Inverter Model and Control Strategies for Single-Phase Rooftop Photovoltaic in Unbalance Three–Phase Residential Network

    Get PDF
The installation of single-phase rooftop photovoltaic (PV) are growing world widely, which have several benefits and drawbacks in residential low voltage (LV) distribution system. In one hand, this distributed generation (DG) is easy to install, has low maintenance costs, and subsidies in price. On the other hand, as PVs are installed, without controlling their ratings and locations it may deteriorate the overall grid performance including reversed power flows, high losses and unacceptable voltage profiles. This paper proposes modelling and controlling strategies for grid-tied, rooftop PV inverters that address some concerns of high penetration PV while also adding several benefits to the utility. The modelling strategy contains of a proper inverters’ control, which is developed in order to extract the maximum amount of the photovoltaic generator. The control strategy does not require an advanced communications infrastructure, however it allows for several collective controls of active and reactive power outputs of the PV units and their grid-tied inverters. The proposed strategies are simulated in Matlab/ Simulink platform. The results show that the inverters are devouring very less voltage and current harmonic and able to maintain approximately constant voltage profile for highly unbalanced system

Many factors can affect organizational success. One factor that is important to organizational success is effective leadership.  Research has shown there are differences in leadership style among generations.  A cohort- group whose length approximates the span of life and boundaries and fixed by peer personality defines a generation.  The purpose of this paper is to review the current leadership styles and generational differences literature.  The paper examines whether there is a relationship between leadership style and generational cohort and its potential impact on organizational success.  Structured interviews were conducted with individuals representing each generation.  Five open-ended questions were asked to participants to determine the generation they identified. In addition, participants used a 1-10 ranking scale to identify preferred characteristics in admired leaders.  The interviews demonstrated there are difference and similarities among the generations.  Veterans and Generation Xers view honesty as important core values.  Both express the need for communication in bridging the communication gap.  Differences related to Baby Boomer belief in self-commitment and Veterans recognizing the importance with surrounding yourself with others.  The author recommends researchers continue to examine, using an empirical method, generational differences and leadership styles to understand its affect on organizational success

The purpose of this mixed methods sequential explanatory study was to investigate the relationship between an individual’s generation and the communication styles used with other generations, and explore the influence of intergenerational communication styles on organizational relationships. The study utilized the Global Perceptions of Intergenerational Communication (GPIC) survey to assess participants’ perceptions of others and one’s own communication styles on three factors: accommodation, nonaccommodation, and respectful avoidance. Three hundred and eighty-five participants of staff and administrators employed at five community colleges located in South Texas completed the survey. Principal component analyses and multiple analysis of variance analysis results showed the younger generations perceived more nonaccommodation communication among the older generation. In addition, the younger generations indicated they use more respectful avoidance communication with the older generation. Inter-generational focus groups also highlighted these different communication experiences among the generations. Specifically, the focus groups showed Veterans/Baby Boomers find their communication experiences to be problematic with Millennials. Millennials also find their communication experiences to be problematic with the Veterans/Baby Boomer generation, whereas the Generation Xer focus group participants characterized the Veteran/Baby Boomer communication as rough and inappropriate. The study concluded there are differences in communication experiences between members of the generations that leads to tension and conflict in the workplace along with the perception of differences in their values. Specifically, the research highlights the values of respect, trust, and openness, which are all important among employees within an organizational setting

In this age of globalization every nation is struggling to keep pace with the upcoming demands to maintain quality. The progress of a nation largely depends on its citizens who are the products of its education system. This study is an attempt to unfold the status of university teachers of Bangladesh. Data collected through document review and in-depth interview of the university teachers that was analysed qualitatively. Researchers found that, most of the countries assiduously work for reshaping their teacher education while Bangladesh is focusing on needs for university teachers. However, most of the teachers express their opinion regarding emergence of teacher education and they agree that a good student might not be a good teacher always unless and until quality teacher education is there

Voltage driven, local, and efficient excitation of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond

Magnetic sensing technology has found widespread application in industries as diverse as transportation, medicine, and resource exploration. Such use cases often require highly sensitive instruments to measure the extremely small magnetic fields involved, relying on difficult to integrate Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) and Spin-Exchange Relaxation Free (SERF) magnetometers. A potential alternative, nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond, has shown great potential as a high sensitivity and high resolution magnetic sensor capable of operating in an unshielded, room-temperature environment. Transitioning NV center based sensors into practical devices, however, is impeded by the need for high power RF excitation to manipulate them. Here we report an advance that combines two different physical phenomena to enable a highly efficient excitation of the NV centers: magnetoelastic drive of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and NV-magnon coupling. Our work demonstrates a new pathway to combine acoustics and magnonics that enables highly energy efficient and local excitation of NV centers without the need for any external RF excitation, and thus could lead to completely integrated, on-chip, atomic sensors.Comment: Fixed an issue with the display of figure
