Abstract The engineering of Kerr and time-dependent coupling interactions is of great attention for treating quantum information in quantum systems and for investigating the collective behavior of large numbers of interacting particles in a cavity-qubit network. In this manuscript, we investigate the time evolution of the entanglement and some nonclassical properties of two superconducting qubits interacting with a single-mode field in the presence of a Kerr-like medium and dipole–dipole interaction without and with time-dependent coupling effect. We show that a slight alteration in the interaction, detuning, and Kerr parameters might cause a change in the entanglement of subsystem states during the evolution. By taking into account the influence of the different physical parameters, we show the statistical distributions produced in the photons of the single mode field through the calculation of the Mandel's parameter. Finally, we find that the time-dependent Mandel's parameter not only provide the statistical properties of the field, but also include the information of quantum entanglement for the subsystem states

The aim of the present research was to discover plant food extracts and probiotics that may have bioactivity towards chronic inflammation. Three plant food extract mixtures expected to be rich in phenolic compounds, carotenoids and tocopherols were prepared. The anti-inflammatory activity of the different mixtures as well as probiotic bacteria (<i>Bifidobacterium bifidum</i>) were evaluated in adjuvant arthritis in rats. The anti-inflammatory effect, mechanism of action and safety of the three mixtures and <i>Bifidobacterium bifidum</i> were studied by measuring the size of inflammation and the determination of inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers, colonic bacteria profile and specific cytogenetic parameters. The contents of tocopherols, β-carotene and phenolic compounds in the mixtures were determined. The results show that the tested mixtures and <i>Bifidobacterium bifidum</i> possess promising anti-inflammatory effects. The mechanism of action seems to involve a reduction in oxidative stress and inflammatory biomarkers and an effect on colonic microflora. Genotoxicity and DNA fragmentation induced by adjuvant arthritis were prevented after supplementation with the tested mixtures.<br><br>El objetivo de la presente investigación fue encontrar extractos de alimentos vegetales y probióticos que puedan tener bioactividad hacía la inflamación crónica.

    Superfield Description of a Self-Dual Supergravity a la MacDowell-Mansouri

Using MacDowell-Mansouri theory, in this work, we investigate a superfield description of the self-dual supergravity a la Ashtekar. We find that in order to reproduce previous results on supersymmetric Ashtekar formalism, it is necessary to properly combine the supersymmetric field-strength in the Lagrangian. We extend our procedure to the case of supersymmetric Ashtekar formalism in eight dimensions.Comment: 19 pages, Latex; section 6 improve

New Algorithm for Drawings of 3-Planar Graphs

Graphs arise in a natural way in many applications, together with the need to be drawn. Except for very small instances, drawing a graph by hand becomes a very complex task, which must be performed by automatic tools. The field of graph drawing is concerned with finding algorithms to draw graph in an aesthetically pleasant way, based upon a certain number of aesthetic criteria that define what a good drawing, (synonyms: diagrams, pictures, layouts), of a graph should be. This problem can be found in many such as in the computer networks, data networks, class inter-relationship diagrams in object oriented databases and object oriented programs, visual programming interfaces, database design systems, software engineering…etc. Given a plane graph G, we wish to find a drawing of G in the plane such that the vertices of G are represented as grid points, and the edges are represented as straight-line segments between their endpoints without any edge-intersection. Such drawings are called planar straight-line drawings of G. An additional objective is to minimize the area of the rectangular grid in which G is drawn. In this paper we introduce a new algorithms that finds an embedding of 3-planar graph. Keywords: 3- Planar Graph; Graph Drawing; drawing on grid

Towards an Ashtekar formalism in eight dimensions

We investigate the possibility of extending the Ashtekar theory to eight dimensions. Our approach relies on two notions: the octonionic structure and the MacDowell-Mansouri formalism generalized to a spacetime of signature 1+7. The key mathematical tool for our construction is the self-dual (antiself-dual) four-rank fully antisymmetric octonionic tensor. Our results may be of particular interest in connection with a possible formulation of M-theory via matroid theory.Comment: 15 pages, Latex, minor changes, to appear in Class. Quantum Gra

The ALFA Roman Pot Detectors of ATLAS

    Get PDF
The ATLAS Roman Pot system is designed to determine the total proton-proton cross section as well as the luminosity at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) by measuring elastic proton scattering at very small angles. The system is made of four Roman Pot stations, located in the LHC tunnel in a distance of about 240 m at both sides of the ATLAS interaction point. Each station is equipped with tracking detectors, inserted in Roman Pots which approach the LHC beams vertically. The tracking detectors consist of multi-layer scintillating fibre structures read out by Multi-Anode-Photo-Multipliers.Peer Reviewe
