    Get PDF
AbstractConsidering the change of material behavior in in-service component due to temperature, loading and irradiation, several micro-specimen techniques have been proposed to describe deformation and fracture behaviors of materials under different conditions. This paper investigates the mechanical characterization of materials by the experimental and numerical method of small punch test. A two-dimensional finite element model was established to simulate the deformation behavior of X80. The resulting Load-Displacement curve contains key information about the mechanical properties of the tested materials. Thus, an application of inverse finite element method was used in the investigation of mechanical properties of materials which have been tested by small punch test. The difference between experiment and simulation curves was defined as objective function based upon the calculation model established by ABAQUS and MATLAB procedure. Finally, the estimated results suggested confidence in the analysis of the inverse finite element method for material's yield strength

The goal of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using Total Physical Method in teaching English Basic Skills for kindergarten students, especially in Docto Rabbit Kindergarten School, Telaga Golf, Sawangan, Depok. The method used is quantitative method and to analyze the data, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Scientist) 16 regarding T-Test is used.  The finding of this study is the fact that using Total Physical Response method is effective in teaching English basic skills for young learners because it suit with their characters. TPR method, developed by Dr. James Asher tries to introduce some language skills in an action in which a teacher serves three roles: an order taker, a model provider, and an action monitor in which learners serve as models and action performers until they feel ready to speak out and enjoy studying English. Key words: young learners, total physical response (TPR), English Basic Skill

    History effect in inhomogeneous superconductors

A model was proposed to account for a new kind of history effect in the transport measurement of a sample with inhomogeneous flux pinning coupled with flux creep. The inhomogeneity of flux pinning was described in terms of alternating weak pinning (lower jc) and strong pinning region (higher jc). The flux creep was characterized by logarithmic barrier. Based on this model, we numerically observed the same clockwise V-I loops as reported in references. Moreover, we predicted behaviors of the V-I loop at different sweeping rates of applied current dI/dt or magnetic fields Ba, etc. Electric transport measurement was performed in Ag-sheathed Bi2-xPbxSr2Ca2Cu3Oy tapes immersed in liquid nitrogen with and without magnetic fields. V-I loop at certain dI/dt and Ba was observed. It is found that the area of the loop is more sensitive to dI/dt than to Ba, which is in agreement well with our numerical results.Comment: To appear in Phys Rev B, October 1 Issu

Longitudinal broadening of near side jets due to parton cascade

Longitudinal broadening along Δη\Delta\eta direction on near side in two-dimensional (Î”Ï•Ă—Î”Î·\Delta\phi \times \Delta\eta) di-hadron correlation distribution has been studied for central Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV, within a dynamical multi-phase transport model. It was found that the longitudinal broadening is generated by a longitudinal flow induced by strong parton cascade in central Au+Au collisions, in comparison with p+p collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV. The longitudinal broadening may shed light on the information about strongly interacting partonic matter at RHIC.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures; accepted by Eur. Phys. J.

This study aims to describe: (1) a form of inner conflict in the character Louisa Clark in the novel me before you by Jojo Moyes; (2) the factors underlying the inner conflict of Louisa's character in the novel me before you and (3) the form of resolving inner conflicts in my novel before you. The data source for this research is the novel Me Before You by Jojo Moyes with page number 264. The technique of collecting data is by reading and taking notes, while data analysis is done by heuristic-hermeneutic techniques. The validity of the data is taken from semantic validity and intrarater reliability and interrater reliability. The results of this study are as follows. The manifestation of the inner conflict of Louisa Clark's character includes the choice not as desired, hesitation in the problem, and finally the hope is not in accordance with reality. From the research shows that the problems experienced by Louisa's character in the novel me before you are dominated by the existence of Id rather than the ego. The dominance of the id rather than the ego which caused Louisa to experience inner conflict, and the form of inner conflict that was most dominant in Louisa was in the hesitation in facing problems. (2) factors underlying the inner conflict of Louisa Clark's character in the novel Me Before You include internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include self-hatred, anxiety about the future and envy of the life of his sister Trenaa. External factors include less supportive environmental factors, sympathy from Mrs. Traynor and betrayal of the closest person. Of the two factors that were the most influential as the cause of the emergence of inner conflict Louisa was an external factor, (3) the form of resolution of inner conflicts experienced by Louisa Clark in the novel Me Before You which includes sublimation, projection, and rationalization. The settlement form most often done by Louisa is a form of repressio

Theoretical study of the two-proton halo candidate 17^{17}Ne including contributions from resonant continuum and pairing correlations

With the relativistic Coulomb wave function boundary condition, the energies, widths and wave functions of the single proton resonant orbitals for 17^{17}Ne are studied by the analytical continuation of the coupling constant (ACCC) approach within the framework of the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory. Pairing correlations and contributions from the single-particle resonant orbitals in the continuum are taken into consideration by the resonant Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) approach, in which constant pairing strength is used. It can be seen that the fully self-consistent calculations with NL3 and NLSH effective interactions mostly agree with the latest experimental measurements, such as binding energies, matter radii, charge radii and densities. The energy of π\pi2s1/2_{1/2} orbital is slightly higher than that of π1d5/2\pi1d_{5/2} orbital, and the occupation probability of the (π(\pi2s1/2)2_{1/2})^2 orbital is about 20%, which are in accordance with the shell model calculation and three-body model estimation

The Girl On The Train is a psychological thriller novel that is created by Paula Hawkins. Rachel’s character at the story is described as someone who is very depressed and bad-girl looks. The writer is interested to analyze Rachel’s depression because she is described as a complex characters and her act was confusing for the readers. The purposes of the study are: 1) to analyze the characteristics of Rachel 2 seen from psychoanalytic perspective; 2) to explain the symptoms of depression of Rachel in this novel; 3) to describe how the depression of Rachel in this novel is. The writer applies the qualitative research method in conducting the research. The primary data source of the study is “The Girl On The Train” novel by Paula Hawkins. Documentation, library, browsing method, and notes taking techniques are method to collect the data. Analysis of the data uses the descriptive qualitative technique about collecting the data, reducing, displaying, than verifying and conclusion. The result of study shows that: 1) The dominant character psychoanalitic of Rachel in the The Girl On The Train novel is Id. She has a dominant id because she only follows her own desires without considering the morals and norms that exist in the society. Rachel just followed her own desire even it is not acceptable in her society. Rachel’s Id always wanted to take a drunk; 2) The symptoms of depression by Rachel in The Girl On The Train novel are: have low self-esteem, tiredness or lack of energy, and going to be hopelessness. These symptoms headed for Dysthymia type of depression. Dysthymia is a mood disorder consisting of the same cognitive and physical problems as depression, with less severe but longer-lasting symptoms. Dysthymia is less acute and severe than major depressive disorder; 3) The portrayal of depression by Rachel’s character are shown from: First, Rachel started to depression when she cannot get pregnant and she is divorced by her husband. Second, she becomes poor and homeless woman and she loses control in her life. Third, she becomes an alcoholic woman with an overactive imagination. Fourth, she becomes a woman who gets personality disorder with a blackout and shoddy memory
