    Relationship Between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) Infection and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Southeast of Iran

    Abstract: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) are one of the most common, well-known pathogenic agents in the development of peptic ulcers. Some investigators have shown a relationship between H. pylori and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). However, this relationship is controversial. The aim of this study was to determine the association between H. pylori infection and MS. In a prospective case-control study, we studied 78 patients with MS and 123 Healthy Blood Donors (HBDs) for bacterial DNA detection and antibody assay. DNA extracted from samples (serum and saliva) and Real-time PCR was employed to detection of H. pylori genome. The present of anti H. pylori CagA and VacA Immunoglobulin G (IgG) were measured in serum by Western blot technique. We found H. pylori DNA in both samples of the 32.05% (25/78) and 32.52% (40/123) of patients and HBDs respectively (p = NS). Furthermore, anti H. pylori IgG for both antigens were detected in 21.95% (27/123) of HBDs in contrast with 25.64% (20/78) of patients (p = NS). Moreover, genome copy number of H. pylori was not significantly change in patients (140 copies/mL) and HBDs (147copies/mL). We didn't see significant correlation between H. pylori infection in both groups, But H. pylori CagA/VacA-IgG was found in patient quite more than HBDs (p<0.05) and this patients showed more positively for serum H. pylori genome. Although, these results indicate a lack of connection between the Helicobacter pylori infection and multiple sclerosis, the role of immune response against H. pylori in the modulation of MS requires further study

    Architectures for ku-band broadband airborne satellite communication antennas

    This paper describes different architectures for a broadband antenna for satellite communication on aircraft. The antenna is a steerable (conformal) phased array antenna in Ku-band (receive-only). First the requirements for such a system are addressed. Subsequently a number of potential architectures are discussed in detail: a) an architecture with only optical true time delays, b) an architecture with optical phase shifters and optical true time delays and c) an architecture with optical true time delays and RF phase\ud shifters (or RF true time delays). The last two architectures use sub-arrays to reduce complexity of the antenna system. The advantages and disadvantages of the different architectures are evaluated and an optimal architecture is selected

    The evaluating of efficacy of McKenzie exercises, Massage and foot Reflexology on pain and disability of men with mechanical chronic low back pain

    Chronic low-back pain (CLBP) affects most people at some point in their lives. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of 3 methods which are popular and known as non-invasive way in rehabilitation of CLBP. 60 men in age of group 25-45 with CLBP were randomly divided into four groups (McKenzie, massage, reflexology and control) and instructed to perform McKenzie exercise for 8 week, massage and foot reflexology for 10 days. Patient were assessed by McGill pain questioner (MPQ) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), based on pain feeling and the ability to do routine activity of life before starting the study (Pre-test Data) and at the end of study procedure (post-test Data). Results were analyzed by Paired T test, one way ANOVA and Tukey post hock. There was no significantly difference in Pre-treatment session between the 4 groups. MPQ and ODI were significantly lower in post-treatment sessions as compared to pre-treatment values in experimental groups (McKenzie, massage and foot reflexology). Significant decrease in MPQ and ODI values were found in all experimental groups, but no difference in efficacy were found between these groups. However the result that reach from comparison between each of experimental group and control group, showed that the experimental groups were significantly effective. McKenzie exercise, massage and foot reflexology in men with mechanical chronic low-back pain reduce pain and improved disability. Researchers were not found any differences between these 3 methods as compare with each other. Due to the results, Authors suggest that may be using massage therapy or foot reflexology, for patients with CLBP, is better and more effective if therapists are looking for treating in shortest possible duration

    Association of serum leptin with various indices of bone turn over in renal transplant patients.

    Leptin is a small peptide hormone that is mainly produced in adipose tissues. Leptin plays an important role in regulating appetite and energy expenditure and may be involved in modulating bone mineralization. The relationship between leptin and bone mineral density and bone biochemical parameters in not completely understood. This study was designed to examine the relationship between some biochemical parameters such as alkaline phosphatase (ALP), phosphorus (P), intact parathormone (iPTH) and calcium (Ca) with serum leptin level in renal transplant recipients. We studied 72 renal transplant patients (47 men and 25 women) with mean ages of 44 (+/- 12) years and mean body mass index (BMI) of 24.2 +/- 3.9Kg/m(2). Serum Ca, P, ALP, iPTH and serum leptin were measured. In this study a significant difference of serum leptin between males and females with higher values in females was seen. In patients a significant positive correlation of serum leptin with serum iPTH was found. There was not relationship between serum leptin with ALP, P, Ca, BMI, age and creatinine clearance. A negative relationship between serum leptin and the duration of kidney transplantation was found. Positive relationship of serum leptin with serum parathormone suggests that leptin may affect bone metabolism in renal transplant patients

    In vitro differentiation of rat mesenchymal stem cells to hepatocyte lineage

    Objective(s): Mesenchyme is a type of undifferentiated loose connective tissue that is derived mostly from mesoderm. Recently, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), as adult stem cells (ASCs) able to divide into a variety of different cells, are of utmost importance for stem cell research. In this research, ability of the liver extract to induce differentiation of rat derived omentum tissue mesenchymal stem cells (rOT-MSCs) into hepatocyte cells (HCs) was investigated. Materials and Methods: After isolation and confirmation of rOT-MSCs they were co-cultured with liver extract and hepatogenic differentiation was monitored. Expressions of mesenchymal stem cell markers were also analyzed via flow cytometry. Moreover, expressions of octamer-binding transcription factor-4 (Oct-4), Wilm's tumor suppressor gene-1 (WT-1), albumin (ALB), alpha fetoprotein (AFP), cytokeratin-18 (CK-18), and mRNAs were analyzed using RT-PCR on days 16, 18 and 21. ALB production was analyzed by immunocytochemistry and western blot. Furthermore, glycogen and urea production were determined via periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining and colorimetric assays respectively. Results: The phenotypic characterization revealed the positive expressions of CD90, CD44 and negative expression of CD45 in rOT-MSCs. These cells also expressed mRNA of Oct-4 and WT-1 as markers of omentum tissue. Differentiated rOT-MSCs in presence of 6 μg/ml liver extract expressed ALB, AFP, CK-18, glycogen and urea as specific markers of HCs. Conclusion: These observations suggest that liver extract is potentially able to induce differentiation of MSCs into hepatocyte lineage and can be considered an available source for imposing tissue healing on the damaged liver. � 2015, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.     The Relationship between Organizational Entrepreneurship and Communications Network in Health Deputy of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences

    Background & Objectives: Effective communication can be considered as the foundation of modern organizations and effective organizational communication can provide an appropriate context for organizational entrepreneurship. This study investigated the relationship between organizational communications network and organizational entrepreneurship in Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs in Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015. Statistical population of the research was all staff of Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs in Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences (n=106), of whom, 90 ones returned their questionnaires. Data gathering was done using the questionnaire of organizational communication network including 14 questions and the questionnaire for organizational entrepreneurship including 31 questions. Scoring was done using 5-item Likert scale. Data analysis was performed through SPSS16 and using t-test, ANOVA and correlation coefficient. Results: Mean score of communication network was 3.28 and mean score of organizational entrepreneurship was 3.13. The results showed a significant direct relationship between organizational communications network and entrepreneurship (P <0.001). Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, having an efficient communications network in organization makes the organization potentially entrepreneur. Therefore, organizations should try to create friendly and collaborative relationships among all staff through holding educational programs.
