    In this paper we describe a general framework based on constraint programming techniques to address the automatic layout definition problem for Web search result pages, considering heterogeneous result items types (e.g., web links, images, videos, maps, etc.). Starting from the entity type(s) specified in the search query and the result types deemed more relevant for the given entity type, we define an optimization problem and a set of constraints that grant the optimal positioning of results in the page, modeled as a grid with assigned weights depending on the visibility

    Rotavirus and the web: analysis of online conversations in Italy during 2020

    Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among children worldwide. In 2017, Italy included rotavirus vaccination in its National Immunization Program. The use of social media monitoring, an efficient tool to understand vaccine hesitancy, has increased in recent years; however, only a few examples of such monitoring are available for Italy. Present study analyzed content on online sources, including social media, to identify factors contributing to Italian parents' decisions to vaccinate or not their children against rotavirus. Blogmeter Suite was used to search and analyze conversations related to rotavirus in Italian on online sources during 2020. These data were compared with data from 2019. There were 2250 mentions of "rotavirus" recorded; 1080 were related to the rotavirus vaccine. Terms and hashtags used were similar in both years. Facebook was the main source of influence, Instagram dominated the engagement (the sum of interactions related to a post), and Google Trends showed a 5-year upward trend in searches for rotavirus vaccine. Of 1270 sentiment opinions, 60.7% were negative. More parents were familiar with the disease and the vaccine in 2020 compared with 2019. Pediatricians were the most influential healthcare professionals (59.2% of mentions), followed by vaccination staff (33.4%). The most relevant factors for vaccine hesitancy were fear of adverse events, concerns about the vaccination schedule, and COVID-19. Present study represents the first web listening analysis of online discussions about rotavirus. The results can be used to inform targeted communication to counteract misinformation and raise awareness about rotavirus vaccination among parents

    A rare case of enteric and systemic Yersinia enterocolitica infection in a chronic, not iron-overloaded dialysis patient

    We present herein a case of bacterial gastroenteritis due to Yersinia enterocolitica, occurred in a young woman undergoing haemodialysis with a previous history positive for prolonged (20 years) immunosuppressive therapy for glomerulonephritis before and for kidney transplant later. The patient's outcome was favourable after a third-generation cephalosporin treatment without complications. The possible pathophysiological association between patient clinical condition and Yersinia bacteraemia is discussed, along with the review of literature

    Fusarium solani infection after antimicrobial treatment of a severe bacterial peritonitis: a case report and review of the literature

    Fungal peritonitis is a rare but serious complication of peritoneal dialysis. This infection has been reported to be mostly caused by Candida species, and less frequently by a variety of other yeasts and moulds, such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, and  Fusarium spp. are commonly isolated from soil, plants and environmental surfaces, and rarely from non-immunosuppressed subjects. In this report, author describe a case of infection caused by Fusarium solani in a 59-year-old man undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. The fungus was recovered from cultures of peritoneal dialysate and the pathogen identification was carried out by mass spectrometry. The patient's outcome was favorable without complications after liposomal amphotericin B treatment along with peritoneal dialysis catheter removal

    Age-dependent changes of thinking about verbs

    We investigated the knowledge of emotional and motor verbs in children andadolescents from three age ranges (8\u201311, 12\u201315, 16\u201319 years). Participants estimatedthe verbs familiarity, age of acquisition, valence, arousal, imageability, and motor- andemotion-relatedness. Participants were familiar with theverbs in our dataset. The younger(8\u201311) attributed an emotional character to the verbs less frequently than the middle(12\u201315) and the older (16\u201319) groups. In the 8\u201311 group malesrated the verbs asemotion-related less frequently than females. Results indicate that processing verbalconcepts as emotion-related develops gradually, and after12\u201315 is rather stable. The ageof acquisition (AoA) develops late: the older (16\u201319) had a higher awareness in reportingthat they learnt the verbs earlier as compared to the estimations made by the younger(8\u201311 and 12\u201315). AoA positively correlated with attribution of emotion relatednessmeaning that emotion-related verbs were learned later. Arousal was comparable acrossages. Also it increased when attributing motor relatednessto verbs and decreasedwhen attributing emotion relatedness. Reporting the verbs\u2019 affective valence (happy vs.unhappy) changes with age: younger (8\u201311) judged the verbs generally more \u201chappy\u201dthan both the older groups. Instead the middle and the older group did not showdifferences. Happiness increased when processing the verbs as motor related anddecreased when processing the verbs as emotion related. Ageaffected imageability:the younger (8\u201311) considered the verbs easier to be imagined than the two oldergroups, suggesting that at this age vividness estimation isstill rough, while after 12\u201315 isstable as the 12\u201315 and 15\u201319 group did not differ. Imageability predicted arousal, AoA,emotion- and motor-relatedness indicating that this indexinfluences the way verbs areprocessed. Imageability was positively correlated to emotion relatedness, indicating thatsuch verbs were harder to be imagined, and negatively to motor relatedness. Imageablitypositively correlated with valence meaning that verbs receiving positive valence were alsothose that were hard to be imagined, and negatively correlated with arousal, meaning thatverbs that were harder to be imagined elicited low physiological activation.     Molecular and electronic structure investigation of encapsulated polytiophenes

