New approach for robust multi-objective optimization of turning parameters using probabilistic genetic algorithm
In this paper, a contribution to the determination of
reliable cutting parameters is presented, which is minimizing
the expected machining cost and maximizing the expected
production rate, with taking into account the uncertainties of
uncontrollable factors. The concept of failure probability of
stochastic production limitations is integrated into constrained
and unconstrained formulations of multi-objective optimiza-
tion problems. New probabilistic version of the nondominated
sorting genetic algorithm P-NSGA-II, which incorporates the
Monte Carlo simulations for accurate assessment of cumula-
tive distribution functions, was developed and applied in two
numerical examples based on similar and anterior work. In the
first case, it is a question of the search space that is completely

by high natural variability related to the multi-pass
roughing operation: in this case, the failure risk of technolog-
ical limitations are considered as objectives to minimize with
economic objectives. The second case is related to deformed
search space due to the uncertainties specific to finishing op-
eration; therefore, the economic objectives are minimized un-
der imposed maximum probabilities of failure. In both situa-
tions, the efficiency and robustness of optimal solution
Assessment of the availability of phosphate to corn (Zea mays L) using 32P isotope dilution technique
This study investigate the effectiveness of two phosphate rocks (PRs), an unreactive phosphate rock from China (CPR) and a reactive phosphate rock from North Carolina, USA (NCPR) compared to triple superphosphate (TPR), a highly water-soluble phosphate fertilizer. These fertilizers were tested using three crops of corn (Zea mays L) grown consecutively on a Serdang series soil (Typic Paleudult). 32P isotope dilution technique was used to access their P availability. The rate of P used was 100 kg P ha-1, applied once at the beginning of the experiment. NCPR was as efficient as TSP in providing P to the first crop, while CPR showed the lowest percentage of utilization. In the second crop, NCPR was the superior source of P. However, in the third crop all three sources showed very poor percentages of utilization. The total amount of P taken up by the three crops of corn was 13.65, 18.04 and 8.56 kg ha-1 from TSP, NCPR and CPR respectively. Thus this study suggests that NCPR is an effective source of P for corn and can be used as a substitute for the water-soluble phosphate fertilizers. CPR is not a suitable phosphate source
Antimicrobial properties from different parts of Ficus Deltoidea / Norintan Sahali
Antimicrobial agents from natural sources gained attention as antimicrobial resistance has become a growing issue. Ficus deltoidea is a traditional medicine plant that clinically proven has antimicrobial properties. However, determination of antimicrobial properties from different parts ofFicus deltoidea is needed, as it able to identify the part of the plant that possessed antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 43300), Bacillus cereus (ATCC 14579), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853). Screening of antimicrobial activity of methamlic extract of the lea~ stem, fig, and root ofFicus deltoidea was made using disc diffusion method, followed by minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) for sensitive organisms. The preliminary screening showed inhibition activity of all Ficus deltoidea parts against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, but negative results for Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aerugin0 sa. The MIC ofthe leafwas considered as good against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, same as the fig and stem against Staphylococcus aureus. While the remaining plant parts were considered as rmderate. The MBC test confirming bactericidal effects of all parts of Ficus deltoidea against both Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. The leaf, stem, fig and root ofFicus deltoidea against Staphylococcus aureus has MBC value of62.5mg/ml, 125mglml, 125mg/ml and 250mg/ml. While against Bacillus cereus have a value of62.5mg/ml, 250mg/ml, 500mg/ml and 500mg/ml. This study reveals that Ficus deltoidea leaf, fig, stem and root extract have antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, and could potentially be used as a natural antibacterial agent to treat bacterial infections

Comparative analysis of the impacts on the environmental sustainability in Hass Avocado cultivation in Colombia, Mexico, and Perú
Hass Avocado (AH) is currently experiencing a great boom due to it’s high global consumption,in which Colombia plays an important role as an exporter. This study consisted of perform a narrative bibliographic review on the environmental sustainability impacts about the expansión of AH cultivation in the country, taking into account other producing countries such as Mexico and Peru. It was found that environmental sustainability is affected in terms of water resources, soil, biodiversity, and also contributes to an increase in deforestation, leading to changes in the land use. Finally, some environmental management initiatives found in Mexico and Colombia during the literature review are presented, as well as proposals for environmental management of AH cultivation, highlighting land planning as a fundamental pillar for its sustainability.Especializació
