    Earth gravity and magnetic field anomalies in the Sierra of Socoscora, San Luis province

    La sierra de Socoscora se ubica en forma meridiana y se manifiesta como un escalón al noroeste de la Sierra Grande de San Luis. En la sierra de Socoscora las rocas del basamento están representadas por metamorfitas de alto grado con escasos afloramientos de metabasitas. Las mediciones del campo gravitatorio y magnético indican la presencia de un volumen mayor de estas rocas en su subsuelo. Los excesos de masa en esta sierra se hallan definidas por anomalías gravimétricas de Bouguer (resi duales positivas) similares a las encontradas en la Sierra Grande de San Luis. La magnetometría indica, a partir de las respuestas pos itivas, la existencia de rocas máficas con concentraciones anómalas de minerales magnéticos.The Sierra de Socoscora is a north – south trending mountain range, located nortwest of the Sierra Grande of San Luis. The basament is constituted by high grade metamorphic rocks with few associated metabasites. Earth gravity and magnetic field measurements are indicative of the presence of bigger volumes of mafic rocks below the surface, which carry anomalous concentrations of ferromagnetic and/or paramagnetic minerals (magnetite and/or sulfides). An excess of mass below this Sierra is shown by Bouguer gravimetric anomalie s with magnitudes similar to those measured in the Sierra Grande de San Luis. Positive magnetic anomalies are indicative of the presence of mafic rocks with anomalous concentrations of magnetic minerals.Fil: Kostadinoff, Jose.     Omnichannel retailing: a tale of three sectors

    Accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the long-anticipated digital transformation of traditional retail has become the new reality. Retailers are responding to changes in consumers’ shopping behaviours and their demand for new interaction channels and touchpoints to shop at their convenience, regardless of time and location. Consequently, retailers are experiencing a change from single-channel models to multi-channel and omnichannel models. Omnichannel retailing demands integrated channel management and operation to improve customers’ shopping experiences. This study uses measures of channel integration levels from previous research to analyse channel integration among leading vendors in three top retailing sectors (clothing and apparel, home furniture and grocery) and expands the analysis by including indicators of digital transformation. The model includes 27 indicators related to channel integration and 9 indicators of digital transformation, and compares the results across sectors. By so doing, the study also aims to help establish values that may be used as target or reference values of channel integration and digitalization of retailers across sectors, irrespective of their size. The research methodology uses the ’mystery shopper’ technique and includes the collection of data about the 165 leading companies in these sectors in Spain

    Social Media Diffusion by Spanish Public Research Institutions

    Public Research Institutions form, together with Universities, the core of scientific research in Spain. These organizations often publish their research in paper format or in their websites, but are generally falling behind in their adaptation to social media, and thus failing to reach wider audiences –especially Millennials. This study offers the preliminary results of an ongoing project aiming to identify best practices in the diffusion of scientific research by Spanish Public Institutions in social media, and more specifically in the three most popular social networking sites: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. To do so, the study proposes a set of metrics to assess the impact and reach of content published by the different research centers belonging to Spanish Public Research Institutions in those social media platforms, presents the tools used for data extraction, collection and visualization, and identifies the research centers that are most successful in disseminating their scientific activity in social media. Following this study, a set of interviews with community managers and directors of communication of these centers will offer complementary information that shall be helpful in providing guidelines to deploy an effective scientific diffusion strategy in social media to all Spanish Public Research Institutions

    Meiotic studies in <i>Dysdercus</i> Guérin Meneville, 1831 (Heteroptera: Pyrrhocoridae) : II. Evidence on variations of the diffuse stage between wild and laboratory-inbred populations of <i>Dysdercus chaquensis</i> Freiberg, 1948

    Dysdercus Guerin Meneville, 1831 comprises insect species that are often serious pests of cotton both in the Old and New World, representing the only taxon from Pyrrhocoridae in the Neotropical Region. The genus is cytologically characterized by possession of holokinetic chromosomes and a prereductional type of meiosis. So far, only seven species from the Old World and five species from the Neotropical Region have been cytogenetically described. In the present report we compare the male meiosis from both natural and inbred populations of Dysdercus chaquensis Freiberg, 1948. Our results demonstrated that even though both populations share the same diploid chromosome number, the presence of a diffuse stage was found to be committed to the wild population of the species. Furthermore, the diffuse stage was found in a high frequency in all analysed wild specimens, indicating the long duration of this period among the regular meiosis of D. chaquensis. Taking into account that the diffuse stage is connected with an intense and long period of cellular growth, and with an important transcriptional activity, the absence of this stage in all the inbred specimens of D. chaquensis could be related with the lack of unfavourable physiological conditions due to the environmental uniformity along seven years of inbreeding.Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse

    A comparison of hole-filling methods in 3D

    This paper presents a review of the most relevant current techniques that deal with hole-filling in 3D models. Contrary to earlier reports, which approach mesh repairing in a sparse and global manner, the objective of this review is twofold. First, a specific and comprehensive review of hole-filling techniques (as a relevant part in the field of mesh repairing) is carried out. We present a brief summary of each technique with attention paid to its algorithmic essence, main contributions and limitations. Second, a solid comparison between 34 methods is established. To do this, we define 19 possible meaningful features and properties that can be found in a generic hole-filling process. Then, we use these features to assess the virtues and deficiencies of the method and to build comparative tables.     Extraction, Processing and Visualization of Peer Assessment Data in Moodle

    [EN] Situated in the intersection of two emerging trends, online self- and peer assessment modes and learning analytics, this study explores the current landscape of software applications to support peer assessment activities and their necessary requirements to complete the learning analytics cycle upon the information collected from those applications. More particularly, the study focuses on the specific case of Moodle Workshops, and proposes the design and implementation of an application, the Moodle Workshop Data EXtractor (MWDEX) to overcome the data analysis and visualization shortcomings of the Moodle Workshop module. This research paper details the architecture design, configuration, and use of the application, and proposes an initial validation of the tool based on the current peer assessment practices of a group of learning analytics experts.
