Agronomic and bromatologic aspects of forage legumes from brazilian NE.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the agronomic and bromatologic aspects of nine herbaceous forage legumes. Legumes studied included C. ternatea L., D. heterocarpon (L.) DC. subsp. ovalifolium (Prain) Ohashi cv. Itabela, A. pintoi Krap and Greg. cv. Amarillo, Pueraria phaseoloides (Roxb.) Benth, S. guianensis (Aubl.) Sw. cv. Bandeirante, cv. Cook and cv. Mineirão and Stylosanthes macrocephala Ferreira e Sousa Costa cv. Pioneiro. The following response variables were measured: soil cover, plant height, fresh matter production, stand, seed production, FDN, FDA, hemicellulose, lignin, PB and MM concentrations of leaves and stems. Four cuts were performed during the experimental period. Cutting intensities were at the ground level for the first cut and 5 cm for the following cuts. It was used a complete randomized block design with three replications per treatment. C. ternatea showed the greatest fresh matter yield summed along the four cuts (45.6 t/ha/432 d). This same legume showed one of the greatest PB concentrations, both for leaves (27.4%) and for stems (11.5%). At 43 days after transplanting, C. mucunoides showed the greatest soil coverage. During the 432 days of experimental period, the S. guianensis cultivars did not flower, however, C. mucunoides, C. ternatea, and S. macrocephala presented the greatest seed production. A. pintoi, C. ternatea and C. mucunoides showed greater potential for forage production in this region, and with C. ternatea presenting the most promising results in terms of chemical composition.O trabalho objetivou avaliar aspectos agronômicos e bromatológicos de nove leguminosas forrageiras herbáceas na zona da Mata Seca de Pernambuco. As leguminosas estudadas foram: Calopogonium mucunoides Desv, Clitoria ternatea L., Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. subsp. ovalifolium (Prain) Ohashi cv. Itabela, Arachis pintoi Krap e Greg. cv. Amarillo, Pueraria phaseoloides (Roxb.) Benth, Stylosanthes guianensis (Aubl.) Sw. cv. Bandeirante, cv. Cook e cv. Mineirão e Stylosanthes macrocephala Ferreira e Sousa Costa cv. Pioneiro. Foram avaliadas as seguintes variáveis: cobertura do solo, altura da planta, produção de matéria verde, stand, relação folha/caule, produção de sementes, teores de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), hemicelulose, celulose, lignina, proteína bruta (PB) e matéria mineral (MM) das folhas e caules. Foram realizados quatro cortes, sendo utilizada intensidade de 0 cm para o primeiro corte e 5 cm para os demais. O delineamento foi blocos casualizados com três repetições. A maior produção de MV acumulada foi de 45,6 t/ha/432 dias apresentada pela C. ternatea que também apresentou um dos maiores teores de PB, tanto para a folha (27,4%) quanto para o caule (11,5%). Aos 43 dias após o transplantio, o C. mucunoides foi a leguminosa que apresentou a maior porcentagem de solo coberto. Durante o período experimental (432 dias) não foi observado florescimento dos S. guianensis, enquanto que C. mucunoides, C. ternatea e S. macrocephala apresentaram maior potencial de produção de sementes. A. pintoi, C. ternatea e C. mucunoides mostraram grande potencial para produção de forragem nesta região, com a C. ternatea apresentando os resultados mais promissores quanto à composição química

Agentes Comunitários de Saúde: experiências e modelos do Brasil Community health agents: Brazilian experiences and models

O presente artigo é parte da tese de doutorado Perfil dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde da Região de Juiz de Fora-MG e apresenta o perfil dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde (ACS) sob a ótica das equipes de saúde da família, dos usuários e deles próprios. Discute os modelos e experiências sobre os ACS praticadas no Brasil antes da iniciativa do Ceará, na década de 80. Contextualiza os movimentos ocorridos para o sucesso da reforma dos ACS, que caracterizam um recurso humano central e estratégico para a implementação de ações de promoção da saúde, viabilizando o desenvolvimento de ações básicas voltadas para a comunidade. Demonstra que o agente comunitário de saúde constitui fator chave para viabilizar o apoio, a implementação e o desenvolvimento de ações básicas voltadas para a comunidade, de forma a expandi-las e a fortalecê-las em nível nacional, porém a promoção da saúde não concerne exclusivamente ao próprio setor e nem a um único profissional de saúde. Ela é resultado de ações intersetoriais, agindo nos determinantes gerais e da qualidade de vida.<br>This paper is part of the doctoral thesis Profile of Community Health Workers in the region of Juiz de Fora, MG, and presents a profile of Community Health Agents (CHA) from the perspective of family health teams, of users and themselves. It discusses the models and experiences on the CHA practiced in Brazil before the initiative of Ceará State, in the 1980's. It contextualizes the movements for the successful reform of the CHA, which characterize a central human resource and strategic for the implementation of health promotion actions, enabling the development of basic community-related actions. It shows that community health agents are a key factor to enable the support, implementation and development of basic community-related actions, to expand them and strengthen them nationwide, but health promotion concerns not only the sector itself nor a single health professional. It is the result of inter-sectoral actions acting in general and quality of life determinants

