TRANSALUD: A qualitative study of the healthcare experiences of transgender people in Barcelona (Spain)

However, in recent years, this pathologizing vision has begun to shift towards a perspective that focuses on the diversity of transgender peoples’ experiences. However, some transgender people still face denial of services, discrimination, harassment, and even violence by healthcare professionals, causing them to avoid seeking ongoing or preventive healthcare. This article describes the health experiences of transgender people in Barcelona regarding their access and use of non-specialized health services. Semi-structured interviews were conducted using a descriptive phenomenological approach with sixteen transgender people between December 2018 and July 2019. The data were analyzed descriptively and thematically following the method proposed by Colaizzi with the help of the Atlas.ti8 software. Transgender people care experiences were divided into three categories: overcoming obstacles, training queries, and coping strategies. Participants identified negative experiences and difficulties with the health system due to healthcare providers’ lack of competence. Discriminatory, authoritarian, and paternalist behaviors are still present and hinder the therapeutic relationship, care, and access to healthcare services. There is a fundamental need for the depathologization of transgender reality and training for healthcare professionals in the field of sexual diversity. Training in sexual and gender diversity must be included in the curricula of university courses in the health sciences

La iniciativa de este artículo surge con la necesidad de comprender ¿Cómo incide la cultura en la estrategia de internacionalización de la empresa? Para dar respuesta a la pregunta planteada, se utilizó el método hipotético-deductivo, el cual se inició con la selección de la bibliografía pertinente con el estudio del concepto de cultura, su incidencia en la decisión de entrada a los mercados internacionales y su incidencia en la elección de la estrategia de internacionalización de la empresa. En el desarrollo del artículo se estudió el concepto de complejidad y su relación con la cultura. En el mismo sentido se dilucidaron los diferentes elementos de la cultura que tienen incidencia en la internacionalización de los negocios, buscando evidenciar su efecto en los modos e entradas a los nuevos mercados y su incidencia en las estrategias que las empresas usan para competir en los mercados internacionales

Impact of the COVID-19 Health Crisis on Trans Women and Cis Men Sex Workers in Spain
Acord transformatiu CRUE-CSICThe objective of the study was to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sex workers in accessing health and social services. A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with 29 participants in Barcelona, Spain. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Four themes were identifed: (1) impact of COVID-19 on physical/mental health, (2) barriers and facilitators to health/social service access, (3) health decision-making, and (4) suggestions for future pandemic situations. Barriers to accessing health services were structural. Non-governmental organization support was the main facilitating factor. A person-centered, intersectional approach is suggested for future practice, considering co-occurring syndemic factors
From hidden-order to antiferromagnetism: electronic structure changes in Fe-doped URuSi
In matter, any spontaneous symmetry breaking induces a phase transition
characterized by an order parameter, such as the magnetization vector in
ferromagnets, or a macroscopic many-electron wave-function in superconductors.
Phase transitions with unknown order parameter are rare but extremely
appealing, as they may lead to novel physics. An emblematic, and still
unsolved, example is the transition of the heavy fermion compound URuSi
(URS) into the so-called hidden-order (HO) phase when the temperature drops
below K. Here we show that the interaction between the heavy
fermion and the conduction band states near the Fermi level has a key role in
the emergence of the HO phase. Using angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy,
we find that while the Fermi surfaces of the HO and of a neighboring
antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase of well-defined order parameter have the same
topography, they differ in the size of some, but not all, of their electron
pockets. Such a non-rigid change of the electronic structure indicates that a
change in the interaction strength between states near the Fermi level is a

In-situ estimation of ice crystal properties at the South Pole using LED calibration data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory
The IceCube Neutrino Observatory instruments about 1 km3 of deep, glacial ice at the geographic South Pole using 5160 photomultipliers to detect Cherenkov light emitted by charged relativistic particles. A unexpected light propagation effect observed by the experiment is an anisotropic attenuation, which is aligned with the local flow direction of the ice. Birefringent light propagation has been examined as a possible explanation for this effect. The predictions of a first-principles birefringence model developed for this purpose, in particular curved light trajectories resulting from asymmetric diffusion, provide a qualitatively good match to the main features of the data. This in turn allows us to deduce ice crystal properties. Since the wavelength of the detected light is short compared to the crystal size, these crystal properties do not only include the crystal orientation fabric, but also the average crystal size and shape, as a function of depth. By adding small empirical corrections to this first-principles model, a quantitatively accurate description of the optical properties of the IceCube glacial ice is obtained. In this paper, we present the experimental signature of ice optical anisotropy observed in IceCube LED calibration data, the theory and parametrization of the birefringence effect, the fitting procedures of these parameterizations to experimental data as well as the inferred crystal properties.</p
Galactic Core-Collapse Supernovae at IceCube: “Fire Drill” Data Challenges and follow-up
The next Galactic core-collapse supernova (CCSN) presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make astrophysical measurements using neutrinos, gravitational waves, and electromagnetic radiation. CCSNe local to the Milky Way are extremely rare, so it is paramount that detectors are prepared to observe the signal when it arrives. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a gigaton water Cherenkov detector below the South Pole, is sensitive to the burst of neutrinos released by a Galactic CCSN at a level >10σ. This burst of neutrinos precedes optical emission by hours to days, enabling neutrinos to serve as an early warning for follow-up observation. IceCube\u27s detection capabilities make it a cornerstone of the global network of neutrino detectors monitoring for Galactic CCSNe, the SuperNova Early Warning System (SNEWS 2.0). In this contribution, we describe IceCube\u27s sensitivity to Galactic CCSNe and strategies for operational readiness, including "fire drill" data challenges. We also discuss coordination with SNEWS 2.0
All-Energy Search for Solar Atmospheric Neutrinos with IceCube
The interaction of cosmic rays with the solar atmosphere generates a secondary flux of mesons that decay into photons and neutrinos – the so-called solar atmospheric flux. Although the gamma-ray component of this flux has been observed in Fermi-LAT and HAWC Observatory data, the neutrino component remains undetected. The energy distribution of those neutrinos follows a soft spectrum that extends from the GeV to the multi-TeV range, making large Cherenkov neutrino telescopes a suitable for probing this flux. In this contribution, we will discuss current progress of a search for the solar neutrino flux by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory using all available data since 2011. Compared to the previous analysis which considered only high-energy muon neutrino tracks, we will additionally consider events produced by all flavors of neutrinos down to GeV-scale energies. These new events should improve our analysis sensitivity since the flux falls quickly with energy. Determining the magnitude of the neutrino flux is essential, since it is an irreducible background to indirect solar dark matter searches
