Rare top decay and CP violation in THDM
We discuss the formalism of two Higgs doublet model type III with CP
violation from CP-even CP-odd mixing in the neutral Higgs bosons. The flavor
changing interactions among neutral Higgs bosons and fermions are presented at
tree level in this type of model. These assumptions allow the study rare top
decays mediated by neutral Higgs bosons, particularly we are interested in
. For this process we estimated upper bounds of the
branching ratios of the order of
for a neutral Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV and
, 1.5, 2, 2.5. For the case of the
number of possible events is estimated from 1 to 10 events which could be
observed in future experiments at LHC with a luminosity of 300
and 14 GeV for the energy of the center of mass. Also we
estimate that the number of events for the process in
different scenarios is of order of .Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Neutrino masses and mixing parameters in a left-right model with mirror fermions
In this work we consider a left-right model containing mirror fermions with
gauge group SU(3). The model has several free parameters which here we have
calculated by using the recent values for the squared-neutrino mass
differences. Lower bound for the mirror vacuum expectation value helped us to
obtain crude estimations for some of these parameters. Also we estimate the
order of magnitude of the masses of the standard and mirror neutrinos.Comment: 13 pages, version submitted to European Physical Journal
On Clifford representation of Hopf algebras and Fierz identities
We present a short review of the action and coaction of Hopf algebras on
Clifford algebras as an introduction to physically meaningful examples. Some
q-deformed Clifford algebras are studied from this context and conclusions are
derived.Comment: 27 pages, Latex2e, to appear in Found. of Phy
Hestenes' Tetrad and Spin Connections
Defining a spin connection is necessary for formulating Dirac's bispinor
equation in a curved space-time. Hestenes has shown that a bispinor field is
equivalent to an orthonormal tetrad of vector fields together with a complex
scalar field. In this paper, we show that using Hestenes' tetrad for the spin
connection in a Riemannian space-time leads to a Yang-Mills formulation of the
Dirac Lagrangian in which the bispinor field is mapped to a set of Yang-Mills
gauge potentials and a complex scalar field. This result was previously proved
for a Minkowski space-time using Fierz identities. As an application we derive
several different non-Riemannian spin connections found in the literature
directly from an arbitrary linear connection acting on Hestenes' tetrad and
scalar fields. We also derive spin connections for which Dirac's bispinor
equation is form invariant. Previous work has not considered form invariance of
the Dirac equation as a criterion for defining a general spin connection
Use of sonic tomography to detect and quantify wood decay in living trees.
Premise of the studyField methodology and image analysis protocols using acoustic tomography were developed and evaluated as a tool to estimate the amount of internal decay and damage of living trees, with special attention to tropical rainforest trees with irregular trunk shapes. Methods and resultsLiving trunks of a diversity of tree species in tropical rainforests in the Republic of Panama were scanned using an Argus Electronic PiCUS 3 Sonic Tomograph and evaluated for the amount and patterns of internal decay. A protocol using ImageJ analysis software was used to quantify the proportions of intact and compromised wood. The protocols provide replicable estimates of internal decay and cavities for trees of varying shapes, wood density, and bark thickness.ConclusionsSonic tomography, coupled with image analysis, provides an efficient, noninvasive approach to evaluate decay patterns and structural integrity of even irregularly shaped living trees
