While Egypt enjoyed a heritage of local community press, genuine professional endeavors were nearly non-existent till recently. However, with Egypt undergoing a transitional phase, the emergence of community journalism became central to facilitate the shift into a more democratic state. Hence, this study explores the relation between community journalism and civic engagement in Egypt through examining a case study, El-Fayoumeya newspaper published as part of Sahafet Welad El-Balad media project. The study also discusses the state of community journalism in Egypt and the government\u27s media policies related to the issue. This includes an assessment of the state of community journalism in Egypt\u27s governorates, taking into account the challenges it faces and opportunities ahead. Moreover, the study examines the effect of political and socioeconomic status on civic engagement in Egyptian local governorates in post 2011 Revolution, and verifies whether the state of community journalism in Egypt\u27s governorates matches with the definitions of the concept found in the literature. The study utilizes a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods through combining interview data and survey data. It concludes that the poor heritage of community journalism is mainly an outcome of the constraining media policies adopted by the consecutive Egyptian governments to ensure tightening its control over privately-owned newspapers. Also, of the three broad categories of civic engagement (Awareness, Interaction and Participation), awareness is the most evident outcome of recent community journalism initiatives in Egyptian governorates

This study is descriptive analytical cross sectional study, aimed to measure plasma uric acid, urea and creatinine levels in Sudanese hypertensive patients. Blood samples were collected from sixty patients with hypertension (study group) and twenty five samples from healthy, normotensive subjects (control group) from ribat university Hospital during the period from December 2017 to January 2018.Plasma levels of uric acid, urea and creatinine were measured in each group. Results showed that in hypertensive patients, the plasma uric acid mean level was (8.5_+1.6 mg/dl), urea mean level was (40 _+13.4mg/dl) and for creatinine (1.14_+0.28mg/dl) were significantly higher than normotensive. (P.value< 0.03), (p.value< 0.001) and (p.value<0.05) respectively. The study illustrated a moderately weak positive correlation between uric acid and systolic and diastolic measurements of hypertension patient to. (r=0.58, p.value 0.000). Renal function and uric acid should regularly measuredIn hypertensive patients especially in those with prolonged period of the diseas

    Application of the operator φ ((a,b,c@d,e); q,ƒDq) for the polynomials Yn(a, b, c; d, e; x, y|q)

In this paper, we construct the exponential operator φ((a,b,c@d,e); q,ƒDq) that has five parameters a, b, c, d, e and we define a more general polynomials Yn(a, b, c; d, e; x, y|q), in which case, the bivariate Rogers-Szegšo polynomials hn(x, y|q) become special cases of Yn(a, b, c; d, e; x, y|q). Furthermore, we involve the operator’s technique to give an elegant proof for the generating function with its extension, Mehler’s formula with its extension, and Rogers formula for the polynomials Yn(a, b, c; d, e; x, y|q). As well as, we present some special values for the parameters a, b, c, d, e that will be inserted in the identities of Yn(a, b, c; d, e; x, y|q) in order to establish the generating function and its extension, Mehler’s formula and its extension, and the Rogers formula for hn(x, y|q).Publisher's Versio

A Proposed E-learning Technology Management Model for Universities in Response to the COVID-19 Global Crisis

    Get PDF
The overall purpose of the study is to propose an e-learning technology management model that responds to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and that has led to the closure of almost all the world’s universities in 2020/2021, leading to many complications in arranging for remote teaching and learning processes. The basic design of the study included the analysis of different technology management models in terms of scope and integration. In addition to a survey directed to several international higher education and e-learning experts as well as a thematic analysis for qualitative data obtained from experts’ comments and views. The major findings, from both quantitative and qualitative analysis, structured the design of the model that has the advantage of mobilizing all university resources towards the achievement of intended learning outcomes. It focuses on six domains for elearning technology management: a) planning, b) governance and administration, c) capacity building, d) development, e) interactive teaching and learning, and f) assessment and evaluation. Hence, the proposed elearning technology management model provides better access, and more economic management of resources, and maximizes return on investment with better learning outcomes at higher education institutions

Manufacturing and characterization of an effective and eco‐friendly nano insecticide with the aid of green alga Chlorella vulgaris in contrast to traditional insecticide

There is a growing demand for the manufacture of eco‐friendly insecticide. This study aimed to establish an aqueous extract of Chlorella vulgaris as a green factory to manufacture nano‐insecticide of titanium nanoparticles to control house flies (Musca domestica) by describing the basic properties of TiO2 solution before and after manufacturing. The absorbance was raised to 0.58, while transmission decreased to 38 under UV‐Visible spectra. Regarding to XRD analysis, seven sharp diffraction peaks appeared for a bulk solution while only three sharp peaks were noticed after phyco‐based synthesis. The crystal size of the prepared titanium nanoparticles was determined to be 27.39 nm. Furthermore, the observed size for bulk particles ranged from 92.33 to 249.6 nm through SEM, while for nanocrystalline the size ranged from 9.395 to 206 nm. Various phytochemicals were detected within the algal extract, including phenols, tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, resins, and saponins. All of these active compounds participated in nano‐synthesis by acting as reducing and stabilizing agents. Finally, titanium nanoparticles were used as a controlling agent against house flies Musca domestica. In this study, this nanoparticles application also has been compared with traditional insecticide Imidacloprid. The high mortality percentages reached 100% against the first larval stage, 70% against the third larval stage, and 93.3% in adult flies. These mortalities were higher after using Imidacloprid for all tested stages. Many phenotypic distortions were also observed in house flies treated with TiO2 NPs prepared by Chlorella, including failure in pupal emergence and maturity, incomplete development in the head, legs, and wings, and disappearance of the genital organs. The study demonstrated that C. vulgaris is a good candidate for nanomanufacturing and a rich naturally derived nanopesticide

This research is designed to identify the scope of positive discipline implementation as a classroom management approach in Groupe Scholaire Oasis (an international School in Cairo City) through investigating PD's impact on students’ well-being, and academic achievement. Researchers used a quantitative method through questionnaires applied on samples of students from two different age groups. Data analysis indicated that Positive Discipline approach as a Classroom Management Approach has a significant impact on students’ well-being and academic achievement after six years of implementation. This significant impact is on students of different grades (3- 5 age group and 6 – 9 age group). On the other hand, PD’s impact on students’ well-being and academic achievement differ according to age. The results showed that 3- 5 grades group was superior to the 3 – 6 grades group with regard to: PD Seven Abilities, Student: Well-Being, and Approach to Learning (ATL) Skills

    Get PDF
This study aims to investigate the impact of Artificial intelligence-driven solutions on school leaders’ proficiencies. Leaders have the responsibility of making decisions in educational institutions as well as carrying out routine tasks daily. Artificial intelligence-assisted applications have noteworthy contributions to the field of educational management. The scope of this study is limited to selected features; data analytics, chatbot, and e-survey. The basic design of this study started with analyzing literature in this domain. This was followed by designing a system consisting of four models: building a dashboard, predicting students’ results, creating a chatbot for responding to parents’ queries, and creating an e-survey for measuring staff satisfaction. The prominent finding of this study is the significant impact of Artificial intelligence on leaders’ competencies
