Quality of the Azores destination in the perspective of tourists
Tourism is a growing industry in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. However, little is known about how tourists evaluate this destination, something which certainly constitutes a shortcoming if one takes into consideration that this is a very competitive industry, with new destinations appearing every year and others increasing their market share. This paper focuses on the quality of the Azores destination in the perspective of tourists and, to an extent, has the goal of contributing to reduce this shortcoming. According to our findings, 74% of the tourists interviewed consider the global quality of the Azores destination to be very good or excellent, with the landscape, the climate/weather, the hospitality, the cleanliness and the security being the most highly-rated partial indicators. Additionally, a regression analysis indicates that the evaluation of the global quality of this destination varies according to the individual characteristics of tourists.N/
Merging traditional livelihood activities with new employment opportunities brought by ecotourism to Iona national park, Angola: rethinking social sustainability
Ecotourism activities and investment projects have been consistently increasing worldwide over
the last few decades. In this process, ecotourism has contributed to fight poverty, to create local
employment opportunities and to promote nature conservation. However, there are also plenty
examples of nature-base tourism destinations where ecotourism principles have been distorted
and negative impacts are on the rise. Therefore, studies that provide a deep understanding of
the roots and consequences of those both positive and negative impacts are needed to achieve
new higher tourism quality standards, to foster a sound local development and to promote an
integrated and sustainable national growth. To obtain information useful to contribute specific
recommendations aimed at linking tourism employers and job seekers, we have conducted a
survey addressing locals’ demographic characteristics and their engagement in traditional
livelihood activities. Data gathered from 202 respondents showed that in the largest villages
traditional livelihood activities, excepting pastoralism, tend to have little expression while the
same activities seem to play a key role in some small communities. Striking differences were
found between nomadic or semi-nomadic people and people who have been assimilated into the
western civilization and also have more sedentary life styles. Using this information and taking
in consideration some new employment opportunities brought nature-based tourism to the Iona
National Park, we have identified specific demographic profiles more suited for part-time and full-time jobs

This final report has as a main objective the analysis and reflection of the whole course carried out during the Pedagogical stage, within the scope of the Masters in Teaching Physical Education in Basic and Secondary Education in the Faculty of Human Motricity.
In this way, all the learning processes carried out during the whole course are presented, namely the initial evaluation, the design of the intervention, as well as some reflections on the pedagogical proposals and strategies used, according to the weaknesses and potentialities of the students of a class of the 8th year of the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education (CEB) and also the evaluation of the results of the students and of the annual plan.
Thus, the main purpose of this process is, in a reflexive and critical way, to demonstrate the entire course in all areas of learning: Organization and Management of Teaching and Learning (Area 1), Innovation and Pedagogical Research (Area 2), Participation in the School (Area 3) and Relationship with the Community (Area 4)
The impact of structural capital on the firm Innovativeness, the Galician Northern Portugal automotive industries reality
The intellectual capital is increasingly considered a major issue on the management and organization research and a source of competitive advantage. Although there are different models and approaches that try to identify the effect of intellectual capital on firm performance, there’s, also a lack of evidence and consensus. Based on that evidence, this paper focuses on the influence of the structural capital on the product- process and management innovativeness of the firm. A global model including the variables used in the previous literature is used and we establishes hypotheses for testing this model and use statistic technique to estimate the parameters of the model in a sample. To do so, we use a survey from 68 firms working on the auto components sector, established in the Northern Spain and Northern Portugal. We found firstly, that innovativeness has two main dimensions, perfectly differentiated, the product-process innovation and the management innovation; secondly that the structural capital dimensions influences differently each type of innovation capacity (innovativeness). We also concluded that the structural capital of the automotive firms based on the euro region Galicia (Spain) Northern Portugal influences positive and directly the management innovativeness. These results highlight the importance of the structural capital as well as highlight the main dimensions that influence the innovativeness, and more broadly, the value of intellectual capital as a competitive advantage in contemporary time. Moreover, point out the different character of product-process and management innovativeness.
Uniaxial-deformation behavior of ice Ih as described by the TIP4P/Ice and mW water models
Using molecular dynamics simulations, we assess the uniaxial deformation response of ice Ih as described by two popular water models, namely, the all-atom TIP4P/Ice potential and the coarse-grained mW model. In particular, we investigate the response to both tensile and compressive uniaxial deformations along the [0001] and [01̄10] crystallographic directions for a series of different temperatures. We classify the respective failure mechanisms and assess their sensitivity to strain rate and cell size. While the TIP4P/Ice model fails by either brittle cleavage under tension at low temperatures or large-scale amorphization/melting, the mW potential behaves in a much more ductile manner, displaying numerous cases in which stress relief involves the nucleation and subsequent activity of lattice dislocations. Indeed, the fact that mW behaves in such a malleable manner even at strain rates that are substantially higher than those applied in typical experiments indicates that the mW description of ice Ih is excessively ductile. One possible contribution to this enhanced malleability is the absence of explicit protons in the mW model, disregarding the fundamental asymmetry of the hydrogen bond that plays an important role in the nucleation and motion of lattice dislocations in ice Ih.Fil: Santos Flórez, Pedro Antonio. Quantum Neural Machine Learning: Theory and Experiments
Cloud-based access to quantum computers opens up the way for the empirical implementation of quantum artificial neural networks and for the future integration of quantum computation in different devices, using the cloud to access a quantum computer. The current work experimentally implements quantum artificial neural networks on IBM’s quantum computers, accessed via cloud. Examples are provided for the XOR Boolean function representation problem and decision under risk; in the last case, quantum object-oriented programming using IBM’s Qiskit Python library is employed to implement a form of quantum neural reinforcement learning applied to a classical decision under risk problem, showing how decision can be integrated into a quantum artificial intelligence system, where an artificial agent learns how to select an optimal action when facing a classical gamble. A final reflection is provided on quantum robotics and a future where robotic systems are connected to quantum computers via cloud, using quantum neural computation to learn to optimize tasks and act accordingly
