A novel locus for autosomal recessive primary microcephaly (MCPH6) maps to 13q12.2
Key points:
• Autosomal recessive primary microcephaly (MCPH) is a
genetic disorder in which an affected subject is born
with a head circumference >3 SD below the expected
mean and is mentally retarded.
• We report a novel locus (MCPH6) mapped to chromosome
13q12.2 in a Brazilian family.
• The minimal critical region spans 6 Mb between markers
AL139378GT17 and D13S1244 with a maximum
two point lod score of 6.25
Stability Of Gluten Free Sweet Biscuit Elaborated With Rice Bran, Broken Rice And Okara
A challenge to the food sector has been the development of new products incorporating co-products from the food processing industry with minimal impact on their pre-determined structures and adding nutritional quality. In order to add value and develop alternatives for the use of co-products generated during the agroindustrial processing, this work aimed to study the stability of gluten-free sweet biscuits developed with soybean okara, rice bran and broken rice. The formulations were elaborated with increasing percentages of these ingredients and compared with the standard (commercial sweet biscuit) for ten months. The analyses were: weight, diameters (internal and external), thickness, specific volume, instrumental parameters of color, texture, scanning electron microscopy, water activity, proximal composition and isoflavones. The experimental sweet biscuits had characteristics of color, weight, volume and diameters (internal and external) very similar to the commercial, whereas texture, lipids and energy value decreased, and aw, moisture and protein increased during storage. The sweet biscuits showed the same stability when compared to the standard, and the. © 2016 Sociedade Brasileira de Ciencia e Tecnologia de Alimentos, SBCTA. All rights reserved.36229630
Reguladores Vegetais E Sombreamento Na Emergência De Plântulas De Macadâmia
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulators and shading on seed germination of macadamia nut trees. The experiment was conducted in a seedling production nursery of the company "QueenNut Macadâmia" located in the "Palmeiras" Farm, Dois Córregos, São Paulo (SP) state, Brazil. The Treatments were T1: water (control) under a shading screen, T2: GA4+7 + N-(phenylmethyl)-aminopurine (Promalin®) at 200 mL L-1 under a shading screen, T3: Promalin® at 400 mL L-1 under a shading screen, T4: gibberellic acid (GA3) + kinetin (Kt) + 3- indolebutyric acid (IBA) - Stimulate® at 5 mL kg-1 seeds under a shading screen, T5: Stimulate® at 10 mL kg-1 of seeds under a shading screen, and T6: water (control) under no shading screen. Seeds were soaked in the solutions or in water containing plant growth regulators for 24 hours. Then, they were dried and sown in sand. 450 seeds were used for each treatment. The evaluations began from seedling emergence by counting the total number of seedlings per treatment. A high average of macadamia nut tree seedling emergence was obtained in the treatments GA4+7 + N-(phenylmethyl)-aminopurine (Promalin®) 400 mL L-1 with Sombrite® (75.7%), GA4+7 + N-(phenylmethyl)-aminopurine (Promalin®) 200 mL L-1 (72.6%) Sombrite® and water (control) without Sombrite® (71.5%). © 2016, Universidade Federal de Uberlandia. Eu Vo Lá Ontem, Papai! ― Experiência E Culturas Infantis: Reflexões Sobre Infância E Temporalidade Recursiva
This theoretical study aims to carry out similarities between the philosophical thoughts of Walter Benjamin and sociological reflections of Manuel Jacinto Sarmento about childhood, recursive temporality, childish experiences and cultures. For this, we divided our exposition into four sessions that aim: to highlight the childhood as historical category in the modernity; to present Benjamin’s look at the approach; to highlight the prospect through the Sarmento’s optical; Finally, to approximate the concepts. We consider that the main approximation between from both is to rethink the meaning of social dynamics and the relations of social actors in the contemporary time, so not only the meanings of childhood today, but the own human condition at the present time. © 2016, Centro de Estudos Educacao e Sociedade - CEDES. First Record Of Passiflora Pedata L. (passifloraceae) From Maranhão State, Northeastern Brazil
This study reports the first record of Passiflora pedata L. (Passifloraceae) from the state of Maranhão and from the Northeast Region of Brazil. The species was collected in the municipality of Buriticupu, which is located in a remnant of Amazon Forest in western Maranhão. This work adds to the knowledge of the flora of Maranhão and the distribution of P. pedata in the Brazilian Amazon. © 2016 Check List and Authors.12
Visual or spatial isolation in ruminants.
Livestock production in intensive systems has expanded the world, always agreeing to raise production levels and economic returns, respectively. This vertical integration of livestock has led to some adjustments in management and also on the premises, which has changed the behavior of animals, coming from both visual and spatial constraints of the individual. In dairy farming, the creation of calves in individual stalls is an example of vertical integration, thus making a common practice in many countries. Knowing that the cattle are social animals that show high willingness to form social bonds with other individuals of the same species, some agencies have implemented laws to ensure a minimum of comfort for these animals. A systematic study of social preferences of animals and the calming effects of different animal companion familiarity are needed to document the response to separation. The objective of this review, present and discuss the effect of spatial isolation and/or visual on the productive and behavioral responses of ruminant animals.
On Aharonov-Casher bound states
In this work bound states for the Aharonov-Casher problem are considered.
According to Hagen's work on the exact equivalence between spin-1/2
Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, is known that the
term cannot be neglected in the
Hamiltonian if the spin of particle is considered. This term leads to the
existence of a singular potential at the origin. By modeling the problem by
boundary conditions at the origin which arises by the self-adjoint extension of
the Hamiltonian, we derive for the first time an expression for the bound state
energy of the Aharonov-Casher problem. As an application, we consider the
Aharonov-Casher plus a two-dimensional harmonic oscillator. We derive the
expression for the harmonic oscillator energies and compare it with the
expression obtained in the case without singularity. At the end, an approach
for determination of the self-adjoint extension parameter is given. In our
approach, the parameter is obtained essentially in terms of physics of the
problem.Comment: 11 pages, matches published versio
