The rise of BASIC is very much a phenomenon of the mid 70’s and early 80’s. It comes as something of a surprise to discover that it was actually born in the 60’s. BASIC was designed by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz at Dartmouth College, in the USA. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/3380

Optical Study of GaAs quantum dots embedded into AlGaAs nanowires

We report on the photoluminescence characterization of GaAs quantum dots embedded into AlGaAs nano-wires. Time integrated and time resolved photoluminescence measurements from both an array and a single quantum dot/nano-wire are reported. The influence of the diameter sizes distribution is evidenced in the optical spectroscopy data together with the presence of various crystalline phases in the AlGaAs nanowires.Comment: 5 page, 5 figure

Patterning of Surfaces for Subsequent Roll Bonding in a Low-Oxygen Environment Using Deformable Mesh Inlays

Efficient roll bonding for the manufacturing of clad strips not only requires surface activation but also is improved by a surface patterning to reduce the initial contact area. This increases contact stresses and facilitates a joining without an increasing rolling force. Experiments to pattern surfaces with deformable inlays during cold rolling for a subsequent bonding in low-oxygen atmosphere were carried out using two types of rolling mills, two types of inlays and two types of assemblies. Digital twins of selected experiments were created by means of the FE simulation software QForm UK 10.2.4. The main set of rolling parameters, which play a significant role during formation of the pattern shape considering deformation of the patterning tool, were investigated. The pilot roll bonding of patterned components under vacuum conditions, provided using vacuum sealer bags, allowed for an experimental realization of this approach. The concept technological chain of roll bonding in a low-oxygen or oxygen-free environment comprises the following stages: roll patterning; surface activation and sealing of the strips in a vacuum bag; subsequent roll bonding of the prepared strips inside the protective bag. The difference between the shape of the pattern created and the initial shape of the mesh insert can be quantitatively described by the change of its angle. This difference reaches maximum values when smaller rolls are used with increased rolling reductions. This maximum value is limited by the springback of the deformed insert; the limit is reached more easily if the inlay is not positioned on the rolling plane

Halochromic coordination polymers based on a triarylmethane dye for reversible detection of acids

Chromeazurol B (Na2HL) is a pH-sensitive (halochromic) dye based on a hydroxytriarylmethane core and two carboxylate functional groups, which makes it suitable for the synthesis of coordination polymers. Two new coordination polymers [NaZn4(H2O)3(L)3]·3THF·3H2O (1) and [Zn3(H2O)3(μ2- OH2)(μ3-OH)(HL)2(H2L)]·2THF·3H2O (2) incorporating Chromeazurol B linkers have been prepared and characterised. The structure of 1 comprises pentanuclear heterometallic {Zn4Na} nodes linked by six L3– anions to give a layered structure with a honeycomb topology. 2 crystallizes as a double-chain ribbon (ladder) structure with two types of metal node: a mononuclear Zn(II) cation and tetranuclear {Zn(II)}4 cluster. Chromeazurol B anions link each tetranuclear cluster to four individual Zn(II) cations and each Zn(II) cation with four tetranuclear clusters. Both compounds show pH-sensitivity in water solution which can be observed visually, giving the first example of a halochromic coordination polymer. The halochromic properties of 1 towards HCl vapors were systematically investigated. As-synthesized violet-grey 1 reversibly changes color from orange to pink in the presence of vapors of 2M and 7M HCl, respectively. The coordination of the Chromeazurol B anion at each color stage was examined by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and FT-IR measurements. The remarkable stability of 1 to acid and the observed reversible and reproducible color changes provide a new design for multifunctional sensor materials

POS-548 Glomerular filtration state of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis according to Cys-C indicators

According to modern literature reveiw, it is believed that about 8% of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) have chronic kidney disease. Subclinical kidney damage in JIA remains undiagnosed in real clinical practice. Kidney damage can manifest itself as a complication of the underlying disease or, as a consequence, its long-term treatment. The structure of renal pathology in JIA is represented by secondary amyloidosis, glomerulonephritis, tubulo-interstitial nephritis. Methods: We investigated the level of cystatin C (Cys-C) in the blood of 80 children with JIA. The age of the subjects was from 3 to 17 years. The calculation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was carried out twice (the first and third months of the study) on the basis of the concentration of Cys-C and creatinine in serum according to the methods: Hoek F.J. et al. (2003), Equation based on cystatin C (2012), Schwartz and Counahan-Barratt (2012)
