    Bij complexe problemen waarbij het individuele belang op gespannen voet staat met het natuurbelang, wordt vaak gekozen voor een interactief proces. Toch blijkt in de Nationaal Landschap de Drentsche Aa dat dit niet zaligmakend is, zeker niet als de doelen van tevoren al vastliggen. Pogingen om in een Overlegorgaan tot een gezamenlijke toekomstvisie te komen van natuur en landbouw, liepen hopeloos vast. Uit ons onderzoek naar het planproces bleek dat oud zeer daarbij zeker een rol speelde. Maar ook is duidelijk dat interactieve processen alleen werken als er ruimte is om samen over de doelen en de problemen te onderhandelen. Verder blijkt het heel belangrijk dat de onderhandelaars in zo’n overlegorgaan nauw contact houden met hun achterban. Tenslotte is het van groot belang dat de verschillende soorten beleid waarin het gebiedsproces is ingebed goed is afgestemd

    Intermolecular reactions in and on icy films on silicate and carbonaceous grains constitute a major route for the formation of new molecular constituents in interstellar molecular clouds. In more diffuse regions and in protoplanetary discs, energetic radiation can trigger reaction routes far from thermal equilibrium. As an analog of interstellar icecovered dust grains, highly oriented pyrolytic graphite HOPG covered with D2O, NO, and H atoms is irradiated by ultrashort XUV pulses and the desorbing ionic and neutral products are analysed.     Human Behavior in the Context of Continuous Change - An Exploratory Analysis in a Research and Application Center Industry 4.0

    The modern world of work is characterized by discontinuity and innovation. Organizations must adapt to continuous change, which makes it crucial to manage organizational knowledge. Learning and forgetting processes are necessary to react successfully to the changes. On the individual level, this means that individuals have to adapt their behavior, which is often well-learned and routinized. This study aims to take a first step toward a more detailed understanding of human behavior in the context of continuous change. For this purpose, an exploratory analysis was conducted on data collected in a Research and Application Center Industry 4.0. The participants had to deal with the continuous change of routine actions in a simulated production environment, which enabled us to measure their adaptation errors. The occurrence of adaptation errors, their dependency on the type of change, and the behavioral patterns are discussed in detail. Implications for further research are derived

    Hopping Transport in the Presence of Site Energy Disorder: Temperature and Concentration Scaling of Conductivity Spectra

    Recent measurements on ion conducting glasses have revealed that conductivity spectra for various temperatures and ionic concentrations can be superimposed onto a common master curve by an appropriate rescaling of the conductivity and frequency. In order to understand the origin of the observed scaling behavior, we investigate by Monte Carlo simulations the diffusion of particles in a lattice with site energy disorder for a wide range of both temperatures and concentrations. While the model can account for the changes in ionic activation energies upon changing the concentration, it in general yields conductivity spectra that exhibit no scaling behavior. However, for typical concentrations and sufficiently low temperatures, a fairly good data collapse is obtained analogous to that found in experiment.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

    Ionization dynamics in expanding clusters studied by XUV pump probe spectroscopy

    he expansion and disintegration dynamics of xenon clusters initiated by the ionization with femtosecond soft x ray extreme ultraviolet XUV pulses were studied with pump probe spectroscopy using the autocorrelator setup of the Free Electron LASer in Hamburg FLASH facility. The ionization by the first XUV pulse of 92 eV photon energy 8 1012 W cm amp; 8722;2 leads to the generation of a large number of quasi free electrons trapped by the space charge of the cluster ions. A temporally delayed, more intense probe 4 1013 W cm amp; 8722;2 pulse substantially increases a population of nanoplasma electrons providing a way of probing plasma states in the expanding cluster by tracing the average charge of fragment ions. The results of the study reveal a timescale for cluster expansion and disintegration, which depends essentially on the initial cluster size.     Channel diffusion of sodium in a silicate glass

    We use classical molecular dynamics simulations to study the dynamics of sodium atoms in amorphous Na2_2O-4SiO2_2. We find that the sodium trajectories form a well connected network of pockets and channels. Inside these channels the motion of the atoms is not cooperative but rather given by independent thermally activated hops of individual atoms between the pockets. By determining the probability that an atom returns to a given starting site, we show that such events are not important for the dynamics of this system.Comment: 10 pages of Latex, 5 figures, one figure added, text expande

    Factors Affecting European Farmers’Participation in Biodiversity Policies

    This article reports the major findings from an interdisciplinary research project that synthesises key insights into farmers’ willingness and ability to co-operate with biodiversity policies. The results of the study are based on an assessment of about 160 publications and research reports from six EU member states and from international comparative research.We developed a conceptual framework to systematically review the existent literature relevant for our purposes. This framework provides a common structure for analysing farmers’ perspectives regarding the introduction into farming practices of measures relevant to biodiversity. The analysis is coupled and contrasted with a survey of experts. The results presented above suggest that it is important to view support for practices oriented towards biodiversity protection not in a static sense – as a situation determined by one or several influencing factors – but rather as a process marked by interaction. Financial compensation and incentives function as a necessary, though clearly not sufficient condition in this process

    A hard x ray split and delay unit for the HED experiment at the European XFEL

    For the High Energy Density HED experiment [1] at the European XFEL [2] an x ray split and delay unit SDU is built covering photon energies from 5 keV up to 20 keV [3]. This SDU will enable time resolved x ray pump x ray probe experiments [4,5] as well as sequential diffractive imaging [6] on a femtosecond to picosecond time scale. Further, direct measurements of the temporal coherence properties will be possible by making use of a linear autocorrelation [7,8]. The set up is based on geometric wavefront beam splitting, which has successfully been implemented at an autocorrelator at FLASH [9]. The x ray FEL pulses are split by a sharp edge of a silicon mirror coated with multilayers. Both partial beams will then pass variable delay lines. For different photon energies the angle of incidence onto the multilayer mirrors will be adjusted in order to match the Bragg condition. For a photon energy of h amp; 957; 20 keV a grazing angle of amp; 952; 0.57 has to be set, which results in a footprint of the beam 6 amp; 963; on the mirror of l 98 mm. At this photon energy the reflectance of a Mo B4C multi layer coating with a multilayer period of d 3.2 nm and N 200 layers amounts to R 0.92. In order to enhance the maximum transmission for photon energies of h amp; 957; 8 keV and below, a Ni B4C multilayer coating can be applied beside the Mo B4C coating for this spectral region. Because of the different incidence angles, the path lengths of the beams will differ as a function of wavelength. Hence, maximum delays between 2.5 ps at h amp; 957; 20 keV and up to 23 ps at h amp; 957; 5 keV will be possibl
