Chiral Lagrangian with higher resonances and flavour SU(3) SU(3) breaking

A chiral Lagrangian with $SU(3)$ breaking and higher resonances is proposed. In this model, the $SU(3)$ breaking structure in vector-pseudoscalar sector is realized with the decay constants of pseudoscalar mesons and the masses of vector mesons used as inputs. We examine whether the resulting $SU(3)$ breaking effect in the charge radii of pseudoscalar mesons is consistent with the experimental facts.Comment: 29 pages, REVTEX(ver.3), DPNU-93-3

Sipervision and the work it self are all factors that can affect a person\u27s job statifaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between supervision and the work it self with the job statisfaction of employees in Community Eye health Center of North Sulawesi Province. This type of method used is analytic survey with cross sectional study involving 47 employes. The data collected was analyzed by univariate and bivariat. Data obtained from kuesioner primary and secondary data obtained from the Center for Community Eye Health profile of North Sulawesi Province. Statistical test used is Chi-square test. The results showed that as many as 28 employees or 59,6% of employees were statisfied and 19 other employees or 40,4% were less stastified. Results of this study suggest a link between supervision and job statisfaction of employees p value of 0.005 (p0.05). Supervise dan Pekerjaan Itu Sendiri merupakanfaktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kepuasan kerja seseorang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara supervise dan pekerjaan itu sendiri dengan kepuasan kerja pegawai di Balai Kesehatan Mata Masyarakat Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survey analitik dengan rancangan Cross Sectional Study dengan melibatkan 47 pegwai. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis secara Univariat dan Bivariat. Data Primer didaptkan dari kuesioner dan data sekunder didapatkan dari profil Balai Kesehatan Mata Masyarakat Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Uji Statistik yang digunakan adalah uji Chi Square dengan bantuan program computer. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebanyk 28 pegawai atau 59,6% pegawai merasa puas dan 19 pegawai lainnya atau 40,4% merasa kurang puas. Heritability and repeatability estimates of growth traits in FUNAAB Alpha and Noiler chicken genotypes

Genetic improvement of animals has greatly been encouraged as it has proved very efficient in improving productivity, health status and general management of animals. Hence, this research on heritability and repeatability of growth traits of FUNAAB Alpha and Noiler chickens. The study lasted for eighteen weeks and growth data were collected on weekly basis. Four hundred (400) day-old chicks, with 200 a piece for the two chicken genotypes were generated from parent stocks (5 cocks and 25 hens per genotype) with good pedigree data. Growth data were analysed using Generalized Linear Model of SAS and least significant difference (LSD) test was used to separate significant means. Computed variances and covariances of Generalized Linear Model of SAS were used to estimate heritability and repeatability of growth traits of interest. Noiler chicken genotype had a better body weight and linear body measurements from week ten to eighteen. Noiler male chickens were superior in all traits considered from week twelve to eighteen for genotype by sex interaction. Heritability and repeatability estimates were generally high in both chicken genotypes for all traits at the early stage while a decline was observed at the late stage. The highest heritability estimates for body weight observed at week seven in Noiler chicken and all linear body measurements (body circumference, breast girth, shank length, thigh length and wing length) observed at weeks 4, 12, 4, 2 and 4, respectively in FUNAAB Alpha is an indication that breeders can select for these traits at the aforementioned weeks

Large electroweak penguin contribution in B -> K pi and pi pi decay modes

We discuss about a possibility of large electroweak penguin contribution in B -> K pi and pi pi from recent experimental data. The experimental data may be suggesting that there are some discrepancies between the data and theoretical estimation in the branching ratios of them. In B -> K pi decays, to explain it, a large electroweak penguin contribution and large strong phase differences seem to be needed. The contributions should appear also in B -> pi pi. We show, as an example, a solution to solve the discrepancies in both B -> K pi and B -> pi pi. However the magnitude of the parameters and the strong phase estimated from experimental data are quite large compared with the theoretical estimations. It may be suggesting some new physics effects are including in these processes. We will have to discuss about the dependence of the new physics. To explain both modes at once, we may need large electroweak penguin contribution with new weak phases and some SU(3) breaking effects by new physics in both QCD and electroweak penguin type processes.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figure

Vaccination indices and concomitant serological status of Newcastle disease in chickens in Aba and Umuahia of Abia State

The vaccination indices of Newcastle disease (ND) in chickens in Aba and Umuahia towns of Abia state were studied alongside their corresponding antibody status. A total of 296 sera samples were collected from 74 chicken farms. A Haemagglution inhibition (HI) test was conducted to determine the ND virus serum antibody levels. Open and closed-ended questionnaires were administered to staff on the farms selected randomly in the study areas. Information on vaccine types, origin, administering personnel, revaccination interval, and records of ND outbreaks was collected. Whereas 68.9% of the farm carried out vaccination on their own, 27.0% and 4.1% of the vaccination were done by veterinarians and animal health scientists Farms in Aba and Umuahia had average geometric mean titres (GMT) of 166.32 and 100.33, respectively. Approximately 87% of the farms had protective immunity (GMT >8 or log23) against ND. Chickens aged 1-3, 4-8, 9-16, 17 weeks and above had average GMTs of 64.00, 76.99, 283.7 and 197, respectively. Post-vaccination antibody titres were 128.92, 110.63, 52.07 and 43.65, after 1 week, 2-3 weeks, 4 weeks, and above 4 weeks, respectively. Indigenous ND vaccines had an average GMT of 182.55, while foreign ND vaccines had a GMT of 120.82. The Result showed that 77% of farmers used foreign vaccines whereas 23% used indigenous vaccines. On vaccination interval, 40.5% revaccinated for ND every three weeks, 21.6% monthly, 8.1% bi-monthly and 29.7% revaccinated when necessary. About 54% of farmers reported previous ND occurrence. This study identified high seroprevalence of ND antibodies in the flock studied and indicated a high level of awareness and adherence to NDV vaccination among the farmers in the study area. The local vaccines elicited better immunogenic responses than their foreign counterparts. We, therefore, recommend that usage of the local vaccines be adopted, and revaccination is done before a month interval
