    THE BÍLINA TUNNEL – SELECTED GEOTECHNICAL ASPECTS OF A PROPOSED UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE

    Every workday the city of Bílina, with the I/13 road running through it, suffers from traffic congestion. The road is designed as dual carriageway outside Bílina but only as a single carriageway inside the city. Three roundabouts further complicate the situation. As a solution a 1,3 km long tunnel going under the city was proposed. The preliminary geotechnical investigation describes the geological conditions of the area, suggests the most appropriate localisation details of the tunnel, points out several complications that can be expected and finally offers solutions to mitigate them

    Tato práce se zabývá geotechnickými poměry v oblasti vodochodského letiště. V jejím rámci byla provedena rešerše dostupné literatury, odběry vzorků v oblasti a jejich zpracování v laboratoři. Na základě výsledků laboratorních zkoušek bylo poté provedeno posouzení vhodnosti zkoušených materiálů z hlediska příslušných normativů. Také byly zkonstruovány tři geologické řezy. Byl proveden základní klasifikační rozbor a doplňující zkoušky dle ČSN 73 6133 (2010), Kapitola 4. Archivní dokumentace i výsledky zkoušek prokázaly značnou variabilitu geologického prostředí v zájmové oblasti. Práce popisuje současný nevyhovující stav vzletové a přistávací dráhy letiště a navrhuje jednu z možností její sanace. Také posuzuje základové poměry dalších stavebních objektů. Práce na závěr upozorňuje na některé problémy, které se v oblasti mohou vyskytnout a uvádí poznatky, kterým bude nutné věnovat pozornost při další průzkumné činnosti.This work looks into geotechnical conditions in Vodochody Airport area. In this work research into available literature, sampling and laboratory processing of the samples were conducted. Based on the results of laboratory examinations, evaluation of suitability of the tested materials from the viewpoint of corresponding standards was accomplished. Three geological cross sections were also constructed. Basic classification analysis and additional tests after ČSN 73 6133 (2010), Chapter 4 were conducted. Both archival documentation and tests results prove significant variability of geological setting in the area of interest. The work describes current unsatisfactory state of the airport's runway and proposes one alternative of reconstruction. Foundation conditions of further constructions are also considered.     Effect of added lime on consistency limits of silty clay

    This work looks into the effect of added lime on consistency limits of silty clay. It was carried out under the support of GAUK 62008 grant. In this work changes of consistency limits of a loessy soil from the borrow pit Horky nad Jizerou with amount of added quicklime (CaO) and curing time were observed. From the development of consistency limits the lowest amount of quicklime needed for the establishment of long - term (pozzolanic) reactions in the soil was determined. Consistency limits were determined following standardized procedures in an accredited laboratory. Determination of the liquid limit was conducted using the 80 g/30ř fall cone. Firstly sample heating caused by the exothermic nature of the slaking reaction CaO + H2O → Ca(OH)2 + heat and rapid soil flocculation after the lime addition were observed. Furthermore increase of the plastic limit, unpredictable behavior of the liquid limit and therefore influenced behavior of the plasticity index in agreement with findings stated in the research part were observed. The results showed finishing of the modification reactions within 48 hours after the lime addition too. Findings stated by Rogers et al. (1997) about the value of the lowest amount of quicklime determined by the consistency limits method being lower than the value determined by..

    Tato práce se zabývá geotechnickými poměry v oblasti vodochodského letiště. V jejím rámci byla provedena rešerše dostupné literatury, odběr vzorků v oblasti a jejich zpracování v laboratoři. Byl proveden základní klasifikační rozbor a doplňující zkoušky dle ČSN 73 6133, Kapitola 4. Z jejich výsledků vyplývá, že kvartérní fluviální sedimenty, které pokrývají zkoumanou oblast, lze po zhutnění použít do aktivní zóny dráhového systému letiště. Také ostatní stavební objekty, které nevyžadují metody hlubinného zakládání, lze na této půdě bez problému založit. Práce na závěr upozorňuje na některé problémy, které se v oblasti mohou vyskytnout a uvádí poznatky, kterým bude nutné věnovat pozornost při další průzkumné činnosti.This work looks into geotechnical conditions in Vodochody Airport area.
