Ultrabroadband single-cycle terahertz pulses with peak fields of 300 kV cm1^{-1} from a metallic spintronic emitter

To explore the capabilities of metallic spintronic thin-film stacks as a source of intense and broadband terahertz electromagnetic fields, we excite a W/CoFeB/Pt trilayer on a large-area glass substrate (diameter of 7.5 cm) by a femtosecond laser pulse (energy 5.5 mJ, duration 40 fs, wavelength 800 nm). After focusing, the emitted terahertz pulse is measured to have a duration of 230 fs, a peak field of 300 kV cm1^{-1} and an energy of 5 nJ. In particular, the waveform exhibits a gapless spectrum extending from 1 to 10 THz at 10% of amplitude maximum, thereby facilitating nonlinear control over matter in this difficult-to-reach frequency range and on the sub-picosecond time scale.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

Background: Patient satisfaction is essential and must be taken into account when decisions are being made about changes and enhancements to services. Objectives: The aim of the current study was to assess patient satisfaction with the medical and nursing services provided to patients admitted to teaching hospitals affiliated to Arak University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 2009. The study population consisted of all patients admitted to the study setting. The instrument consisted of a demographic questionnaire and patient satisfaction questionnaire. Study data were analyzed using Chi-square test, Pearson's and Spearman's rho correlation coefficient. Results: In terms of the medical and nursing care provided, 67% and 69% of the participants were satisfied, respectively. The ‘access to opportune nursing care’ and ‘physician’s manner’ items received 82.7% and 81.7% of scores, respectively. Satisfaction with medical and nursing care was significantly correlated with the participants’ education levels (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The study showed that patient satisfaction was at an average level, therefore, policy makers in the organizations should consider customer-based feedback and apply various methods to improve it

Investigation of thermal behavior of α-PbO and β-PbO in O2 atmosphere

The compounds α-lead oxide (α-PbO) and β-lead oxide (β-PbO) were purchased from Merck co. and used for thermal investigations in laboratory. The compound was heated in a thermogravimeter at different temperature, from 25 to 400 °C. The used gas atmosphere was O2. The received products were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The received product Pb3O4 was confirmed by XRD. The textures of two different morphologies of α-PbO, β-PbO and the product Pb3O4 is investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) techniques

Effect of nanosilver particles was studied on the hatchability of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) egg and survival of the produced larvae at about 12ºC. In the first experiment the water-based nanosilver particles was used at concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 mgL^-1 for 30 minutes per day starting 24 hour post egg incubation until the hatching time. The mean percentage of hatchability reached in 27.6±0.2, 38.2±0.1, 41.6±0.4 and 48.6±1.5 in troughs treated with 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 mgL^-1 nanocid, respectively compared with 64.7±0.2 % for trough treated with malachite green at 2 mgL^-1 as positive control (P0.05). These data suggest a possible application of nanosilver particles in aquaculture sector particularly using incubator troughs of trout containing nanosilver materials

Black hole solutions to Einstein-Bel-Robinson gravity

By employing a combination of perturbative analytic methods, we study the physical properties of a static-spherically symmetric black hole in the framework of the recently proposed Einstien-Bel-Robinson version of gravity. We show that interestingly the theory propagates a transverse and massive graviton on a maximally symmetric background with positive energy. There is also a single ghost-free branch that returns to the Einstein case when \beta\to 0. Then, we obtain the conserved charges of the theory to study the thermodynamics of the black hole solutions. We get the thermodynamical quantities and show that the solutions undergo a first-order phase transition with associated Van der Waals behavior. We analyze the specific heat, determining that the black holes are thermodynamically stable over large regions of parametric space.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure

Effect of spiritual counseling on spiritual well-being in Iranian women with cancer: A randomized clinical trial

    Get PDF
Objectives This study examined the effect of spiritual counseling on the spiritual well-being of Iranian women with cancer. Design and setting a randomized clinical trial was conducted on 42 female cancer patients who were randomized to either an 8-week spiritual counseling intervention (n = 21) or a control group that received routine education/care (n = 21). Spiritual well-being (SWB) was assessed before and after the 8-week spiritual counseling program using Paloutzian and Ellison's (1983) Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS). Results There were no significant differences on SWBS and its two subscales scores (RWB and EWB) between intervention and control groups at baseline (p >.05). After intervention, there was a significant mean difference in SWB (p =.001), RWB (p =.013) and EWB (p =.001) in two groups. Conclusions Spiritual counseling is associated with significant improvements in SWB in Iranian women with cancer. Interventions that acknowledge the spiritual needs of these patients should be incorporated into conventional treatments. © 201

Supply chain reconfiguration for new product development through risk management approach

    Get PDF
Nowadays, innovation is increasingly growing and the lifetime of products is decreasing. In this situation, New Product Development (NPD) is an advantage that makes it possible to survive in the competitive market. However, risks are unavoidable in NPD in any industry. Therefore, identifying, management, and mitigation of risks are considered of high significance for companies. By taking risk management into account, this study introduces a new multi-objective mathematical model for Supply Chain (SC) configuration in the presence of a new product. The considered SC is multi-echelon, multi-resource, multi-period, and multi-product. In order to manage the risk in this SC, appropriate mitigation strategies were chosen among various risk response strategies considering their cost and effectiveness. Furthermore, inuence of each choice on SC was accounted for in the mathematical model. The assumed model explored the optimum tactical and operational Supply Chain Management (SCM) decisions. The ability of the model was assessed by solving a numerical example. The result showed that the choice of various response strategies as well as new product production inuenced SC configuration
