The course of experimental staphylococcus infection in albino mice during action of certain factors of space flight
A study was made of the effect of certain factors of space flight, acceleration and hypokinesia, on the course of experimental staphylococcus infection in mice. Combined action of hypokinesia and acceleration caused a marked depression of the phagocytic activity of leukocytes and formation of a considerable amount of alpha toxin
Topographic conditions of soil drainage of Vladimir Opolie
This article demonstrates an approach to digital mapping of soil drainage in Vladimir Opolie controlled by topographic conditions. Topographic conditions of the key area are described by a digital terrain model and morphometric parameters with resolution of 30 m. The variety of soil drainage is represented by soil survey data of the RSFSR Goskomzem, which includes 170 soil observations with morphological characteristic of the degree of soil hydromorphism. Linear combination of the most significant morphometric parameters is calculated by the means of canonical discriminant analysis. This combination also interpreted as topographically induced soil drainage explains 70% of spatial variation of soil hydromorphism. Scores above 0.5 relate to gray forest soils of well drained moraine-erosional plains, gently and steep slopes of valleys. Scores below 0.5 relate to gleyic grey forest soils of shallow slopes of plains, deep valleys and depressions with poor soil drainage conditions
SOIL-AGRO-ECOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE ARABLE LAND OF THE VALDAI UPLAND BASED ON THE GENERAL SURVEY
A methodical approach to the digital mapping of the arable lands area depending on their soil-agroecological and positional conditions is proposed. The approach was tested on a model plot located on the Valdai Upland with an area of 160 thousand ha. Small-scale agricultural development of the poorly dissected moraine plains is limited by the wide distribution of overmoistened soils. Using the traditional discriminant analysis, a measure of the topographically determined duration of soil overmoistening was calculated based on a comparison of the morphological diagnostics of water regime and topography runoff properties according to the grid elements of 30 Ă 30 m. The drainability range was determined for the arable lands of XVIII century, reconstructed according to the materials of the General Survey. This allowed us to determine the potential area of the arable lands for this period. The area of arable lands, which is characterized by favorable conditions of transport accessibility and soil drainability, was 12Â %. At the same time, reconstructed area contained 5Â %. In the subsistence economy of the XVIII century more than a half of the potential arable lands of the model region turned out to be undeveloped
Pattern of Laboratory Parameters and Management of Secondary Hyperparathyroidism in Countries of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America
Introduction
This analysis explored laboratory mineral and bone disorder parameters and management of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients undergoing hemodialysis in Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and the USA.
Methods
Analyses used demographic, medication, and laboratory data collected in the prospective Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (2012–2015). The analysis included 20,612 patients in 543 facilities. Descriptive data are presented as regional mean (standard deviation), median (interquartile range), or prevalence, weighted for facility sampling fraction. No testing of statistical hypotheses was conducted.
Results
The frequency of serum intact parathyroid hormone levels > 600 pg/mL was lowest in Japan (1%) and highest in Russia (30%) and Saudi Arabia (27%). The frequency of serum phosphorus levels > 7.0 mg/dL was lowest in France (4%), the UK (6%), and Spain (6%), and highest in China (27%). The frequency of serum calcium levels > 10.0 mg/dL was highest in the UK (14%) and China (13%) versus 2% to 9% elsewhere. Dialysate calcium concentrations of 2.5 mEq/mL were common in the USA (78%) and Canada (71%); concentrations of 3.0–3.5 mEq/L were almost universal at facilities in Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia (each 65 99%).
Conclusions
Wide international variation in mineral and bone disorder laboratory parameters and management practices related to secondary hyperparathyroidism suggests opportunities for optimizing care
High frequency magnetic oscillations of the organic metal -(ET)ZnBr(CHCl) in pulsed magnetic field of up to 81 T
De Haas-van Alphen oscillations of the organic metal
-(ET)ZnBr(CHCl) are studied in pulsed magnetic
fields up to 81 T. The long decay time of the pulse allows determining reliable
field-dependent amplitudes of Fourier components with frequencies up to several
kiloteslas. The Fourier spectrum is in agreement with the model of a linear
chain of coupled orbits. In this model, all the observed frequencies are linear
combinations of the frequency linked to the basic orbit and to the
magnetic-breakdown orbit .Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Segre Types of Symmetric Two-tensors in n-Dimensional Spacetimes
Three propositions about Jordan matrices are proved and applied to
algebraically classify the Ricci tensor in n-dimensional Kaluza-Klein-type
spacetimes. We show that the possible Segre types are [1,1...1], [21...1],
[31\ldots 1], [z\bar{z}1...1] and degeneracies thereof. A set of canonical
forms for the Segre types is obtained in terms of semi-null bases of vectors.Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX, replaced due to a LaTex erro
Differential Form Valued Forms and Distributional Electromagnetic Sources
Properties of a fundamental double-form of bi-degree for are
reviewed in order to establish a distributional framework for analysing
equations of the form where
is the Hodge-de Rham operator on forms on .
Particular attention is devoted to singular distributional solutions that arise
when the source is a singular form distribution. A constructive
approach to Dirac distributions on (moving) submanifolds embedded in is developed in terms of (Leray) forms generated by the geometry of the
embedding. This framework offers a useful tool in electromagnetic modeling
where the possibly time dependent sources of certain physical attributes, such
as electric charge, electric current and polarization or magnetization, are
concentrated on localized regions in space.Comment: 40 page
