    Fluid inclusion and petrologic characteristics of South India granulites and their bearing on the sources of metamorphic fluids are discussed. This paper served as a review and an introduction to the next paper by D. Jackson. Jackson presented carbon isotope data from gases extracted from fluid inclusions in South Indian granulites.     Carbon dioxide-rich inclusions commonly occur in the banded charnockites and khondalites of southern Kerala as well as in the incipient charnockites formed by desiccation of gneisses along oriented zones. The combined high density fluid inclusion isochores and the range of thermometric estimates from mineral assemblages indicate entrapment pressures in the range of 5.4 to 6.1 Kbar. The CO2 equation of state barometry closely compares with the 5 plus or minus 1 Kbar estimate from mineral phases for the region. The isochores for the high density fluid inclusions in all the three rock types pass through the P-T domain recorded by phase equilibria, implying that carbon dioxide was the dominating ambient fluid species during peak metamorphic conditions. In order to constrain the source of fluids and to evaluate the mechanism of desiccation, researchers undertook detailed investigations of the carbon stable isotope composition of entrapped fluids.     A rare case of symptomatic bilateral pheochromocytoma

    Pheochromocytoma with reported incidence of 2-8 per million, is a rare and special tumor with its own unique clinical and pathological features, originating from the amazingly intelligent neuroendocrine cells of chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla. It may behave as ‘great masquerader’ and be sweet and predictable as a child, while at times act as a ‘treacherous murderer’ crashing and tearing everything in its path with fierce rage, the main cornerstone of the disease being surgical excision. Here, we report a rare case of middle aged female presenting with hypertensive crisis which necessitates intensive care unit (ICU) management where she responded well to anti-hypertensives and radiological investigations were suggestive of bilateral pheochromocytoma. The course of treatment consisted of array of investigations to ascertain the diagnosis before embarking on bilateral adrenalectomy keeping in mind the consequences of absence of adrenal and subsequent possibility of Nelsons syndrome, which we were able to treat successfully. Here we want to highlight the consideration of bilateral adrenal tumors as a differential diagnosis for suprarenal growths, subsequent surgical course and post-operative medical treatment highlighting the importance of mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids for day to day functioning

    Now-a- day\u27s wireless control of appliance is in practice, because of its advantage like no wire is needed, multiple controlling is less complicated. The controlling range of wireless doorbell is 100M. As the wireless doorbell is wireless based project, it is divided into two major section i.e. transmitter and receiver. Transmitter: This transmitter section is designed around oscillator transistor (BF194B) T2 followed by two transistor (BC148) T1 and T3. Transistor T2 generate special radio frequency determined by trimmer (variable capacitor) and coil. Transistor T1 is used as pulse generator. The output from transistor T3 is given to emitter of transistor T2 in order to get radio frequency from its collector. Trimmer VC1 is used to adjust the transmitter frequency. Receiver: The receiver section is further divided into two main sections i.e. RF amplifier section and bell trigger section. An aerial is used to receive the transmitted frequency from remote which is further amplified by amplifier and trigger circuit. The whole receiver circuit utilizes seven transistors

    Hiatus hernia is a condition in which part of the stomach protrudes into the chest cavity through the esophageal hiatus, a hole in the diaphragm. The condition is often asymptomatic but can cause gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dysphagia, chest pain, and other complications in some cases. The diagnosis of hiatus hernia is typically made using imaging tests such as endoscopy or radiography and confirmation done using esophageal motility studies. Management of hiatus hernia depends on the severity and symptoms of the condition. Mild cases may be managed with lifestyle modifications such as weight loss, dietary changes, and avoiding certain trigger foods. Medications such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine receptor antagonists may also be used to control GERD symptoms in maximum number of cases. Surgical intervention will be necessary for more severe cases or cases that do not respond to conservative management. The two main types of surgery for hiatus hernia are conventional/open Nissen fundoplication and laparoscopic fundoplication. These procedures aim to strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter and prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. Overall, the management of hiatus hernia requires a multidisciplinary approach involving gastroenterologists, surgeons, and primary care providers. The optimal management will be an individualized approach addressing severity of symptoms and responses to drugs. This study aims to review the drug refractory cases of hiatus hernia in a select group of adult patients not eligible for standard laparoscopic approach diagnosed endoscopically and managed by open Nissen’s fundoplication

    Implications of conformational flexibility, lipid binding, and regulatory domains in cell-traversal protein CelTOS for apicomplexan migration

    Malaria and other apicomplexan-caused diseases affect millions of humans, agricultural animals, and pets. Cell traversal is a common feature used by multiple apicomplexan parasites to migrate through host cells and can be exploited to develop therapeutics against these deadly parasites. Here, we provide insights into the mechanism of the Cell-traversal protein for ookinetes and sporozoites (CelTOS), a conserved cell-traversal protein in apicomplexan parasites and malaria vaccine candidate. CelTOS has previously been shown to form pores in cell membranes to enable traversal of parasites through cells. We establish roles for the distinct protein regions of Plasmodium vivax CelTOS and examine the mechanism of pore formation. We further demonstrate that CelTOS dimer dissociation is required for pore formation, as disulfide bridging between monomers inhibits pore formation, and this inhibition is rescued by disulfide-bridge reduction. We also show that a helix-destabilizing amino acid, Pro127, allows CelTOS to undergo significant conformational changes to assemble into pores. The flexible C terminus of CelTOS is a negative regulator that limits pore formation. Finally, we highlight that lipid binding is a prerequisite for pore assembly as mutation of a phospholipids-binding site in CelTOS resulted in loss of lipid binding and abrogated pore formation. These findings identify critical regions in CelTOS and will aid in understanding the egress mechanism of malaria and other apicomplexan parasites as well as have implications for studying the function of other essential pore-forming proteins

It is a unique grass species with high dry matter, which sustains its utilization for direct animal grazing and as a feed complement during drought periods. It has additional advantages like preventing soil erosion and improving soil fertility. Napier grass also has potential for bioenergy production and conversion to alcohol or methane due to its rapid growth and degradable biomass characteristics.     Higher-order Galilean-invariant lattice Boltzmann model for microflows: Single-component gas

    We introduce a scheme which gives rise to additional degree of freedom for the same number of discrete velocities in the context of the lattice Boltzmann model. We show that an off-lattice D3Q27 model exists with correct equilibrium to recover Galilean-invariant form of Navier-Stokes equation (without any cubic error). In the first part of this work, we show that the present model can capture two important features of the microflow in a single component gas: Knudsen boundary layer and Knudsen Paradox. Finally, we present numerical results corresponding to Couette flow for two representative Knudsen numbers. We show that the off-lattice D3Q27 model exhibits better accuracy as compared to more widely used on-lattice D3Q19 or D3Q27 model. Finally, our construction of discrete velocity model shows that there is no contradiction between entropic construction and quadrature-based procedure for the construction of the lattice Boltzmann model.open252
