Hoffa’s fat pad tumours like: Results of the arthroscopic resection

we performed a retrospective cohort study to increase awareness in  orthopaedic community of this rare but interesting disease which is oftenmisdiagnosed as meniscal pathology and to analyze present results of arthroscopic resection in seven patients. we retrospectively reviewed recordsfrom 2008-2012 and identified 7 patients with symptomatic Hoffa's fat pad impingement. The diagnosis was made by clinical exam, MRI imaging and verified arthroscopically. Of the 7 patients 2 were excluded due to receiving open resection. The remaining five underwent arthroscopic resection. Lysholm and American knee society scores were obtained pre and post operative and at final follow up. There was a significant improvement in their symptoms and function after the surgery at an average follow-up of 14 months. The one poor result was because of paresthesia over the distribution of the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve after open resection. tumours like of the fat pad should be treated by arthroscopic resection because of less residual pain and less complication was found using arthroscopy. In case of high volume of tumours only open excision can provide complete excision

The notion of H-IFS -an approach for enhancing query capabilities in Oracle10g

Query answering requirements for a knowledge based treatment of user requests led us to introduce the concept of closure of an Intuitionistic fuzzy set over a universe that has a hierarchical structure. We introduce the automatic analysis of queries according to concepts defined as part of a knowledge based hierarchy in order to guide the query answering as part of an integrated database environment with the aid of hierarchical Intuitionistic fuzzy sets, H-IFS. In this paper based on the notion of H-IFS we propose an ad-hoc utility build on top of Oracle10g that allows us to enhance the query capabilities of by providing better and knowledgeable answers to user’s requests. The theoretical aspects as well the practical issues and achieved results are presented throughout the rest of the paper

Spatio-Temporal Land-Cover Change Analysis of the Imo River Estuarine Wetlands and its Implication on the Mangrove Ecosystem

Land-cover in coastal areas determines to an extent the degree its surrounding water bodies differ from their pristine nature. Change mapping within coastal wetlands especially in areas prone to anthropogenic activities will help protect these fragile habitats. A land-cover change analysis was carried out on the Imo River estuary covering about 724 hectares of the estuarine wetlands, using 3 satellite images of the area acquired from Landsat 5TM (1986), Landsat 7 ETM (2000) and Landsat 8 OLI (2016) for a period of 30 years. Results showed that mangrove vegetation decreased by 17.5%, crop and grassland increased by 17% while total coverage of settlements increased by 3.4%. This implies that mangrove vegetation has significantly depleted over time and if this trend is not checked could lead to increase siltation of the river through runoff as a result of deforestation. There is also a likelihood of increase waste discharge directly or indirectly into the river by neighboring communities. It is recommended that proper waste management practices be adopted to suit urban growth within these communities and constant monitoring should be carried out using high resolution images to monitor coastal wetlands to protect fishes and other endangered species

Motor Capabilities of Lower Limb Amputated Patients and Its Relation to Body Image and Depression

Background: Lower limb amputation is a great event in the life of individual’s which having an counteractive effect on overall physical, psychological and social functioning of an individual so the study aim is to measure relation of motor capabilities of lower limb amputated patients on body image and depression level. Methods: Design: The descriptive correctional research design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Sample: A convenient sample of sixty four participant consisted of male and female adult amputee patients. Setting: This study was conducted in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Department at Minia University Hospital. Tools of data collection: Three scales and one tool were utilized; Bio socio-demographic characteristic and structured interview, Locomotor Capabilities Index, Amputee Body Image Scale and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scale. Results: 73.5% of the amputated patients have low locomotor capabilities while 93.7% of the study sample has a low body image and 31.2% of the study sample suffers from moderate depression after 6 month from amputation and high positive significant correlation between locomotor capabilities and body image, while that there was a high negative significant correlation between locomotor capabilities and depression level among the imputed patients. Conclusions: The recent amputee patients that are have lower limb prosthesis suffer from low locomotor capabilities and theses have negative impact on their body image and depression level. Recommendation: A well planned structured rehabilitation program should be done to the specific needs of people with limb amputation in order to be able to find out its impact on their functional abilities, body image and depression level. Effect of using Imported and Local Premixes on some Blood Parameters of Broiler

