In this paper, an alternative method for the assessment of multi-vitiate control loop performance with consider twocircumstances. First, known time delays between each pair of inputs and outputs, and second, without relying on any a priori knowledge about the process model or timedelays. The performance of the control loop is calculated from data driven autoregressive moving average (ARMA) and prediction error model. It is clear that the limited data in scalar measure used for performance assessment results tends to steady-state as time tends to infinity, but large number of samples gives risen in scalar measures and tends to infinity as time samples tends to infinity and therefore it becomes difficult to calculate the performance index. In this paper, the later problem is solved by considering initial part of scalar measures with steady value for next-to-next time samples to calculate the control-loop performance index which would be utilized to decide healthy working of the control loop. Simulation example is included to show the performance index of multi-variate control loop

OBJECTIVE: Cognitive measures are an important primary outcome of pediatric, adolescents, and childhood epilepsy surgery. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess whether there are long-term alterations (β‰₯ 5 years) in the Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) of pediatric patients undergoing epilepsy surgery. METHODS: Electronic databases (EMBASE, MEDLINE, and Scopus) were searched for English articles from inception to October 2022 that examined intelligence outcomes in pediatric epilepsy surgery patients. Inclusion criteria were defined as the patient sample size of β‰₯ 5, average follow- up of β‰₯5 years, and surgeries performed on individuals ≀ 18 years old at the time of surgery. Exclusion criteria consisted of palliative surgery, animal studies, and studies not reporting surgical or FSIQ outcomes. Publication bias was assessed using a funnel plot and the Quality in Prognosis Studies (QUIPS) toolset was used for quality appraisal of the selected articles. A random-effects network meta-analysis was performed to compare FSIQ between surgical patients at baseline and follow-up and Mean Difference (MD) was used to calculate the effect size of each study. Point estimates for effects and 95% confidence intervals for moderation analysis were performed on variables putatively associated with the effect size. RESULTS: 21,408 studies were screened for abstract and title. Of these, 797 fit our inclusion and exclusion criteria and proceeded to full-text screening. Overall, seven studies met our requirements and were selected. Quantitative analysis was performed on these studies (N = 330). The mean long-term difference between pre- and post- operative FSIQ scores across all studies was noted at 3.36 [95% CI: (0.14, 6.57), p = 0.04, I2Β =Β 0%] and heterogeneity was low. CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the first meta-analysis to measure the long-term impacts of FSIQ in pediatric and adolescent epilepsy patients. Our overall results in this meta-analysis indicate that while most studies do not show long-term FSIQ deterioration in pediatric patients who underwent epilepsy surgery, there was an increase of 3.36 FSIQ points, however, the observed changes were not clinically significant. Moreover, at the individual patient level analysis, while most children did not show long-term FSIQ deterioration, few had significant decline. These findings indicate the importance of surgery as a viable option for pediatric patients with medically refractory epilepsy

Optimality conditions in convex multiobjective SIP

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to characterize the weak efficient solutions, the efficient solutions, and the isolated efficient solutions of a given vector optimization problem with finitely many convex objective functions and infinitely many convex constraints. To do this, we introduce new and already known data qualifications (conditions involving the constraints and/or the objectives) in order to get optimality conditions which are expressed in terms of either Karusk–Kuhn–Tucker multipliers or a new gap function associated with the given problem. This research was partially cosponsored by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) of Spain, and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Commission, Project MTM2014-59179-C2-1-P

Observational and Theoretical Studies of 27 Ξ΄ Scuti Stars with Investigation of the Period–luminosity Relation

The multi-color CCD photometric study of 27 Ξ΄ Scuti stars is presented. By using approximately three years of photometric observations, we obtained the times of maxima and magnitude changes during the observation time interval for each star. The ephemerides of our Ξ΄ Scuti stars were calculated based on the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method using the observed times of maxima and the period of the stars’ oscillations. We used the Gaia EDR3 parallaxes to calculate the luminosities and also the absolute magnitudes of these Ξ΄ Scuti stars. The fundamental physical parameters of all the stars in our sample such as masses and radii were estimated. We determined the pulsation modes of the stars based on the pulsation constants. Moreover, the period–luminosity (P–L) relation of Ξ΄ Scuti stars was investigated and discussed. Then, by using a machine learning classification, new P–L relations for fundamental and overtone modes are presented. Β© 2021. The Astronomical Society of the Pacific. Microparticles from apoptotic platelets promote resident macrophage differentiation

Platelets shed microparticles not only upon activation, but also upon ageing by an apoptosis-like process (apoptosis-induced platelet microparticles, PMap). While the activation-induced microparticles have widely been studied, not much is known about the (patho)physiological consequences of PMap formation. Flow cytometry and scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that PMap display activated integrins and interact to form microparticle aggregates. PMap were chemotactic for monocytic cells, bound to these cells, an furthermore stimulated cell adhesion and spreading on a fibronectin surface. After prolonged incubation, PMap promoted cell differentiation, but inhibited proliferation. Monocyte membrane receptor analysis revealed increased expression levels of CD11b (integrin Ξ±MΞ²2), CD14 and CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1), and the chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4, but not of CCR2. This indicated that PMap polarized the cells into resident M2 monocytes. Cells treated with PMap actively consumed oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL), and released matrix metalloproteinases and hydrogen peroxide. Further confirmation for the differentiation towards resident professional phagocytes came from the finding that PMap stimulated the expression of the (ox)LDL receptors, CD36 and CD68, and the production of proinflammatory and immunomodulating cytokines by monocytes. In conclusion, interaction of PMap with monocytic cells has an immunomodulating potential. The apoptotic microparticles polarize the cells into a resident M2 subset, and induce differentiation to resident professional phagocytes

Differences in Muscle Protein Synthesis and Anabolic Signaling in the Postabsorptive State and in Response to Food in 65–80 Year Old Men and Women

Women have less muscle than men but lose it more slowly during aging. To discover potential underlying mechanism(s) for this we evaluated the muscle protein synthesis process in postabsorptive conditions and during feeding in twenty-nine 65–80 year old men (nβ€Š=β€Š13) and women (nβ€Š=β€Š16). We discovered that the basal concentration of phosphorylated eEF2Thr56 was ∼40% less (P<0.05) and the basal rate of MPS was ∼30% greater (Pβ€Š=β€Š0.02) in women than in men; the basal concentrations of muscle phosphorylated AktThr308, p70s6kThr389, eIF4ESer209, and eIF4E-BP1Thr37/46 were not different between the sexes. Feeding increased (P<0.05) AktThr308 and p70s6kThr389 phosphorylation to the same extent in men and women but increased (P<0.05) the phosphorylation of eIF4ESer209 and eIF4E-BP1Thr37/46 in men only. Accordingly, feeding increased MPS in men (P<0.01) but not in women. The postabsorptive muscle mRNA concentrations for myoD and myostatin were not different between sexes; feeding doubled myoD mRNA (P<0.05) and halved that of myostatin (P<0.05) in both sexes. Thus, there is sexual dimorphism in MPS and its control in older adults; a greater basal rate of MPS, operating over most of the day may partially explain the slower loss of muscle in older women
