    Energy is a universal measure of all forms of work and its consumption is increasing worldwide. Combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum oils and natural gas produces energy, which is mainly used to improve the quality of life. As these conventional fuels are rapidly depleting, it is necessary to study the existing energy users, consumption patterns and demand, especially in urban areas for efficient use of energy. In this regard, the present investigation is being conducted in Tamil Nadu, the second and fifth largest and most populous city in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Energy consumers are identified in these cities and they are classified into industrial segments. The energy requirement of these sectors is measured and the energy consumption for these sectors is analyzed. With increasing energy demand and environmental degradation, it has been concluded that the implementation of energy conservation measures and the implementation of energy consumption including the use of renewable energy sources is necessary not only to match energy demand and supply of energy but also to safe guard the health and wealth of the inhabitants in Tamilnadu

    Anemia Detection using a Deep Learning Algorithm by Palm Images

    Our aim is to detect anemia through a comparative analysis of three convolutional neural network (CNN) models, namely EfficientNet B3, DenseNet121, and CNN AllNet. A collection of 3,000 microscopic palm pictures, including 1,500 anaemic and 1,500 non-anemic samples, was used to train and test the algorithms. The dataset was preprocessed to balance the classes, augment the images, and normalize the pixel values. The models were trained using transfer learning on the ImageNet dataset and fine-tuned on the anemia dataset. The performance of the models was evaluated based on accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The results showed that CNN ALLNET achieved the highest accuracy of 96.8%, followed by DenseNet121 with 94.4%, and EfficientNet B3 with 91.2%. The precision, recall, and F1-score also followed a similar trend. The study concludes that CNN ALLNET is the optimal model for anemia detection due to its high accuracy and overall better performance when compared with the different models. The findings of this research could provide a basis for further studies on anemia detection using CNN models, ultimately improving the accuracy and efficiency of anemia diagnosis and treatment

Environmental pollution is present from the very beginning of life, but today it is a serious problem that threatens the survival of mankind. During the preparation of scientific research, we noticed a problem: “What is the influence of the waste management on the environment?” Today, every person living on planet Earth is worried about environmental pollution because the consequences faced every day, through the air we breathe, the food and water we consume, through pollution and radiation we are exposed to. Also, the consequences of environmental problems are manifested through the lack of natural resources, extinction of plant and animal species, as well as the problems in the global ecosystems and biochemical processes. Based on the research problem we can hypothesize: Yes, waste management has a great impact on the environment

    Prescribing pattern and adverse drug effects monitoring of anti-rheumatoid drugs in rheumatoid arthritis patients in a tertiary care hospital

    Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common disease that causes substantial morbidity in most patients and premature mortality in many. All the drugs used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis show significant toxicity and hence it is important to monitor the drugs for adverse drug reaction. This study will estimate the prescribing pattern and bring out the possible adverse drug reactions in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.Methods: This study included 200 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who fulfilled the study criteria were observed for three months. Their prescriptions were collected and analysed. The symptoms of adverse drug reaction were documented through questionnaire. The causality assessment was done by WHO-UMC assessment scale and severity by using modified Hartwig-Seigel severity assessment scale.Results: This study showed most of the patients were female (86%). Majority of them were in age group of 51-60 years. Average number of drugs per prescription was 10.57. Out of 200 patients, 2% were on single DMARD and 50.5% were on two DMARDs. 40% and 7.5% were taking three and four DMARDs respectively. A total of 450 adverse drug reactions were reported, out of which 68.4% due to steroid,12.5% due to DMARDs and 19.1 due to use of NSAIDs, DMARDs and glucocortisteroids. Chloroquine maculopathy occurred in 3 patients and elevated liver enzymes due to methotrexate in 3 patients, which necessitated DMARD withdrawal. Most patients had 1-3 ADRs. 6% of ADRs were severe and 54% belongs to probable category of causality assessment.Conclusions: Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is mainly based on DMARDs, glucocorticosteroids and NSAIDs. So, occurrence of ADR is much common. Proper monitoring of therapy and timely modification of drugs and lifestyle can reduce the ADR occurrence

In this paper we discuss about various hazards such as physical hazards (electromagnetic radiation and ionizing radiation),chemical hazards (combustion of coal, petroleum), biological hazards (contamination of water) and psychosocial hazards (stress).And also various types of pollution caused by the environmental hazards which results in various health problems such as liver damage, chronic headaches, mental retardation or damage to reproductive organs.     The aim of the study was to isolate keratinolytic actinobacteria from feather waste soil, poultry farm soil in Tiruchirappalli and Nammakkal District, Tamil Nadu, India and their keratinase activity were investigated by feather degradation. Totally 91 isolates were obtained from feather waste soil and poultry waste soil samples. Among the 91 isolates, 32 positive isolates were selected after grown on modified starch casein agar (SCA) medium with additional casein. All 32 proteolytic isolates were subjected for casein hydrolysis and four significant isolates were selected based on their growth on basal liquid medium containing chicken feather. The isolate SD6 was tentatively identified one of the best among 4 isolates. The isolate SD6 was characterized by morphological, biochemical and molecular property inducing 16s rRNA analysis based and has been identified as Nocardiopsis sp. SD6 (JF907189). The isolate was grown on modified starch casein broth (SCB). Supernatant from centrifuged culture was examined for protease and keratinase activity. The optimum temperature and pH for enzyme activity for both proteolytic and keratinolytic was found at 50°C, pH 8 respectively. Extracellular keratinase enzyme was separated from the culture supernatant by centrifugation and precipitated with ammonium sulphate (80% saturation) and followed by dialysis using dialysis membrane 150. Native PAGE was performed with the enzyme sample and visible bands were observed after de-staining. Zymogram gel electrophoresis was employed to identify the keratinase enzymes band and three bands in the gel were found with positive keratinase activity