    أجريت هذه الدراسة لبيان تأثير استعمال مخاليط علفية مسبقة التحضير (Premix) خلطت مكوناتها محلياً وبتراكيز مختلفة (واطئ وقياسي وعالٍ) بنوعيه الممتاز (يستعمل في عليقتي البادئ والنامي) والعادي ويستعمل في عليقة الناهي كبديل عن المخلوط الأجنبي (بروفيمي، الممتاز والعادي) ومقارنة تأثيراتها في بعض المعايير الدمية لفروج اللحم.     استعمل في البحث 120 فرخاً من افراخ اللحم من سلالة روز 308 بعمر يوم واحد وزعت عشوائياً على اربع معاملات متساوية  احتوت كل معاملة على 30 فرخاً وبواقع مكررين لكل معاملة (15 فرخاً / مكرر). غذيت الافراخ على علائق التجربة اعتماداً المراحل العمرية للأفراخ (عليقة البادئ والنامي والناهي) والتي خلط فيها 2.5 % من أحد البريمكسات قيد التجريب  وكانت كالاتي :     المعاملة الأولى (T1) خلط فيها البريمكس الأجنبي والمستورد علامة بروفيمي أما المعاملات الأخرى T2 و T3 و T4 فقد خلط فيها علائق البريمكس المحلي الصنع والخلط وبثلاثة تراكيز (واطئ وقياسي وعالٍ) على التوالي،اجرى تكوين العلائق وخلط البريمكسات في معامل اعلاف ومختبر غدير بابل في قضاء المحاويل بأستعمال البرنامج الألكتروني الحديث البيست مكس (Best Mix) اصدار 2018، وفقاً لاحتياجات الطيور سلالة روز 308 بأعتماد الدليل الخاص بها أصدار 2014. جمعت عينات دم من الافراخ من جميع المعاملات بعمر 28 و 33 يوماً لغرض تقدير بعض المعايير الدمية. اشارت نتائج البحث الى وجود اختلافات معنوية (p<0.05) بين المعاملات في تراكيز خضاب الدم وعدد الخلايا اللمفية والبروتين الكلي وكلوكوز الدم وبمعنوية عالية (p<0.01) في تركيزي انزيمات الكبد ALP وAST بينما لم تحصل اختلافات في معايير الدم الاخرى مثل مكداس الدم وعدد الخلايا المتغايرة ونسبة الخلايا المتغايرة الى الخلايا اللمفية.     وسجلت افضل النتائج لصالح T4 (البريمكس المحلي ذو التركيز العالي) في معظم معايير الدم المدروسة لكلا السحبتين (يوم 28 و 33 من عمر الأفراخ)  سواءً الخلوية او الكيموحيوية ثم T1 (البريمكس المستورد البروفيمي)، أما ادنى المستويات المتشابهة فقد تميزت بها T2 و T3 اي البريمكس المحلي ذات التركيز الواطئ والقياسي على التوالي.   This study had been conducted to investigate the effect of using premix that been locally mixed by different concentrations (Low , Standard and high) of excellent quality (used in starter and grower rations) and normal which is used in the finisher as alternative for foreign premix (provimi , excellent and normal) with comparison of their effect on some blood parameters of broilers. Total number of 120, one day old broiler chicks , Ross 308 were allotted randomly on 4 equal treatments , each treatment included 30 chicks and each treatment included 2 replicates (15 chick/ replicate). Chicks fed on rations according to ages of chicks (starter, grower and finisher) in which 2.5 % of one premix added in the experiment which were as follow :      Treatment 1 (T1) in which the foreign premix was mixed as an imported one, provimi. Meanwhile, the other treatments T2 , T3 and T4 in which the local premix was mixed by 3 concentrations (low, standard and high) respectively.     Mixing and preparation of rations was done in Al – Ghadder laboratory and factory in Al – Mahweel/ Babylon by depending on Best mix program, 2018 according to birds requirement, Ross 308 by a special manual 2014. Blood samples were collected from birds at 28 and 33 days in all treatments.         Results revealed significant variations (P<0.05) between treatments in hemoglobin , lymphocyte numbers, total protein and blood glucose with a highly significant effect (P<0.01) for liver enzymes which include AST and ALT.      Meanwhile, there were no variation in other blood parameter such as PCV, numbers of Heterophils  and Heterophils / Lymphocyts ratio.      The best results were recoded for T4 (local premix of high concentrations) in most of studied blood parameters for both two blood collections (28 and 33 days of age of chicks). Which were cellular or biochemical then T1 (provimi imported premix). The lowest similar levels were characterized by T2 and T3 which were local premix, low and standard respectively

Magnetism of Two Coupled Harmonic Oscillators

The thermodynamical properties of a system of two coupled harmonic oscillators in the presence of an uniform magnetic field B are investigated. Using an unitary transformation, we show that the system can be diagonalized in simple way and then obtain the energy spectrum solutions. These will be used to determine the thermodynamical potential in terms of different physical parameters like the coupling parameter \alpha. This allows us to give a generalization of already significant published work and obtain different results, those could be used to discuss the magnetism of the system. Different limiting cases, in terms of \alpha and B, have been discussed. In fact, quantum corrections to the Landau diamagnetism and orbital paramagnetism are found.Comment: 25 page
