize substellar and planetary systems. The next decade heralds the
exciting maturation of the now-burgeoning field of brown dwarf magnetism, and
investing now in brown dwarf magnetism will provide a key platform for
exploring exoplanetary magnetism and habitability beyond the solar system. We
anticipate significant discoveries including: the nature of substellar and
planetary magnetic dynamos, the characterization of exo-aurora physics and
brown dwarf magnetospheric environments, and the role of satellites in
manifestations of substellar magnetic activity. These efforts will require
significant new observational capabilities at radio and near infrared
wavelengths, dedicated long-term monitoring programs, and committed support for
the theoretical modeling efforts underpinning the physical processes of the
magnetic phenomenaComment: Decadal 2020 science white pape
Peramalan Pasang Surut Di Perairan Ujungnegoro Kabupaten Batang Jawa Tengah
Supporting the learning of deaf students in higher education: a case study at Sheffield Hallam University
This article is an examination of the issues surrounding support for the learning of deaf students in higher education (HE). There are an increasing number of deaf students attending HE institutes, and as such provision of support mechanisms for these students is not only necessary but essential. Deaf students are similar to their hearing peers, in that they will approach their learning and require differing levels of support dependant upon the individual. They will, however, require a different kind of support, which can be technical or human resource based. This article examines the issues that surround supporting deaf students in HE with use of a case study of provision at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), during the academic year 1994-95. It is evident that by considering the needs of deaf students and making changes to our teaching practices that all students can benefit
