    Hodge structures associated to SU(p,1)

Let A be an abelian variety over C such that the semisimple part of the Hodge group of A is a product of copies of SU(p,1) for some p>1. We show that any effective Tate twist of a Hodge structure occurring in the cohomology of A is isomorphic to a Hodge structure in the cohomology of some abelian variety

    Get PDF
FinTech is defined as technological innovation in financial services that can produce business models, applications, processes, or products with material effects related to financial services provision. This study aims to analyze the impact of developing a digital payment system and prevent inflation due to a large amount of cash in circulation. The method used in this study is qualitative. Fintech technology is very beneficial for the community, especially in industrial revolution 4.0, where this digital payment system has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are efficiency and safety, while the disadvantages are higher interest costs. This digital payment system can minimize inflation due to the large amount of money circulating in society

The Discovery of a Giant H-alpha Filament in NGC 7213

The nearby Seyfert galaxy NGC 7213 has been imaged in H-alpha and HI with the CTIO 1.5 m telescope and with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA), respectively. Optically NGC 7213 looks undisturbed and relatively featureless but the continuum-subtracted H-alpha image shows a 19 kpc long filament located approximately 18.6 kpc from the nucleus. The H-alpha filament could be neutral gas photo-ionized by the active nucleus, as has been suggested for the Seyfert galaxy NGC 5252, or shock-ionized by a jet interacting with the surrounding HI, as has been suggested for the radio galaxy PKS 2240-41. The HI map reveals NGC 7213 to be a highly disturbed system suggesting a past merging event.Comment: 14 pages including 4 figures and 1 table. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a complication of gestation that is characterized by impaired glucose tolerance with first recognition during gestation. It develops when ?- cell of pancreas fail to compensate the diminished insulin sensitivity during gestation. This study aims to investigate the relationship between mother adiponectin level and ?- cell dysfunction with development gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and other parameters in the last trimester of pregnancy. This study includes (80) subjects ( pregnant women) in the third trimester of pregnancy, (40) healthy pregnant individuals as control group aged between (17 - 42) years and (40) gestational diabetes mellitus patients with aged between (20 - 42) years. The following biochemical investigation is studied: oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), adiponectin , insulin, C-reactive protein (CRP),body mass index (BMI), and homeostasis model assessment- insulin resistance (HOMA – IR). The adiponectin levels are significantly lesser in females who develop GDM than the control group (P?0.01), while the insulin and OGTT concentrations were significantly higher in females with GDM than control group (P?0.01).The concentrations of CRP are non significantly different between the females who develop GDM and the control group. Conclusions: Lower adiponectin concentrations are associated with an increased risk of the development of gestational diabetes mellitus and females, who develop gestational diabetes mellitus, have higher levels of insulin resistance from normal females, Obesity is a shape of persistent low grade inflammation which causes elevated concentrations of C- reactive protein

    Light Spanners

A tt-spanner of a weighted undirected graph G=(V,E)G=(V,E), is a subgraph HH such that dH(u,v)tdG(u,v)d_H(u,v)\le t\cdot d_G(u,v) for all u,vVu,v\in V. The sparseness of the spanner can be measured by its size (the number of edges) and weight (the sum of all edge weights), both being important measures of the spanner's quality -- in this work we focus on the latter. Specifically, it is shown that for any parameters k1k\ge 1 and ϵ>0\epsilon>0, any weighted graph GG on nn vertices admits a (2k1)(1+ϵ)(2k-1)\cdot(1+\epsilon)-stretch spanner of weight at most w(MST(G))Oϵ(kn1/k/logk)w(MST(G))\cdot O_\epsilon(kn^{1/k}/\log k), where w(MST(G))w(MST(G)) is the weight of a minimum spanning tree of GG. Our result is obtained via a novel analysis of the classic greedy algorithm, and improves previous work by a factor of O(logk)O(\log k).Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, to appear in ICALP 201

-- Some researchers have observed the mechanical characteristics of composite with strengthening by corn skin fibre reinforcement. However the combination of strength stress and water absorption of composite with corn skin fibres needs more exploration due to wide of its application particularly in the wet environment. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of fraction of the composite fibre to the tensile strength and moisture absorption. The main materials of this research are polyurethane as matrix and corn skin fibre as reinforcement. The research was done by mixing matrix and fibre at the certain volume fraction to produce the composite specimens. Specimens were tested by tensile test with ASTM D 3039 and water absorption test. The results shown that the higher fraction of the fibre, the increase the tensile strength. While for the water absorption, the absorption behaviour is affected by the expansion of polyurethane during producing the specimens

Radiation Force Modeling for a Wave Energy Converter Array

    Get PDF
The motivation and focus of this work is to generate passive transfer function matrices that model the radiation forces for an array of WECs. Multivariable control design is often based on linear time-invariant (LTI) systems such as state-space or transfer function matrix models. The intended use is for designing real-time control strategies where knowledge of the model’s poles and zeros is helpful. This work presents a passivity-based approach to estimate radiation force transfer functions that accurately replace the convolution operation in the Cummins equation while preserving the physical properties of the radiation function. A two-stage numerical optimization approach is used, the first stage uses readily available algorithms for fitting a radiation damping transfer function matrix to the system’s radiation frequency response. The second stage enforces additional constraints on the form of the transfer function matrix to increase its passivity index. After introducing the passivity-based algorithm to estimate radiation force transfer functions for a single WEC, the algorithm was extended to a WEC array. The proposed approach ensures a high degree of match with the radiation function without degrading its passivity characteristics. The figures of merit that will be assessed are (i) the accuracy of the LTI systems in approximating the radiation function, as measured by the normalized root mean squared error (NRMSE), and (ii) the stability of the overall system, quantified by the input passivity index, , of the radiation force transfer function matrix