Profile Of The Use Of Disease Modifying Drugs In The Brazilian Registry Of Spondyloarthritides [perfil Do Uso De Drogas Modificadoras De Doença No Registro Brasileiro De Espondiloartrites]

Introduction: Few studies have evaluated the profile of use of disease modifying drugs (DMD) in Brazilian patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA). Methods: A common research protocol was applied prospectively in 1505 patients classified as SpA by criteria of the European Spondyloarthropathies Study Group (ESSG), followed at 29 referral centers in Rheumatology in Brazil. Demographic and clinical variables were obtained and evaluated, by analyzing their correlation with the use of DMDs methotrexate (MTX) and sulfasalazine (SSZ). Results: At least one DMD was used by 73.6 % of patients: MTX by 29.2 % and SSZ by 21.7%, while 22.7 % used both drugs. The use of MTX was significantly associated with peripheral involvement, and SSZ was associated with axial involvement, and the two drugs were more administered, separately or in combination, in the mixed involvement (p < 0.001). The use of a DMD was significantly associated with Caucasian ethnicity (MTX, p = 0.014), inflammatory back pain (SSZ, p = 0.002), buttock pain (SSZ, p = 0.030), neck pain (MTX, p = 0.042), arthritis of the lower limbs (MTX, p < 0.001), arthritis of the upper limbs (MTX, p < 0.001), enthesitis (p = 0.007), dactylitis (MTX, p < 0.001), inflammatory bowel disease (SSZ, p < 0.001) and nail involvement (MTX, p < 0.001). Levantamento malacológico da Bacia Hidrográfica do Lago Soledade, Ouro Branco, (Minas Gerais, Brasil) Malacological survey at the Soledade Lake, in Ouro Branco (Minas Gerais, Brazil)

Em estudo malacológico realizado na Bacia Hidrográfica do Lago Soledade, Ouro Branco, MG, no período de setembro de 1986 a março de 1991, foram coletados 46.579 moluscos, representados por 07 espécies de 05 famílias. Foram coletados 39.176 exemplares de Biomphalaria tenagophila, 1.296 de B. glabrata, sete exemplares de Drepanotrema cimex, 2.527 de Physa sp, 417 de Lymnaea sp, 92 de Pomacea haustrum e, a partir de março/1990, 3.064 exemplares de Melanoides tuberculata (Melanniidae = Thiaridae). Dos moluscos que apresentaram positividade para diversas larvas de trematódeos, quatro exemplares de B. tenagophila estavam positivos para S. mansoni.<br>A malacological survey was carried out at the Soledade Lake, in Ouro Branco, State of Minas Gerais, for the period 1986-1991. A total amount of 46,579 mollusks was collected, and among them seven species corresponding to five families could be found, as follows: 39,176 specimens of Biomphalaria tenagophila; 1,296 B. glabrata; 7 Drepanotrema cimex; 2,527 Physa sp; 417 Lymnaea sp; 92 Pomacea hastrum, and 3,064 specimens of Melanoides tuberculata (Melanniidae=Thiaridae) were collected from March/1990 onwards. Low Prevalence Of Renal, Cardiac, Pulmonary, And Neurological Extra-articular Clinical Manifestations In Spondyloarthritis: Analysis Of The Brazilian Registry Of Spondyloarthritis

Objective: To describe the extra-articular manifestations (cardiac, renal, pulmonary, and neurological), usually not related to spondyloarthritis (SpA), in a large cohort of Brazilian patients. Materials and methods: This retrospective study analyzed 1,472 patients diagnosed with SpA and cared for at 29 health care centers distributed in the five major geographic regions in the country, participating in the Brazilian Registry of Spondyloarthritis (BRS). All patients were assessed for the prevalence of major extra-articular manifestations (cardiac, renal, pulmonary, and neurological), classify ed according to the diagnosis [ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), reactive arthritis (ReA), arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), undifferentiated spondyloarthritis (uSpA), and juvenile SpA], and according to the clinical presentation (axial, peripheral, mixed, and enthesitis). Results: Of the patients with SpA assessed, 963 had AS, 271 PsA, 49 ReA, 48 arthritis associated with IBD, 98 uSpA, and 43 juvenile SpA. Cardiac involvement was reported in 44 patients (3.0%), pulmonary involvement in 19 (1.3%), renal involvement in 17 (1.2%), and neurological involvement in 13 patients (0.9%). Most patients with visceral involvement had AS or PsA, and the mixed (axial + peripheral) and/or predominantly axial clinical form. Conclusion: Cardiac, renal, pulmonary, and neurological extra-articular manifestations are quite infrequent in SpA, ranging from 0.9% to 3% in this large Brazilian cohort, and affected predominantly patients with AS and PsA. © 2012 Elsevier Editora Ltda.
