    Plasma wave instabilities induced by neutrinos

    Quantum field theory is applied to study the interaction of an electron plasma with an intense neutrino flux. A connection is established between the field theory results and classical kinetic theory. The dispersion relation and damping rate of the plasma longitudinal waves are derived in the presence of neutrinos. It is shown that Supernova neutrinos are never collimated enough to cause non-linear effects associated with a neutrino resonance. They only induce neutrino Landau damping, linearly proportional to the neutrino flux and GF2G_{\mathrm{F}}^{2}.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures, title and references correcte

    The 558 km range extension of the Amazonian aroid Dracontium nivosum (Lem.) G.H.Zhu into semiarid Northeast Brazil is confirmed. This species occurs in Ceará in threatened fragments of brejo forest at ca. 580–870 m elevation. An illustrated taxonomic description is provided. The species’ Extent of Occurrence (EOO) is estimated as 356,392 km2 (meets Least Concern); the Area of Occupancy (AOO), 60 km2 using a 2×2 km cell (Endangered). Within Ceará the EOO is 41.4 km2 (Critically Endangered) and the AOO is 16 km2 (Endangered). © 2016 Check List and Authors.12

By using this web application, customers can save the cost and time of visiting the supermarket. Customers who come to the supermarket using this web application will have the facility of ordering the products they need from home without going to the supermarket and having them delivered to their homes. Customers also get the opportunity to check the order status when they have ordered a product through this web application. Admin can add products to the system using the admin dashboard. Those added products will be displayed to the customers. After registering in the system, a customer can purchase goods. By entering the address of the place where customer wants to bring the purchased product, customer can bring the product to the relevant location. This web application is user-friendly and meets most of the requirements of customers and staff

    Phylogeny, distribution and pathogenicity of Lasiodiplodia species associated with dieback of table grape in the main Brazilian exporting region

    [EN] Botryosphaeria dieback is an important disease of table grape in the Sao Francisco Valley, the main Brazilian exporting region. The objectives of this study were to identify species of Lasiodiplodia associated with botryosphaeria dieback of table grapes in the Sao Francisco Valley, investigate the prevalence and distribution of the species in the region, and evaluate their pathogenicity and virulence in green shoots of table grape. A total of 112 Lasiodiplodia isolates were obtained from 14 vineyards, located in Casa Nova, Juazeiro and Petrolina. Fungal identifications were made using phylogenetic analysis based on partial sequences of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (EF1-alpha) and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences, in combination with morphometric characteristics of conidia. Eight species of Lasiodiplodia were identified: L. brasiliense, L. crassispora, L. egyptiacae, L. euphorbicola, L. hormozganensis, L. jatrophicola, L. pseudotheobromae and L. theobromae. Except for L. crassispora, L. pseudotheobromae and L. theobromae, all the other species are reported for the first time on grapevine worldwide. The distribution of Lasiodiplodia species differed between the three table grape populations of Sao Francisco Valley. All Lasiodiplodia species isolated in this study were present in the population of Casa Nova and Lasiodiplodia theobromae was the most prevalent.     Anomalous Rashba spin splitting in two-dimensional hole systems

    It has long been assumed that the inversion asymmetry-induced Rashba spin splitting in two-dimensional (2D) systems at zero magnetic field is proportional to the electric field that characterizes the inversion asymmetry of the confining potential. Here we demonstrate, both theoretically and experimentally, that 2D heavy hole systems in accumulation layer-like single heterostructures show the opposite behavior, i.e., a decreasing, but nonzero electric field results in an increasing Rashba coefficient.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

    The phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks) constitute an important family of lipid kinase enzymes that control a range of cellular processes through their regulation of a network of signal transduction pathways, and have emerged as important therapeutic targets in the context of cancer, inflammation and cardiovascular diseases. Since the mid-late 1990s, considerable progress has been made in the discovery and development of small molecule ATP-competitive PI3K inhibitors, a number of which have entered early phase human trials over recent years from which key clinical results are now being disclosed.     Fermions, T-duality and effective actions for D-branes in bosonic backgrounds

    We find the effective action for any D-brane in a general bosonic background of supergravity. The results are explicit in component fields up to second order in the fermions and are obtained in a covariant manner. No interaction terms between fermions and the field f=b+Ff=b+F, characteristic of the bosonic actions, are considered. These are reserved for future work. In order to obtain the actions, we reduce directly from the M2-brane world-volume action to the D2-brane world-volume action. Then, by means of T-duality, we obtain the other Dp-brane actions.     Possible symmetries of the superconducting order parameter in a hexagonal ferromagnet

    We study the order parameter symmetry in a hexagonal crystal with co-existing superconductivity and ferromagnetism. An experimental example is provided by carbon-based materials, such as graphite-sulfur composites, in which an evidence of such co-existence has been recently discovered. The presence of a non-zero magnetization in the normal phase brings about considerable changes in the symmetry classification of superconducting states, compared to the non-magnetic case.Comment: 4 pages, REVTe

    Kullback-Leibler and Renormalized Entropy: Applications to EEGs of Epilepsy Patients

    Recently, renormalized entropy was proposed as a novel measure of relative entropy (P. Saparin et al., Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 4, 1907 (1994)) and applied to several physiological time sequences, including EEGs of patients with epilepsy. We show here that this measure is just a modified Kullback-Leibler (K-L) relative entropy, and it gives similar numerical results to the standard K-L entropy. The latter better distinguishes frequency contents of e.g. seizure and background EEGs than renormalized entropy. We thus propose that renormalized entropy might not be as useful as claimed by its proponents.
