Insuficiencia cardíaca diastólica: valoración y ejercicio físico

    Get PDF

The aim of this work was to quantify the protein, starch and total sugars levels during histodifferentiation and development of somatic embryos of Acca sellowiana Berg. For histological observations, the samples were dehydrated in a battery of ethanol, embedded in historesin and stained with toluidine blue (morphology), coomassie blue (protein bodies) and periodic acid-Schiff (starch). Proteins were extracted using a buffer solution, precipitated using ethanol and quantified using the Bradford reagent. Total sugars were extracted using a methanol-chloroform-water (12:5:3) solution and quantified by a reaction with anthrone at 0.2%. Starch was extracted using a 30% perchloric acid solution and quantified by a reaction with anthrone at 0.2%. During the somatic embryogenesis' in vitro morphogenesis and differentiation processes, the total protein levels decreased and the soluble sugars levels increased during the first 30 days in culture and remained stable until the 120th day. On the other hand, total protein levels increased according to the progression in the developmental stages of the somatic embryos. The levels of total sugars and starch increased in the heart and cotyledonary stages, and decreased in the torpedo and pre-cotyledonary stages. These compounds play a central role in the development of somatic embryos of Acca sellowiana. Fil: Cangahuala-Inocente, Gabriela Claudia. Tobacco plants were transformed with the open reading frame 3 gene from Potato virus X (PVX) coding for the p12 protein. Although the transgenic plants exhibited a normal morphological aspect, microscopic examination revealed extensive alterations in leaf tissue structure. After being challenged with PVX, the transgenic plants showed resistance to PVX infection and formation of specific leaf symptoms consisting of concentric rings encircled by necrotic borders. These novel symptoms were accompanied by biochemical changes normally associated with the hypersensitive response (HR) and were absent in noninfected transgenic plants or in PVX-infected nontransgenic plants. No equivalent virus resistance was observed after inoculation with Tobacco mosaic virus or Potato virus Y, suggesting the presence of a specific resistance mechanism. Despite development of HR-like symptoms, systemic acquired resistance was not induced in PVX-infected p12 transgenic plants. No evidence of an RNA-mediated resistance mechanism was found.Fil: Kobayashi, Ken. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Storage lipids and proteins of Euterpe edulis seeds

    Get PDF
Comparative studies on fatty acid and protein composition of the endosperm and embryo of palmito (Euterpe edulis Martius) were conducted using gas-liquid chromatography and sodium dodecyl sulfate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. On a dry weight basis, the embryo contained extremely lower amounts of lipids and proteins than did the endosperm, which was associated with the scarce lipid and protein bodies previously reported in axis and cotyledon. The fatty acid composition also exhibited differences between both tissues: (I) the fatty acid diversity was greater in embryo than in endosperm; (II) embryo and endosperm contained predominantly linoleic, palmitic, oleic and stearic acids even though the relative values were different for each tissue. As compared to other palm species, the higher fatty acid unsaturation in Euterpe edulis seed could be involved in the previously reported short longevity and recalcitrant behavior during storage. Proteins of both tissues were heterogeneous in molecular mass. Some proteins were tissue-specific, but other were common, among them a highly glycosylated protein which migrated at about 55 kDa. We hypothesize that the latter, also reported in all previously studied palm species, is one of the proteins characterizing the Arecaceae family.

    Get PDF
Abstract The aim of this Project is the acoustic and electroacoustic design of the projection rooms 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st of the theater kinépolis, which is located at “Ciudad de la imagen”. These rooms are equal so with the studing and analazing of one of them , the results can be extrapolted from this one to the others, therefore as from now the and electroacoustic design will focus on the 18th room. As result the room will be certified that it comply with the standard THX. The starting point of the room will be analized such on-spot acoustical measures as the reverberation time and the noise level, in the same way the spatial measurements will be make with a precise laser meter, in order to perform simulations with the data obtained with the EASE 4.01 program. These mesurements should be made in accordance with the standard UNE-EN ISO 3382. Once the acoustical behavior of the simulated room became the same as the real room (the same reverberation times), through the configuration of the suitable materials and the background noise, previously measured, the electroacoustic design of the equipment necessary to develop the multichannel sound system Dolby (R) will be completed. In the electroacoustic design the sound power level and the dealys of the speakers and its amplifiers will be configurated till amplifiers provide an uniform coverage over the entire room in compliance with the Dolby (R) standard. Finally, once an electroacoustic system will be proposed and checked it works correctly in compliance with the THX standard, posible improvements will be identified. Abstract. Acoustic and electroacoustic study of the 18th room of the movie theater Kinépolis (Madrid) It must however be pointed out that although the THX standard is known as a standard it is actually a set of recommended practices made by Lucasfilm Ltd, anyway, from now on we will call it THX standard

Physical activity on cardiorespiratory fitness and cardiovascular risk in premenopausal and postmenopausal women: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials

Importance: The apparent cardioprotective effects of endogenous estrogens to prevent cardiovascular disease in premenopausal women are reduced with the loss of estrogen post-menopause. Cardiorespiratory fitness and cardiovascular risk factors are closely related to physical activity levels. Objective: This study conducted a critical assessment of studies for health prevention that analyze the effects of physical activity programs on cardiorespiratory fitness and cardiovascular risk factors in women, comparing premenopausal and postmenopausal states, through a systematic review of randomized controlled trials. Evidence review: A computerized literature search was performed to include articles up until December 2021 in the following online databases: PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, SportDiscus, and Web of Science. Regarding physical activity intervention, women of all ages were engaged. The PEDro scale and Oxford's evidence levels were used for the assessment of the risk of bias in the included articles. Findings: Fourteen scientific articles met the inclusion criteria. Great variability was found in physical activity variables. All the studies found an improvement in at least one variable. The risk of bias was high, with all the articles obtaining a low methodological quality, except two with high methodological quality. Only one article considered the differences in the menopausal state observing the effects of physical activity intervention and highlighting the importance of physical activity in both states. Conclusions and relevance: To strengthen the evidence for the benefits of physical activity programs in women and to observe the effects depending on their menopausal state, there is an ongoing need for more rigorous randomized controlled trials of appropriate length and dose, with individualized exercise intensity

Influence of the Position on the Bicycle on the Frontal Area in Road Cyclists

    Get PDF
The aims of the present study were to determine whether the estimations of the frontal area of the combined cyclist-bicycle (APCB) obtained with the Heil’s non-logarithmic prediction equations (NPE) in the stem position (SP), brake hoods position (BHP) and drops position (DP) are comparable to the measured APCB with the computerized planimetry (CP) method, and to analyse with the CPmethod and the NPE the influence of the body position on the APCB. Nineteen participants competing in the Spanish Road Cycling First division took part in the study. The NPE overestimated the APCB in the BHP and in the DP compared with the measured APCB with the CP method (6.9% and 5.1%, respectively; p<0.05). Significant differences among the three positions were obtained with the CP method. The overestimation of the APCB with the NPE in the BHP and in the DP, and the less sensitivity of the NPE to show significant differences between the SP and DP suggest that the NPE are not appropriate to accurately predict the APCB
