WP Case study - Intelligent integrated decision support for legal professionalsThe objective of this document is to study the determining factors that exist in thelegal domain in Spain that can affect the achievement of a successful application in the Legal Case Study in the SEKT project. To do this, several surveys are presented, such as a user analysis, a domain analysis,a requirements analysis,a state of the art on legal applications anda state of the art on legal ontologie

Inconsistent ontology diagnosis: framework and prototype

    Get PDF
Deliverable D3.6.1(WP3.6)In this document, we present a framework for inconsistent ontology diagnosis and repair by defining a number of new non-standard reasoning services to explain inconsistencies through pinpointing. We developed two different types of algorithms for the framework, and we describe these algorithms in some detail. Both algorithms have been prototypically implemented as the DION (Debugger of Inconsistent ONtologies) and MUPStersystem. The first implements a bottom-up approach to calculate pinpoints by the support of an external DL reasoner, the second using a specialised tableau-based calculus

WP8 Usability and Business BenchmarkingThe procedures and results of the user tests and validation of the SEKT case study applications are described. Tests with representatives of the future user population of the BT digital library application, and of the IURISERVICE application were conducted. The results show that users are highly positive about the expected benefit of the SEKT enabled applications, as compared to their traditional tools available to them now. We see decisive performance increases as well as improvements in the quality of the information obtained in the search process. On the basis of these results we can state with confidence that the addition of SEKT functionality will be welcomed by users and will produce significant benefits

D4.6.1.1 Report on ontology mediation for case studies v.1

WP4 Ontology Mediation ReportThe aim of this deliverable is to identify the requirements for mediation for the SEKT casestudies. The data sources from each case study are investigated together with the relationships between them and with the scenarios in which two or more of these data sources are used in conjunction, i.e. where data integration is needed. The requirements for mediation are identified based on these scenarios. We should note that as a result of our analysis we identified the opportunity of some architectural changes for two of the casestudies. The new data source landscapes proposed together with guidelines about different mediation approaches should serve as a pillar for the further development of thecase studies. Also the identified requirements show that the main mediation functionality on which the tools developed by the WP4 should focus on is ontology alignment

    Reasoning with multi-version ontologies: evaluation

Deliverable D3.5.2(WP3.5)In this document, we present an evaluation of the Multi-version Ontology Reasoning system MORE. The framework of MORE is developed based on a temporal logic approach. We take multiple versions of the legal ontology OPJK, one of the case studies in the SEKT project, as the test data set to test the prototype of the multi-version ontology reasoning system MORE, by which we investigate and evaluate the applicability of the system

D12.5.5 Exploitation strategies for the Spanish legal market

WP12 Exploitation and disseminationThis deliverable describes results from market research in Spanish law firms, including an overview of competitor's analysis and a definition of the requirements and functionalities of the proposed product. Market analysis covers both statistic analysis from external sources and qualitative data from fieldwork research developed within the framework of the SEKT project (forty in-depth interviews with lawyers in large, medium, and small law firms). The results show that there is an emerging market for Semantic Web technology in the legal domain, notably in the areas of e-mail management (i. e. intelligent search, inbound business scan, outbound content compliance). Despite the competition being fierce in the e-mail management marketplace, the need for intelligent search and content compliance beyond current archiving methods also reveals a clear opportunity to exploit SEKT technologies commercially

WP10 Case Study: Intelligent integrated decision support for legal professionals. Report PUThe aim of this document is to offer an overview of the work done during the first year of the research by the UAB legal team and the iSOCO engineers. The cooperation between the two teams has producedthe following results: (i) a reliable description of the Spanish and judicial contexts, stemming from 2004 surveys and field research at the court settings; (ii) a reliable description of the content of Spanish Legal databases; (iii) a preliminary textual analysis onlegal discourse findings; (iv) definition and epistemological bases for Ontologies of Professional Legal Knowledge(OPLK); (v) knowledge acquisition and ontology building of Iuriservice II(second prototype of an iFAQ assistant for judges attheir first appointment); (vi) use cases and software architecturedesign for the legal case study prototype, using NLP techniques, ontology models and ontology merging

WP10 Case Study: Intelligent integrated decision support for legal professionalsThe aim of this deliverable is to describe the status of Legal Case Study Prototype at the end of the second year of the project. This document introduces the work done by iSOCO engineers and the UAB team, in collaboration with the JSI team. The cooperation between these teams has produced the following results: (i) the evolution of the Expert System from its preliminary version, introducing: TextGarden technology for domain detection, semantic distance technology (developed by iSOCO) for matching, integration plan with other SEKT technology (Visualization, KAON 2, GATE, TextGarden), ontology evolution, measurement plan; (ii) the description of Jurisprudence System scenarios; (iii) Legal Case Study Prototype integration in SEKT (SIP and SEKT technology), (iv) ontology generation and the Legal Case Study (Question Topic Ontology and Judicial Topic Ontology), (v) some effectiveness and efficiency measurements of current Prototype version; (vi) next steps of Prototype
