The digital age drives change in many sectors of life. In this age, correspondence between two continents happens immediately, and knowledge is exchanged and expended rapidly. Teachers as a focal figure in the realm of instruction are required to redress and even decipher these progressions as a methods for facilitating students to secure the 21st century capabilities. In any case, actually, a large number of teachers are hesitant to connect with these changes, particularly those related with the utilization of innovation in instruction and learning. In some developing countries, for example, Indonesia, a great deal of teachers are frustrated with the digital gap, less expertise in applying technology, limited supporting infrastructure, and students’ age variation. This article investigates the impact of short training on digital technology use in education to 29 primary teachers in Jakarta, Indonesia. The training course includes the introduction of the materials on digital learning, followed by assignment of looking for learning resources on the web, and an essay writing as the assessment to finish of the program. The observations and interviews with 7 respondents showed that the activity of the training improved the teachers’ digital literacy, especially in the utilization of technology in education.

    Get PDF

Effects of the size of cosmological N-Body simulations on physical quantities -- I: Mass Function

N-Body simulations are a very important tool in the study of formation of large scale structures. Much of the progress in understanding the physics of galaxy formation and comparison with observations would not have been possible without N-Body simulations. Given the importance of this tool, it is essential to understand its limitations as ignoring these can easily lead to interesting but unreliable results. In this paper we study the limitations due to the finite size of the simulation volume. We explicitly construct the correction term arising due to a finite box size and study its generic features for clustering of matter and also on mass functions. We show that the correction to mass function is maximum near the scale of non-linearity, as a corollary we show that the correction to the number density of haloes of a given mass changes sign at this scale; the number of haloes at small masses is over estimated in simulations. This over estimate results from a delay in mergers that lead to formation of more massive haloes. The same technique can be used to study corrections to other physical quantities. The corrections are typically small if the scale of non-linearity is much smaller than the box-size. However, there are some cases of physical interest in which the relative correction term is of order unity even though a simulation box much larger than the scale of non-linearity is used. Within the context of the concordance model, our analysis suggests that it is very difficult for present day simulations to resolve mass scales smaller than 100 solar masses accurately and the level of difficulty increases as we go to even smaller masses, though this constraint does not apply to multi-scale simulations.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure, MNRAS format. Durian (durio zibethinus) is a tropical plant which is included in the family Malvaceae. The durian flesh is consumed and the durian seed are waste. The purpose of this study was to process durian seeds as raw material for bioethanol production and to determine the levels of ethanol produced from the durian seeds. Fermentation process in this study was conducted using yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae, NPK and urea fertilizers as the starters. After the starters were incubated for two days, then added to the samples and fermented for 5, 8, 11 and 14 days and then distilled. After distilled, the measured ethanol yield, the reaction, with sodium, water dissolued, gravity, and ethanol pH produced. The results showed that fermentation for 5 days derived ethanol content of l5.15%, density 1.08 g/mL, and the pH 3.35. Fermentation for 8 days derived ethanol content of 4.67%, density 0.98 g/mL, and the pH 3.11. Fermentation for 11 days obtained ethanol content of 5.48%, density 0.99 g/mL, and the pH 3.45. Fermentation for 14 days obtained ethanol content of 2.30%, density 1.00 g/mL, and the pH 3.40. This study concluded that durian seeds can be processed into raw material for producing ethanol by fermentation.fermentationfor 5 days was good compared to the 8, 11 and 14 days with ethanol content of 15.15%

Shape Optimisation of Curved Interconnecting Ducts

Practical ducting layout in process plants needs to satisfy a number of on-site constraints. The search for an optimal flow path around the obstructions is a multi-parameter problem and is computationally prohibitively expensive. In this study, authors proposed a rapid and efficient methodology for the optimal linkage of arbitrarily oriented fluid flow ducts using a single-parameter quadratic/cubic Bézier curves in two/three dimensions to describe the centreline of the curved duct. A smooth interconnecting duct can then be generated by extruding the duct face along the curve. By varying the parameter either along the angular bisector or along the axes of the ducts, a family of Bézier curves is generated. Computational fluid dynamics simulations show that the relationship between pressure drop and the adjustable parameter is a unimodal curve and the optimal connecting duct is the one which has the least pressure drop while satisfying on-site constraints can be used for linking the ducts. The efficacy of the method is demonstrated by applying it to some cases of practical interest.Defence Science Journal, Vol. 65, No. 4, July 2015, pp. 300-306, DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.65.8353

    Get PDF
A pseudo-transient numerical model is used for the simulation of a multi-functional catalytic plate reactor (CPR). The work mainly addresses the problems associated with on-board reforming for solid-oxide fuel cells. Heat management is achieved by indirectly coupling partial oxidation with reforming. Water management is achieved by partially recycling the anode stream from a solid-oxide fuel cell. The model uses detailed heterogeneous chemistry for reforming and oxidation reactions occurring on the catalyst beds

his paper presents detailed study of biogas reforming. Model biogas with different levels of H2S is subjected to reforming reaction over supported Ni catalyst in a fixed bed reactor at 700 °C and 800 °C. In order to understand the poisoning effects of H2S the reactions have been initially carried out without H2S in the feed stream. Three different H2S concentrations (20, 50 and 100 ppm) have been considered in the study. The H2O to CH4 ratio is maintained in such as way that CO2 also participates in the reforming reaction. After performing the poisoning studies, regeneration of the catalyst has been studied using three different techniques i) removal of H2S from the feed stream ii) temperature enhancement and iii) steam treatment. Poisoning at low temperature is not recoverable just by removal of H 2S from the feed stream. However, poisoning at high temperature is easily reversed just by removal of H2S from the feed stream. Unlike some previous reports by Li et al. (2010) and Rostrup-nielsen (1971) [1,2], catalyst regeneration is achieved in shorter time frames for all the regeneration techniques attempte