    Insulated molecular wires (IMWs) are expected to be applied to various optoelectronic applications due to their unique photophysical, electronic, and mechanical properties which originate from the absence of -stacking.[1] Kazunori et al have succeeded in the synthesis of a self-threading polythiophene with a polyrotaxane-like 3D architecture (PSTB, see Figure 1a), for which an intrawire hole mobility of 0.9 cm2 V−1 s−1 has been measured.[2] In this study we aim to evaluate for the first time the extension of the -conjugation in encapsulated polythiophenes. A comparison between the experimental Raman spectra of the self-threading PSTB polymer with their correspondent oligomers (i.e. 2STB-5STB) suggests that the effective conjugation length in the polymer is longer than five monomer units. Whether the effective conjugation length of the polymer is better described by using the long oligomer extrapolation approach or periodic DFT calculations of the polymer is discussed in detailed by exploiting the very recent potentialities of state-of-the-art quantum chemical simulations of vibrational properties for crystalline solids.Universidad de Málaga.     Particle resuspension: challenges and perspectives for future models

    International audienceUsing what has become a celebrated catchphrase, Philip W. Anderson once wrote that "more is different" (Science, Vol. 177, Issue 4047, pp. 393-396, 1972). First formulated in the context of condensed matter, this statement carries far beyond the sole limits of solid-state physics. It emphasizes that collective behavior can be more than the mere sum of what happens for elementary constituents or the mere collation of the evolution of each degree of freedom. Said otherwise, complex phenomena can arise out of the interplay between multiple sub-phenomena each of which can be relatively simple. The process of particle resuspension, in which discrete particles adhering on a surface are pulled off and carried away by a fluid flow, is another example involving a web of phenomena pertaining to fluid mechanics, particle dynamics and interface chemistry whose crosseffects create an intricate topic. The purpose of this review is to analyze the physics at play in particle resuspension in order to bring insights into the rich complexity of this common but challenging concern. Following the more-is-different vision, this is performed by starting from a range of practical observations and experimental data. We then work our way through the investigation of the key mechanisms which play a role in the overall process. In turn, these mechanisms reveal an array of fundamental interactions, such as particle-fluid, particle-particle and particle-surface, whose combined effects create the tapestry of current applications. At the core of this analysis are descriptions of these physical phenomena and the different ways through which they are intertwined to build up various models used to provide quantitative assessment of particle resuspension. The physics of particle resuspension implies to hold together processes occurring at extremely different space and time scales and models are key in providing a single vehicle to lead us through such multiscale journeys. This raises questions on what makes up a model and one objective of the present work is to clarify the essence of a modeling approach. In spite of its ubiquitous nature, particle resuspension is still at the early stages of developments. Many extensions need to be worked out and revisiting the art of modeling is not a moot point. The need to consider more complex objects than small and spherical particles and, moreover, to come up with unified descriptions of mono-and multilayer resuspension put the emphasis on solid model foundations if we are to go beyond current limits. This is very much modeling in the making and new ideas are proposed to stimulate interest into this everyday but challenging issue in physics

    Electronically ordered ultrathin Cr2O3 on Pt(1 1 1) in presence of a multidomain graphene intralayer

    In the last decade, reducing the dimensionality of materials to few atomic layers thickness has allowed exploring new physical properties and functionalities otherwise absent out of the two dimensional limit. In this regime, interfaces and interlayers play a crucial role. Here, we investigate their influence on the electronic properties and structural quality of ultrathin Cr2O3 on Pt(111), in presence of a multidomain graphene intralayer. Specifically, by combining Low-Energy Electron Diffraction, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy, we confirm the growth of high-quality ultrathin Cr2O3 on bare Pt, with sharp surface reconstructions, proper stoichiometry and good electronic quality. Once a multidomain graphene intralayer is included at the metal/oxide interface, the Cr2O3 maintained its correct stoichiometry and a comparable electronic quality, even at the very first monolayers, despite the partially lost of the morphological long-range order. These results show how ultrathin Cr2O3 films are slightly affected by the interfacial epitaxial quality from the electronic point of view, making them potential candidates for graphene-integrated heterostructures
