O Labirinto da Pós-Modernidade

O labirinto e a pós-modernidade. Por que eles? Crêmo-nos inseridos em um meio acadêmico, no qual estabelecemos pressupostos, métodos e objetivos a atingir. Hipótese, experiência e conclusão: atingiremos a verdade acerca de nosso tema ao fim do ensaio. Talvez não, nos diz a pós-modernidade. A escolha de um tema é sempre arbitrária, subjetiva e ao mesmo tempo conjuntural. Quando escolhemos um tema, é sempre preciso justificá-lo. A justificativa, porém, por mais precisa que seja, é sempre permeada por imprecisões. A própria ciência é apenas uma herança cultural, bem como seus parâmetros precisos, nenhum deles tão universal quanto gostaríamos de crer. Até mesmo nossa crença na verdade, a própria verdade, as maiores ficções que o Ocidente já criou. Na pós-modernidade, estamos lançados. Estamos lançados nesse labirinto de incertezas e imprecisões legado pelo insucesso da modernidade e seu projeto subjetivo humanista. Não há mais grandes relatos a guiar nosso caminho. Só nos restam as pequenas verdades, do conhecimento conjuntural e conjectural, hipotético, parcial. Descobrimos que a realidade é múltipla e o saber é meramente discursivo, que a realidade é mais múltipla do que nosso discurso pode comportar. Mas que multiplicidade será essa? Quais os caminhos lícitos no labirinto pósmoderno

A literatura entre os muros

A literatura e a educação: como pensar esses dois temas? O que são literatura e educação? Em diálogo com o filme Entre os muros da escola, de Laurent Cantet, e A literatura em perigo, de Todorov, buscamos redimensionar nossos questionamentos e posicionamentos contemporâneos em um breve passeio pelascorrentes críticas e pelos modelos de ensino de literatura na medida em que se relacionam ao percurso do pensamento e do entendimento da educação no Ocidente. Para isso, procuramos entender melhor qual era o projetosofista de cidade e de virtude e como ele se faz presente ainda hoje. Finalmente, nos perguntamos pela contribuição dessa formação para o crescimento do homem em seu caminho de vida e como é possível talvez trabalhar de maneira diferente

Fabrication of Microstructures on RB-SiC by Ultrasonic Cavitation Assisted Micro-Electrical Discharge Machining

Ultrasonic cavitation assisted micro-electrical discharge machining was used to fabricate microstructures on reaction-bonded silicon carbide. To aid the removal of debris from the machining gap and to obtain a good surface finish, carbon nanofibers were added into the dielectric fluid. The suspension of carbon nanofibers in the dielectric fluid and the cavitation bubble effect induced by the vibration of the dielectric fluid proved to be effective in reducing the deposition of tool material on the workpiece surface. The tool material deposition rate was found to be significantly affected by the vibration amplitude and the distance between the oscillator and the workpiece. With a hemispherical electrode and inclined workpiece, high accuracy micro-dimples could be obtained within a short time. A nanometer-level surface finish was successfully obtained on a hard-brittle RB-SiCmoldmaterial

GROUNDWATER CHARACTERISTICS IN JAKARTA AREA, INDONESIA

ABSTRACT In the Jakarta area (Indonesia), excessive groundwater pumping due to the rapidly increasing population has caused groundwater-related problems such as brackish water contamination in coastal areas and land subsidence. In this study, we adopted multiple hydrogeochemical techniques to understand groundwater characteristic in the Jakarta area. Although almost all groundwater existing in the Jakarta basin is recharged at similar elevations, the water quality and apparent residence time demonstrates a clear difference between the shallow and deep aquifers. Due to the rapid decrease in the groundwater potential in urban areas, we found that the seawater intrusion in shallow aquifer and the shallow and deep groundwaters are mixing, a conclusion confirmed by major ions, Br−:Cl− ratios and chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-12 analysis

Anastomotic recurrence after delta method

Delta-shaped anastomosis is nowadays an increasingly performed reconstruction method in laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for early gastric cancer. To date, anastomotic recurrence at the delta-shaped anastomotic site has not been reported. Surgery for this disease is more complicated than anastomotic recurrence at the site of conventional Billroth-I anastomosis. A 68-year-old female was referred to our institute with early gastric cancer on the posterior wall of the antrum. She underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with delta-shaped Billroth-I anastomosis. Follow-up gastrofiberscopy 16 months after the operation revealed suspected anastomotic recurrence, and gastric biopsy revealed signet-ring cell carcinoma. Open total gastrectomy with reconstruction with the Roux-en-Y method was performed. At the distal part of the previous anastomosis, an adequate length of the duodenum was dissected from the pancreas. Then, the duodenum was transected 3 cm distal to the anastomosis using a linear stapler. The patient recovered well and was discharged on postoperative day 14. The patient is alive without re-recurrence 3 years postoperatively. We successfully treated a patient with anastomotic recurrence of gastric cancer after delta-shaped anastomosis. Adequate resection of the duodenal stump was performed without any residual tumor or injury to the pancreas
